Book or movie is acceptable. If you don’t have a favorite Lord of the Rings quote, explain why you haven’t seen or read it.

My friends. You bow to no one.
“It's like the great stories, Mr. Frodo, the ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were, and sometimes you didn't want to know the end because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad has happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing this shadow, even darkness must pass. A new day will come, and when the sun shines, it'll shine out the clearer. I know now folks in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going because they were holding on to something. That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it's worth fighting for.” -Samwise Gamgee
(copied from goodreads.com b/c I didn't remember it by heart)
"There's some good in this world...and it's worth fighting for."
I absolutely love this one. Behind every cloud is the sun. The brightest light is behind the darkest shadow.
Faithless is he who says farewell when the road darkens.
I honestly cannot remember who said this. And I'm pretty sure it's from the books. :)
“I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo.
“So do I,” said Gandalf, “and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”
My favorite poem was much too long to fit, so I’ve put my top 9 in descending order, one from each member of the Fellowship.
9)PIPPIN: We’ve had one, yes. What about second breakfast? (Movie, after Aragorn tells the hobbits they’ve already had breakfast)
8)BOROMIR: One does not simply walk into Mordor. (Aka the most memed LotR line in history. Movie, Council of Elrond.)
7)GIMLI: That still only counts as one! (Movie, after Legolas kills an Oliphuant, the latest in their kill competition.)
6)LEGOLAS: The Uruks turn northeast! They’re taking the hobbits to Isengard! (Movie, after Aragorn’s “Legolas! What do your elf-eyes see?”While is an amazing line, is geographically incorrect. From Lothlorien, turning northeast would take them into Mirkwood. Northwest was the direction of Isengard.)
5)GANDALF: You cannot pass! I am a servant of the Secret Fire, wielder of the flame of Anor. You cannot pass. The dark fire will not avail you, flame of Udûn. Go back to the Shadow! You cannot pass. (Book, fighting the Balrog. Contrary to the movie adaptation, he doesn’t say “You shall not pass”)
4)MERRY: You can trust us to stick to you through thick and thin - to the bitter end. And you can trust us to keep any secret of yours - closer than you keep it yourself. But you cannot trust us to let you face trouble alone, and go off without a word. (Book, after Frodo tries to leave his friends at his new house in Crickhollow).
3)FRODO: I will take the Ring to Mordor, though I do not know the way. (Movie, when the Council of Elrond argues about who will carry the Ring)
2)ARAGORN: Sons of Gondor, of Rohan, my brothers! I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me! A day may come when then courage of men fails. When we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of wolves and shattered shields, when the age of men comes crashing down! But it is not this day! This day we fight! By all that you hold dead on this good earth, I bid you stand, Men of the West! (Movie, Aragorn encourages his men before the Black Gate)
1)SAM: Come, Mr. Frodo! I can’t carry it for you, but I can carry you! (Book, Sam’s determination to serve his master and his love and support for Frodo manifested after Frodo falls in Mordor).
OK YES YOU ARE MY NEW FAVORITE BORED PANDA AUTHOR (with other's close behind but, uhhhh) :)
"It is not our part to master all the tides of the world, but to do what is in us for the succour of those years wherein we are set, uprooting the evil in the fields that we know, so that those who live after may have clean earth to till. What weather they shall have is not ours to rule."
-Gandalf

"In sorrow we must go, but not in despair. Behold! we are not bound for ever to the circles of the world, and beyond them is more than memory."
It’s selfish and inconsiderate of me to voice this, but if anything were to happen to me I wanted people to celebrate my life by leading one that would honor mine’s. Take the time to grieve for the ones you’ve lost, for the ones who’ve lost their loved ones. If you’re angry, that’s understandable, but come back from that place with renewed passion to fight for what’s just and right. To fight and work to create a world where it’s not even a debate about doing right by others and to risk lives to save the economy.
YOU SHALL NOT PASS!! oh, wait is that from harry potter I cant remeber
“Even the smallest person can change the course of history.” - Galadriel
“Yet such is oft the course of deeds that move the wheels of the world: small hands do them because they must, while the eyes of the great are elsewhere.” - Elrond
“Deeds will not be less valiant because they are unbraided.” -Aragorn
The LOTR trilogy, The Matrix trilogy, and Harry Potter films have been a big part of my adolescence. When I forget who I am, need some inspiration to regain strength, or when it's hard to sleep because i'm thinking too much... I turn back to these films.
I hereby swear not to kill the people that haven’t read the books yet, as long as you pledge fealty to me as your king and read them at the earliest opportunity presented to you.
i have read hobbit and watched all the movies but just haven't read all the books yet
