1. Us Aussies do not ride in Kangaroo pouches, nor do we own pet koalas.
2. Kangaroos are so numerous, it is a rule (don't know if it's a law, but it is heavily suggested) that if you accidentally hit a mother kangaroo with your car and she has a Joey in her pouch, you are meant to kill the Joey.
Also apparently Kangaroo meat taste like chicken.

Despite all the extreme left and right freaks, most Americans are actually fairly moderate. Most of us just want to get along and let people be people. But it's those that scream the loudest that get the most attention.

That being said, because of how our political system works, we get forced into backing two people who usually only represent a few of the things we believe, but we have to vote for someone. That's why our country is such a mess right now.

It's very scary living in the U.S.A. right now. And it's made more difficult to hear people judge us all based on the worst examples of Americans. Thanks to all those who are hoping with us that this madness sees an end soon!

People can actually be poor in Switzerland. Yes there is more social security than in many other countries, but you can still be very poor. Also, we pay a lot of taxes.

That Bali island is part of our country. I don't know if other countries think that way, but many Japanese people misunderstood this. They tend to think Bali is an exotic island country. Meanwhile, many of them think that Indonesia is India, or the neighbor of India, so they don't see if Bali and Indonesia are even related. That's why many Japanese are shocked when they learn that Bali is in Indonesia! It's funny and cute tho.

I'm ashamed to admit it was only a couple of years ago that I realised Bali is in Indonesia. Whenever Aussie tourists say they are going to Bali, they say it as if it's a country, rather than they are going to Bali in Indonesia, so I didn't put it together.

I’m a U.S. citizen. There are a lot of misconceptions about who we are:

Here are some random facts: (I’m sorry if any of these triggers you)

1. Every 68 seconds, an American is raped. Every 9 minutes, it is a child.
2. Most americans do not own guns.
3. There is more bourbon in the us then the population of Kentucky.
4. The Statue of Liberty was a gift from the French, made from the same guy who made the Eiffel Tower (I believe)
5. California has the most people, but New Jersey has the highest population density.
6. Americans do not have an official language. We just assume it is English, but we don’t really have one.

I’m from the moon. Most people assume we don’t exist, but really we just don’t want any part of your insanity

Not all of us are fat, own guns, and are overly friendly.

If someone asks how you are doing, just say you are doing fine or good. They don't really care and are just being polite.

There are a huge homeless population, and they tend to group up.

Keep your eyes forward and on the ground, if you hear a person screaming nonsense. Its safer.

It's not so much that people don't know, but people don't realize how massively huge the continent is from coast to coast. Not including Hawaii or Alaska, it's approximately 3000 miles (approximately 4500km) from coast to coast, and has 4 time zones. You absolutely will not be able to visit New York City and Los Angeles or anything in between in the same visit and expect to see very much, unless you're willing to dedicate an entire summer (or a year!) just to travel. Pick an area and just see what you can.

According to the latest census data, roughly half Australia's population, or at least one of their parents is born overseas. The most common place they are from is now India, overtaking the previous most common ones, which were New Zealand and England. Millennials have now taken over the Baby Boomers as the most populous generation in the country.
