Also being close to my cat or dogs can be really helpful if I am having a panic attack in the night and don't want to wake anyone up.

I read, and keep reading until five in the morning, then I realize I have stuff to do and regret reading but not really, or just cuddle my cat untill she is fed up and leaves.

"Just one more chapter, then I'll put it down and go to sleep... crap, that chapter was too short... one more chapter, then I'll put it down and go to sleep..." set on repeat.

Take melatonin and think about what’s worrying me, hold it in, and calmly flush it out. Then I choose a couple people and wish good things for them and it helps me calm down and sleep.

I pick a category, could be anything, produce or Harry Potter books or whatever. Then go through the alphabet and pick something with that letter. IE, Alohomora, Bathilda Bagshot etc. Pretty much always works for me, a friend told me about it.

Music always helps me. I really recommend Debussy pieces. Rêverie, Clair De Lune, Arabesque no. 1 are my favorites.

I just get up, turn on the light, stare at the room with the light on for a few seconds than turn it back off, stare at it, then go back to sleep. I know it sounds weird, but it works for me.

I plot out my next story in my head. Or just give up and watch SNL on my laptop.

I'll listen to random Youtube videos. Something like old make up videos, Safiya Nygaard, or SimplyPodlogical. I'll make my room as dark as possible and just listen with my eyes closed

I used to have trouble too, so here are a few things that might help. Drink some hot herbal tea a little before bed, read until you feel tired, meditate before bed, put on relaxing/instrumental music, get a weighted blanket, or just pretend you're asleep. These are all things that work for me

Stay up late on my laptop or Tv and I just watch youtube until I feel tired but apparently it bad for my health to stay up late and well it is but it gets me to sleep :D

Or I do just dance until I feel tired and sweaty then I shower and I fall asleep much more healthy :D

I talked to my doctor about my sleep and she prescribed me blood pressure medicine (I think) that makes you really drowsy. It helped a lot! Also try reading, or using your bed less for day to day activities so that when you get in bed your body knows it’s time to sleep

I toss and turn a lot at night, so I got a weighted blanket and it’s helped a LOT.

Really? I would be scared that I would get trapped under it or suffocate.

I usually just start imagining a story, kind of like a movie but I choose what is going to happen next.

Listen to Macaroni Union's "Weightless" and have a light snack with protein (peanut butter or an egg) and some water.

When it's just my usual insomnia, I just grab my dog and cuddle her and it usually helps me fall asleep, when I can't sleep because I'm having a panic attack, I cry and don't try to speed it up or stop it, even though it's terrifying, because I'll tire myself out like that.

That last one is probably advice you should not follow. Ngl I just don't know how to stop panic attacks, I just wanted to be helpful.

I learned this from my dad when I was having trouble sleeping the night before the start of first grade. Basically imagine you are being dipped into a pool of water feet-first very slowly. As the water touches your feet, your feet 'fall asleep'. by the time it gets to your knees, you should be asleep. Music also works for me (Mainly Olivia Rodrigo, but you can listen to whatever.)

If I’m at my mums house-

- sit on my roof
- play guitar (sometimes while on my roof)
- watch s**t on YouTube
- play guitar while watching s**t
- play guitar on my roof while watching s**t

If I’m at my dads house-

- dangle my legs out the window
- yeet from my window to the table in the garden and just stand in the middle of the backgarden
- sit on top of my wardrobe
- eat
