Recommend anything, but I'm specifically angling for gay romances or queer found family books. Otherwise I'm probably not gonna look into them unfortunately. Still, recommend them- if not for me, for others.

My favourite book of all time and the one I recommend to everyone, whether or not they ask, is the house on the cerulean sea. It's a gay romance and also found family and excellent urban fantasy, so basically its everything I love in a very, very well written book. My second favourite is six of crows, which is also a very good book and the only reason it isn't number one is cause house on the cerulean sea is on another level. Like, that book can't be beat. Still, SOC is famous and very definitely deserves it. The other series kinda sucked but SOC and crooked kingdom (book two) are pretty great.
Third, I would recommend These Rebel Waves, which is like SOC but less well known and has a cooler (imo) magic system. Slightly less well written but still incredibly enjoyable and fun. It's more angsty than SOC which is saying a lot, so let that guide your choices. Also, the raven cycle. Four amazing books that are some of the best writing I've ever read. The only reason these don't get #1 is cause 4 books are a lot to read, and the writing style makes a bit of the plot slightly less exciting- there's parts where it introduces the villains each book and it honestly gets a bit boring cause it's really the same old stuff. The foreshadowing and callbacks in these books are masterpieces, though. I'd probably classify them as Y/A mysteries. I would also recommend Cemetery Boys as a gay romance with a transmasc mc (rep!) and, apart from house on the cerulean sea, my biggest reread book.
Just to clear it up, all of these books feature at least one gay romance in them. I'm taking this to mean that just by existing, gay people make everything better (as a gay guy I can confirm this). I'd recommend house in the cerulean sea if you're looking for a chill, wholesome escapism story, SOC, raven cycle, and these rebel waves if you're looking for a very fun y/a story/series (all have at least two books), and cemetery boys if you're looking for a great romance.

They Both Die At The End by Adam Silvera! The only book I have bought without prior, extensive research. And it's worth it.

    Gay, found family

    Synopsis:
On September 5, a little after midnight, Death-Cast calls Mateo Torrez and Rufus Emeterio to give them some bad news: They’re going to die today.

Mateo and Rufus are total strangers, but, for different reasons, they’re both looking to make a new friend on their End Day. The good news: There’s an app for that. It’s called the Last Friend, and through it, Rufus and Mateo are about to meet up for one last great adventure—to live a lifetime in a single day.

Even though the title gives away the ending, you're still surprised and bawling at the end.
