What is the moment that changed you from an atheist to a religious one?

I was raised a heavy atheist by a woman who had grown up as a rebellious girl in the mormon faith. SHe got interested in evangelical christianity from a co-worker when i was 10 (he ended up being my step father, and i kid you not, this guy is ducking freaky with how normal, and kind, and decent he is). I saw how much happier she was with him, and how she got so happy talking about church. I was used to a very crippled family, with a nutcase of a father, so this new thing felt really unfamiliar. I have a terrible habit of always being paranoid, so I was slow to get into christianity. But I had seen my religion hating mother get up and interpret(in ASl) the worship music with a smile, and decided to become a christian. many years later, I have no regrets.

It was the other way around for me. I considered myself Christian. Then I made the mistake of reading the Bible, cover to cover, from then on, atheist.

Probably not what you're looking for but, I'll tell you how I became interested in religions.

I was raised in a convent school. We had Mass every morning, midday prayers before lunch, and the last lesson of the day was always bible study.
The more I studied the bible, the more questions I had. The more questions I had, the more I got the cane.
In other lessons, such as history or geography, other gods were never mentioned. We did a whole term on ancient Egypt without there being a single mention of their (many) gods. Ancient Greece, but not one mention of Zeus.
It was even told to us that the Jews from the bible all followed Christ in the end and so changed the name from Jews to Christians, so we never had any idea that Jews were still around. But none of it ever sat right with me.

The first I learned of any other religion was after I got kicked out and moved to England. First day in my new school, and I have a lesson called 'Religious studies', I asked one of the kids there 'Is that a fancy way of saying bible study?', he said 'Nah, mate. It's where they talk about Judaism, Islam, and all that other other c**p. I think we're starting on Hindus today.' Fair to say that I was confused, but I was about to get my MIND BLOWN!!

Sitting in that class, the teacher started telling us about...

Some fella called Vishnu, who was having a kip wrapped up in giant fecking snake, floating around in the nothingness that came before everything. Yer man woke up 'cos something was making a noise (probably the snake snoring, IDK). He got a bit bored floating in the nothing, so he grew a lotus flower from his belly button. Inside the flower, was some old due called Brahma.
Yer man Vishnu, told Brahma, 'Make the world!', then just fecking disappeared (taking the giant space Cobra with him).
Brahma, being a bit of a Macgyver, cracked the flower into 3 parts, turned one bit into heaven, one bit into the earth, and the last bit into the sky. But there was f**k-all on the earth, so he made some animals, and plants (presumably out of a paperclip, belt, and a bottle of shampoo). Then he was like, 'This is gonna someone to maintain it!' So he made humans from clouds, but they were c**p, so he scrapped them, and then thought, 'If you want something done right, you best do it yourself', then just... SPLIT HIMESELF IN TWO!!!!
This MF was like, 'Yeah, now I'm a man AND a woman!'
And that's how people came about....

When you are told that there is only one faith, and then you loose that faith (or never really had it to begin with), then hear an origin story like that, how can you not say, 'Tell me more. Tell me everything!'

TLDR: Don't be lazy! Fecking read it!
