In life, we have to make decisions. What are some decisions you made to which you knew that there was no going back?

It can be anything from getting out of bed to leaving a toxic job.

The moral of the story is hope is never to be surrendered.

Many years ago (a lifetime) I sent my son to live with his father (so I could get sober) He was 4 at the time. I was effectively left on my own and forbidden to see him again. Flash forward 15 years and 3 weeks, I got a text message. (I had been toyed with by someone off and on for years, so I was skeptical). Then the phone rang. We spoke for 9 hours, and to each race around to find plugs for our cell phones *L*. 2 month later I was racing around the kitchen as he was coming for a visit. I turned around and there he was. I didn’t know what to say, so I asked if it were a dream, because I had those all the time, and then hugged him and begged his forgiveness. It was in that moment he said “there’s nothing to forgive”. After his visit, every other weekend, rain, shine, and one wild snow storm, I found myself driving to Colorado where we was stationed. We drive each other crazy sometimes, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. PS: I’ve been clean and sober for 20+ years.

Breaking up with my now ex bf. We had been dating for a while, I really like him, he seemed so nice. But then I found out he had been cheating, and so I broke up with him. He tried telling me that it was all my fault, everything he did to me after we broke up, but I'm not going to listen to him and I'm staying away from him. I may have loved him, but I don't now and I don't regret breaking up with him.

That's the thing. If you'd forgiven him, then you'd be in a relationship where it'd been established that it was okay for him to cheat! Breaking up with him both spared you that relationship, and showed you who he really was.

I came out. I couldn’t go back or else I’d have to say it was a joke, I’d be bullied if I said it was a joke, because my grade is mostly queer. Once you’re out you can’t go back in.

Telling family and friends we were in a polyamorous relationship. His wife may have left us 8 years ago, but the drama lives on.

For me, it was getting out of the shower today. I knew there was no going back to starting today, so I worked hard to be better today than I was yesterday :)

Drinking. At this point I’m okay with dying from it. Also marrying my husband, my family needs him to run their business.
