What is something that kept your mind off bad news?

My dog helped me by always being energetic even when I wasn’t, I’ve been reading a lot so that helped distract me from current situations, and sometimes I write short stories and those kinds of things.

Well, you see, I quit ( actually I was fired) from my retail job. I've been just fine ever since. Even stopped drinking. Still smoking Erb though. What was the question again please? Oh yeah, I'm getting through this stuff just fine.

Music, writing, and books. I usually listened to Dear Evan Hansen (the musical, not the movie), Hamilton, Hadestown, The Lightning Thief Musical, and Be More Chill.

Home repair projects! Having my husband and dogs definitely helped, too! And - I'm a nurse at a hospital - so, of course, I still went to work...

I'm an introvert. The lockdown made very little difference in my life. The things I enjoy the most are things you do alone.

Minecraft. I made a whole city (not a very good one) over the pandemic.

Cooking. It removes the stress and provides me with complete (almost) satisfaction.

What got me through the initial lockdown was that I am a partial shut in (except groceries) so that helped initially. Mostly, I finally started standing up for myself. Which was way harder than I thought, But I admit, as soon as they lifted the lockdown, I could not wait for people to get out of my way. *L*

I actually lost my job at the start of covid, I was fired eventually because I called my boss a narcissistic sociopath and a p.r.i.k. i had nearly 11 month of annual leave and sick leave. The emotional toll from work meant I was on stress leave for that time and finally let go. I then became my elderly parents full time carer. They went through more health issues than I can even fully remember. Dad had seizures and finally got diagnosed with vascular dementia, he had about 8 separate long hospital stays and also 8 weeks in hospital with covid. Mum broke her hip and became insulin dependent diabetic, she also had various falls and a silent heart attack plus 6 weeks with covid. Basically I have had a full on job just caring for them, managing specialists, tests hospital stays and home treatments throughout the last 2 years, I haven't had the time to care about covid outside of complying with lockdown, isolation, vaccinations, tests etc. Those seem like small side issues next to everything else happening with my parents so while everyone else was stressing over covid killing their social lives etc I was actually kinda glad for the peace that came with the lockdowns and isolation.
