Anyone with experience with retail or fast food jobs can likely testify about the behavior of that one "entitled" person. Or you've randomly run into that one situation where you saw someone be entitled. But what about you? What happened?

I worked at a coffee house, and this very wealthy / entitled woman would come in a berate the baristas for no reason. One day she came in and started in on me that she wanted a dry cappuccino, "DRY! And I mean it, if there is one drop of milk, you'll make it again." So I took a cup, put in 2 tablespoons of ground espresso beans, powdered creamer, and sugar and handed it back. She never came in again.

My "room mate" in hospital, complaining loudly and bitterly to a visitor about the "poor service" and that the side salad with her meal only had two slices of tomato. In NZ we are so lucky to have free hospital care with the kindest, most amazing nurses and doctors, nice rooms and facilities and free, delicious meals. At the time it was winter and tomatoes were $15.00 a kilo in the supermarkets.

Once had a woman sit on my legs when i was on the bus. I was the only other person on the bus, so i had spread out over the two seats. My feet weren't on the seat or on the aisle, and there was no way I was causing her any trouble, but apparently i was being 'Very entitled and extremely rude' by 'preventing others from sitting down'. Well, like i said, i was the only person on that bus, not including her and the driver. I told her that she was assaulting me and to get off. She didn't. She was not a skinny woman and was sitting on me in a way that was both very restricting and painful, with both of my legs trapped. Acted surprised when i called the driver (how dare you, you're being so childish, etc etc). We were stopped at one of those big bus stations so he went and got security. She got kicked off the bus. The bus drove away while I smirked at her from the window. Legs hurt for a good while afterwards, but was worth it to see her face as I drove off.

The principal at a school where I was student teaching lectured me about how “people like us” could never understand the challenges that children from low income families have to overcome. My family was homeless when I was in the first grade, I never even attended the third grade, and I dropped out of my fourth high school in 3 years because I was pregnant and homeless again.

I work in social care delivering and fitting care equipment. The equipment is loaned to them for free and we try to recycle it after they ve used it if possible. Things like hospital beds, commodes, walking aids, etc. I once had a job raising a gentleman's armchair to make it easier for him to get on and off it. His wife had me try the raising equipment on several different chairs to see which they looked best on and in the end refused them because she didn't like the look of the raisers and said I quote, "he's not the only person who lives in this house and has to to look at them". I respectfully left thinking about the poor husband.

Not me but my really good friend Amy used to work in a Charity shop in town. She did this even though she was a young mother with 4 kids all of whom were at school at the time. She only worked part time so she could pick up the kids from school. She also worked for free. The manager of the shop was well known as being an entitled witch who treated EVERYONE not just the people who worked in the shop like dirt.
One day my Amy's son needed emergency care. He'd fallen in the school playground and broken his wrist. Obviously the school phoned the shop to thell Amy what happened. She was working with another woman who just told her to go and called her a taxi to get her to the school.
The next day when she went in, the manager Bridget brought her into the back room and and went absolutely nuclear on her. Telling her off for leaving the shop and not telling anyone (not true, Ann, the other worker was there) and that she had no right doing what she did and that her job at the shop had to come first even before her children's welfare. Yes, she actually said that. Amy couldn't believe that anyone especially one who works for a charity shop could say something like that. So after telling Bridget exactly what she thought of her and the abuse she had had to put up with her since she started and the terrible way she treated everyone else, she quit and just walked out. This led to others quitting too. They just got so sick of Bridget treating them the same way. When the Charity realised what was happening they sacked Bridget. That's when word got out that while the shop workers were expected to work for free she was going home with around €60,000 plus a year which led to more animosity towards her.

Had an upset "guest" in the movie theater who wanted a refund for him and his son. They were watching Eternals and one of the heroes was a gay male. He kissed his husband before leaving for the big fight. This was about 2/3 thru the movie. "His kid's eyes were violated." When I told him that wasn't a valid reason for a refund, he said he was "going to call the authorities!" I lost my composure as a manager for a split second and laughed. Asked him "and tell them what? We wouldn't give you a refund because you didn't like the content of a movie? If we did that for every time someone didn't like a movie, we wouldn't have any money. We just play them my dude." He left angry and cursing. The couple that were a mixed race that came to me complaining he was yelling homophobic obscenities at the screen were happy to see him go though. He actually had the nerve to ask them if they were going to ever have children!

A 'celeb', I worked for a travel loyalty points company, their assistant called to make a flight booking with their points, but this person hadn't been set up as someone we could speak to on the account. So we said that we could only speak with the account holder or the person nominated on the account to make bookings. This was relayed to said account holder, who took hold of the phone and said 'do you not know who I am, I don't have time for people like you'. I pointed out that it didn't matter who they were, I had to clear data protection and was ensuring their account was secure.

Not necessarily an entitled person, but someone who was very out of touch. I was walking home from my bus stop after school, and this lady in her (probably) sixties came up to me and started talking to me. I live in a fairly small tourist town, and this lady and her friends wanted to know how to get downtown. Keep in mind that she just walked up to a minor with earbuds in. She proceeded to keep talking to me about her vacation with her friends and how she loved that our town was so small, like it's an aesthetic or something. She then turned to her friends and talk about how I was "such a cute small town girl" like I wasn't even there. She also asked me how I "live so simply" and talk about how she "couldn't stand being poor like me", all while treating me like I'm an idiot. Obviously, that was very offensive so I just left at that point.

not sure if this counts but it felt like it. i was around 24 yrs old. i had been working as a clerk for a military office that provided service for service members. my boss was one of these ladies who was impeccable in her appearance and manner and wanted to be very professional. there was a clerk already in the office when i started who had been a psuedo-assistant to her for her correspondence and contacts as she would work closely with the commanding officers of the base. when that clerk went on vacation i took over her duties. the boss liked to "dictate" letter with basic notes stating what she wanted to say in a letter or memo and then let the clerk basically write it for her as well as being a liaison between department heads. (frankly, most of her duties were done by the other clerk.)

well, after a week she started acting more friendly and actually started discussion with me on various topics, all of which was fine. regardless of the other clerk returning, she started having me act as her personal secretary with all written and verbal interactions. this went on for months and eventually she promoted me to facility manager. sounds great, right?

then, after one of the many lunches she invited me to join, she asked which ivy league school i had attended. excuse me? what do you mean? well, which college was my alma mater? so sorry, i didn't attend college. wait a minute - if you didn't attend college then why are you so well spoken and capable of writing well? how are you able to have "intelligent conversations" (yes, she used that phrase) on a multitude of topics? why do you know what you know? well, maybe it is because not only did i attend catholic school for a while but i had the benefit of what is now called a classical education. she was dumbfounded by this info.

the next week, she was cold and distant. finally asked her if i had done something that was wrong in my work as i couldn't understand the change. her response: well, i had thought that you were a well educated person but it seems that you aren't and we don't have much to talk about so just do your work and all will be fine.

little does that woman know that she did the biggest favor to me. not only did she show me that there were people who would judge me on appearance, words, and actions but that there would be those that would look at my so called background and make judgments. so, i went back to school, gr graduated college with honors, and discovered that no amount of education will ever create a good person if they don't have a good soul. as one of my professors told me: a Phd doesn't mean that a person is better or smarter. it stands for Piled High and Deep.

Worked as a waiter at a fine dining restaurant. A couple came in just before closing. A bit annoying but hey, money is money. They stayed for the better part of an hour after they had finished completely with their dinner. The staff were not allowed to leave until the dining room was completely emptied. We got with one of the older servers. He had a bit of a 'gas' problem. Normally he would go either outside or under the hood vent in the kitchen. Not this night. He stood at the table next to theirs and let out a good one. It took a couple of times, but they loudly asked for their check with that look on their faces. Boy do I miss those days!

I worked in a call-center with a quickly revolving work-force. A 20yo girl adored scented hand sanitizer. I am asthmatic, and certain scents shut my lungs down. I requested that she not use the apple scented sanitizer any more, as it caused an episode with me.
Not 10 minutes later, I am on the phone with a customer, and she is raving over this hand sanitizer, and squirting it into everyone else's hands all around me. My lungs shut down so quickly that I stumbled leaving the office.
This predates covid, btw, been 3-4 years ago now.

I complained to the manager who was visiting from out of state. He investigated, and she innocently produced a bottle of unscented sanitizer.
To which I replied, if it was unscented, why were the girls all around me raving over the smell while I literally couldn't breath?!

Company I use to work for paid for some parking spaces near the entrance, they did it because one of their former employees had health problems and the handicap spaces were too far for her. They kept the spaces for convenience. People were constantly parking in our spaces which were clearly marked. When I saw it happen, I'd tell them those were assigned and direct them where they could park. Usually these people had very nice new/near new cars. They'd curse me out then walk into the welfare office. I was busting my balls barely earning a living and welfare was paying for BMWs.

We were responsible for giving large grants to communities for projects. There was not enough to fund every one so they had to make submissions which were shortlisted followed by a visit by us to review the site and answer questions at a public meeting.
One meeting there was this woman who took it upon herself to speak for everyone. She was not a leader, just an obnoxious person. She laid out that there *would* be further meetings to *each* household with her in attendance, there *would* be extra funding given to them, she *would* be the project manager for the community, we *would* provide funding all at once up front etc etc.
As I said, not enough to fund all the short listed submissions. Allthough their overall project proposal was on par with others, she was the primary reason her community was not successful

When I was six my best friend called her and I “the (my last name)s.” A little odd, but I didn’t care, I had a small crush on her. On our schools poetry night, we recited a poem together. Her mom thought it was “too gay” and demanded I leave her daughter alone. When she realized I was still friends with her, Karen mode was activated. All hell broke loose.

When I was in my 20's, worked as a nanny in a well-off community. Made friends with other nannies at the local park. My family was pretty nice, tho the mom was a little off (as she came home from wherever, she started removing clothing as she walked into the house, ending up naked by the time she hit the living room,)but 2 really sweet toddlers. Nothing compared with some of the other families. One worked for a famous romance novelist who had a huge flock of children, each one with their own nanny. She was well paid but just couldn't take the bratty, entitled kid ... every time she tried to get the kid to do homework, eat their dinner, get ready for bed, the kid would threaten to go to their mother and accuse the nanny of all sorts of nasty things. It was a problem for all the other nannies in that home, turnover was pretty bad no one wanted to deal with such spoiled children tho she did feel a little bad for the kids as they were pretty much raised by the household help, their mother's time was too valuable for dealing with her children, they were only allowed a couple of minutes of face time with their own mom.

Academics are the worst (not all, but some - usually the ones who've gone through public school then Oxbridge before settling into a nice lazy head of group / head of panel position, quite literally lording it over the very people who are just trying to scrape out an (increasingly badly paid / poorly pensioned) living before retiring themselves early (but never actually leaving / getting out of your hair).

Customers of McDonald's are the worst. Always met Karen's and Kyle's there. Once there was a lady with the Karen haircut who needed to get to the bathroom as I was mopping the hall there. I told her to be careful because the floor was wet and she demanded I take paper towels and dry the water. When I told her no, she "slipped" on the water and scream. She obviously wasn't hurt and was doing it for attention. When neither more or my manager would pay attention to her, she got up in a huff and called the police to report unsafe conditions. She argued with two officers for thirty minutes on why I needed to be arrested. They ended up arresting her. My manager banned her from that location. She tried coming in a few weeks later and got arrested again for trespassing and destruction of property. She swung a chair into the kiosk when we told her to leave. She tried bribing us $1000 each to keep quiet.

I have no idea if this counts and I’m sorry if this isn’t “entitlement” but basically this story is about some lady and her 5 kids aged between like 3-14. So my family and I went to this resort campground thing for the first time when I was 13 I think and my brother and I were playing on trampolines (there are only 2 at the park) and the other kids were angry because we wouldn’t let them use it. They told their mom and K literally chased us in her golf cart all the way back to my parents trailer and her spawn (the 3-8 year old ones only) stalked us around the campsite for like 3 days 😭 it was stressful for me at the time but honestly it’s fuckig hilarious.
Like imagine chasing 13 and 11 year olds in your fuckig golf cart because they wouldn’t get off a trampoline for your hellspawn

I was a pizza delivery driver about thirty years ago. I delivered a pizza to a law office, and said, “Your change is eleven cents,” in a pretty perfunctory manner, as even non-tippers always said to keep it when the amount was that small. She said, “Okay,” and held out her hand. I looked at my change and told her, “The smallest change I have right now is a quarter.” She said, coldly, “That’s fine,” and stretched her hand out further. I handed her the quarter, and she gave me this sh*tty little mean girls smirk and walked away with her pizza. A f****ing lawyer took $0.14 from a 19-year-old pizza delivery driver. I’m sure she’s had a lovely career suing orphanages and soup kitchens.

When I was in elementary school, there was this one girl, let's call her Ella, who walked around acting like a princess. She would demand people let her go to the front of the line at lunch and would take her sweet little time piling up quite a bit of food and end up wasting it, and god forbid if someone were to deny her, she's yell at them, shove them out of the way and go to the front of the line anyway. I have no clue where she got off thinking she owned the place.
She also demanded people's lunch seats during lunch events since she wanted to be closer to the stage. I hated her, never listened to her, and ended up getting bullied by her.

I worked at Macy's in 07 as a go back person. (sender of merchandise back to their proper depts when left elsewhere by shoppers) I was on break shopping, employees were allowed to and I had this very nice Marc Ecko women's top. Red, slim fit with a raised black filigree design of two old West six shooter pistols crossed into women's legs in stilettos. A chick looking like a Rocky Horror extra walks by exclaiming how cute the top was I go yea it's pretty tight I'm digging it, and had it in my hand ready to go pay for it. That was quite literally the extent of the interaction I couldn't even remember if there was eye contact. I had stashed it in the bottom of a round clothing rack rung hidden by clothes. Lots of employees did that when they found stuff they liked but couldn't get to right away, knowing shoppers don't bother disorganized clothes. 10 minutes later after my break I get asked by my super if I was on a scheduled break a few minutes ago. Of course I said I even clocked it on time. She said she thought so because a female customer came up to her saying I was extremely rude when I didn't help her with something. I just felt it y'know? This clown was the only shopper I had interaction with that day. I asked the super "black Marilyn Monroe hair, red glitter lipstick, silver eye shadow and red thigh high boots? She hollered. She goes yeaaa it's cool I let her rant about how she's never been treated that way even in Marciano (Guess stuff in a Guess store I guess idk) she said she told the chick that she would reprimand me and that the chick was happy with that and off she f****d. Don't get me wrong I like cosmetics and thigh highs as much as the next female but don't tell a lie in them it's not getting you taken any more seriously than if you just packed make-up on only.

Man: Excuse me There is no soap in the mens bathroom! how can you not have soap during Covid?!?
Librarian: uh, we're sorry, but we have Hand Sanitizer here.
Man: Alcohol doesn't work, it just moves the particles, soap breaks them down
(fun fact: hand sanitizer breaks down the protiens in pathogens, which works on Rhinoviruses, soap does not work on Rhinoviruses.)
Man: Do you know what soap does chemically?!?
Librarian: yes.
After a bit more arguing and yelling, he leaves.
and then he comes back
Man: What is your name!??
Librarian: why?
Man: I'm Gonna call the complaint hotline and report you for not having any soap!!
Librarian:..uh
Man: What is your name?!?
all the yelling has attracted another librarian.
Librarian 2: what is the problem sir?
Man: WHAT IS HER NAME?!?
Librarian 2: what?
Man: *points to other librarian* What is her name!?! I need to know her name so I can complain about her!!
Librarian 2: sir, please stop yelling.
Man: okay, fine.
after more arguing that I stopped paying attention to, he yells "You guys need to have S o a p here!!! hand sanitizer doesn't work, we're in a pandemic right now, millions have died, our president is very obviously sick!! You guys need to have Soap, am I just supposed to walk around with s**t on my hands!! that's disgusting, I just went to Jack In the Box!! You all are Dumbasses!"
he is told to leave, and amazingly, he does.

I was doing volunteer work and since we were short on volunteers I was very relieved that we were getting a bunch of new ones to share the burden. But in the volunteer meeting the coordinator had a bunch of new projects and asked people to pick what they wanted to do. Since I was literally doing more than any other volunteer and also had taken on the work of another volunteer who had dropped out, I assumed that these new projects were for the new volunteers. But then the coordinator turned to me and said, "What are YOU going to do?" I told her what I was ALREADY doing. She then said, "What ELSE are you going to do?" I just stared at her in shock.

I felt like quitting right then and there but the fact is that I wasn't doing the volunteer work for her, but because I enjoyed it and felt I was making a difference. Unfortunately the pandemic derailed the whole project shortly thereafter.

Asking a 'white' professional whose job description normally includes answering questions about their area of expertise (think along the lines of a hired accountant to do your taxes, an agent for gigs, or a realtor) why a particular question needed answering. The question was to specify my ethnicity, even though the house/job/thing in question had *NOTHING* to do with ethnicity (eg: Not looking to move into a refurb'd temple, not applying to a consulate position, characters in audition were not even human, etc.) ... and the professional could NOT understand why a non-sequitur demand for my ethnicity would make me nervous or take me aback. They treated it like 'why are you wasting my time with this?'

It was then that I realized that 'white' presenting people with 'white' names have had **SO LITTLE** opposition, prejudice and/or barriers all their lives that some of them don't 'get' what bias is.

In a situation like this, if someone asks them "So what's your ethnicity?" it's the same to them as a random question of "Hey, what'd you eat for breakfast?" - If you ask someone in the same situation who is non-white (in North America) "What's your ethnicity" with NO context, we immediately wonder "WHY... are you asking? Are you planning to exclude me or discount my qualifications based on this???"

I'd even go to say that many of us have experienced racism, racial bias as a low-key PTSD. We've been raised to be shoved into cubbyholes 'befitting' our race. Should we DARE to wander outside, we've been consistently shown that we'll be denigrated, whipped and denied a fair shake.

She vented 4 times a day and I was there every time, I was the only one talking to her out of like 200 people as a friend and I was the only one giving everything I had, even letting her share my Netflix. Six months after this starts she turns on me suddenly announcing she has a bf out of nowhere, she said I never helped her and asked too much in return for a 2 way friendship and then spread lies about me getting most of that group of 200 people to turn on me. Having quite the crush on me that she knew of and seemed to go along with, it kinda wrecked me. Today I'm still not quite there and feeling the effects of it but I'm making some good progress finally
