We always hear about the awful things a country/government does, but what does your country do that makes you really proud to be from there?

For me, it's not the people or the government or its history, but the beautiful, calm nature and the fact that it has loads of mineral water.

Hey I am from Nigeria, the one thing am really proud of my country is that how we are unified ..we have over 550indigenous tribes and language and religious differences but still work together as one for the past 100yrs .'so many tribes, region and everything'. It makes me wonder how far we have achieved with this kind of population!

Back in elementary school, my best friend was Nigerian! Unfortunately, she and her family had to move back there, but she was such a wonderful person! I hope all Nigerians are as kind as she was.

i’m from belarus, so not much. it’s crazy here with the pandemic and the government (idk if you read about it), and everything’s handled awfully.
apart from that, probably that we have many rare european animals in our puschas, such as the biggest population of european bison.

I'm from Trinidad & Tobago...a small twin island nation in the Caribbean. I am proud of our people. We are resilient and can face adversity with a smile. As one of our local songs says, "The city could burn down, we partying still". That can tell a lot about our people. We also have all different types of people as noted in our national anthem, 'every creed and race finds an equal place".

I'm proud of America for making it this far without completely breaking apart and going into another civil war. (With the way things are going though, that could actually happen and happen very soon)

I agree. America is far from perfect, but that doesn't mean we don't have anything to be proud of!

There are plenty of ways in which the UK doesn’t cover itself in glory, but one thing I’m always immensely proud of is how we respond to things like Comic Relief, Children in Need, Stand Up To Cancer, etc. Even during a recession, everyday people reach into their pockets, give what they can and between them raise millions to help others. It’s heartwarming to see and reminds me that most people are essentially good.

I agree that people in the UK are generous but really don't agree with these celebrity-led fundraising appeals. There was a good analogy that I read recently along the lines of; You have 1 chocolate bar, the celebrity has 1000 chocolate bars. In these kind of appeals, the celebrity will do their very best to convince you - usually through guilt or emotional blackmail - that you should give your chocolate bar to the needy. Which you do because you are a nice person, leaving you with nothing. The celebrity keeps all their bars and benefit hugely from plenty of publicity and the opportunity for almost endless virtue-signalling. One 92-year-old UK lady, Olive Cooke, committed suicide because she could not afford to give to all 3000 charities that were hounding her for donations. She also sold poppies to support veterans and their families. All this while some charity CEOs receive hefty seven-figure pay packets. It doesn't seem fair.

I'm American. I know that the US has made a ton of mistakes, and we are far from perfect, but that doesn't mean I have nothing to be proud of about my country. We have some good aspects about us too.

One of those aspects I am proud about of the United States of America is our diversity. So many people of different colors, races, religions, ethnic groups, cultures, beliefs, etc. dwell in this country, and it always amazes me to see the variety of people whether they were born here, or immigrated here to the US.

I’m from Sweden and I love my country’s closeness to nature. A country of forests, lakes and ice that can be enjoyed by everyone. To be able to sit beneath the northern lights is something I never get tired of. For such a small country we also have managed a lot with inventions, music, etc.

    Hello from the UK!

They say pride comes before a fall so let's just say that I'm rather pleased about our multiculturalism and the way that it has inextricably woven its way into the fabric of our society.

You can meet all kinds of people here from all over the world and most of them are jolly pleased to meet you. If there is an international sporting event on, you can usually visit the nearest bar or pub - of which there are many - to support whoever is playing - it doesn't matter who you support because you can guarantee that there will be Africans, Europeans, Asians and Aussies to cheer along with.

When that's all over if you're feeling peckish, you will find a huge range of takeaways and restaurants. Have pizza with the Italians, or Szechuan Pork with the Chinese, Sushi with the Japanese, Doner Kebab with the Turks, or Jerk Chicken with the Nigerians.

It's all good and we get along great.

Sad to say that some of our picturesque villages still have the odd idiot but it's a tiny minority and most of us have more than two brain cells. If anything, maybe that makes me proud - that most of us hate the idiots as much as, if not more, than you do!

Really wish Hillary Clinton won though, I would be even prouder of the USA. Only thing I hate is the freaking portion sizes. Still eat kids meals.

The fact thet we endured enemies from left and right, from up and down over centuries and we're stil here. We've been under several different "overlords", under attack from neighbouring imperium for 300 years. On the list for genocide from the Nazis...And survived. With our own language, country, traditions... Staying sensible and hardworking.

The Netherlands, for a lots of reasons that have become clear to me after reading blogs from expats who live and work here. We, Dutch actually have no clue that we're living in a paradise compared to a lot of other people. If I had to mention one thing that stands out, it's how the Dutch are taken care off from the cradle to the grave.
