If you could only give a new dog owner one piece of advice, what would it be? There is so much information out there for dog owners, what is the one thing you would want a new dog owner to know?

Don't buy the cheap poo bags, especially if you have a big dog!🤣

Enjoy every second - she/he will be gone too soon and you don't want to waste any days getting too mad and angry at him/her.

Potty-train from the start - don't scream/sanction if the puppy (in case in fact you do get a puppy) does the "business" at the wrong spot. But reward the correct behaviour.

Instead of a regular collar I would buy a Harness. Much damage can be done if the dog constantly pulls - injuries to the throat and more.

Choose a good brand for dog food - also depending on the kind of breed. Don't switch the food and brands too often. Not all dogs take that well.

Establish good behaviors early! Letting bad habits start because they're funny or cute early on makes it confusing and hard to train them later.

Walking is important, even if you have a fenced yard. Beyond exercise (which they need more of than a lot of people realize), it's mentally stimulating and helps them establish territory and routines.

Love them with all your heart. They will love you more purely and unconditionally than anyone, and they deserve all the kindness and care we could ever give them and more.
