At work we had some time-off rearranged such that we were given 2 floating holidays, allowing us to chose the holidays we could celebrate. If you could choose a holiday from a culture other than your own to celebrate, what would you choose and why?

The Chinese New Year. It's colorful, joyous, and of course, the food!

Also the festival of colors that they have in India. I've only seen it on TV, and I don't know much about it (even what it's properly called), but it looks like wicked fun!

My family (we are exmo) celebrates Christmas, but every year we want to switch it up and celebrate a different winter holiday from another culture. Next year we’re doing haunnika

It's not really a holiday, but a tradition. I have always liked Hispanic/Latino culture and I really want to have a Quincenera. My mom won't let me go to one and I can't really have one, but all my friends get to go to them and they sound like so much fun!

Day of the Dead. It seems like a cool way to remember those that have passed. We don’t really have anything like that and I’d love to be able to celebrate the lives of my family members that have passed on.

Holi

The Hindu festival of colour looks like an awesome event to be involved in. Every time I have seen it on the TV, I have wanted to get into some serious colour throwing. Everyone appears to be having a whale of a time.
I would also love to be invited to an Indian Wedding. They look a real scream with all the music, dancing and food!

I grew up with Indian friends but they never got married. Or they did get married, but didn't invite me!
