My dad past in 2019. His birthday is Christmas Eve. This hear we started a new tradition. On his birthday, we don't do gifts anymore. It's like a family night in honor of Dad. We did all the things he enjoyed such as making candy, eating together, and did some crafts that we hung around the house. It was for everyone to name one thing they miss most about Daddy. It went really well and made us feel like he there in a way. It was bittersweet but will be our new thing every Christmas Eve from here on out. Of course I was a Daddy's girl so for me to deal with his death, this was my idea! Last year I went into a deep state of depression and I am trying to combat it. It really helped me a bit this year.

Also, I hope ur depression gets better! Doing things to help others is one that helps me with mine. Less time to sit in my thoughts & more time to be thankful for the people & things & people I am blessed with.

Christmas eve we do this fun tradition, my mom wraps a present insanely with like lots of tape and multiple boxes, and then we get oven mitts. One person starts, once they get both mitts on they can start trying to open the box and the person to the left of them starts rolling 2 dice once they roll doubles the box is passed on and it goes like that.

My husband is Hispanic and my daughter really liked juice boxes in her lunch. She figured Santa would rather have an empanada and a juice box for his snack. He must’ve liked it because there was only one bite of empanada left and a little bit of juice in the box. She was always so excited to see that in the morning! (It didn’t hurt that there was always a thank you note from Santa by the snack!)
