The whole pandemic was mismanaged by the governments. I just have this feeling, but I can't reasonably prove it.

It has certainly been poorly managed by some governments, but not all, and it's quite easily proven since many of the worst culprits are still doing the same thing.

I think he has some sort of instinctive rhetoric genius. I watched in disbelief and horror how craftily he and his staff paired words so carefully and menacingly that they are now linked. Fake news. Alternative facts. The way in which they’d so brazenly lie. Absolutely breathtaking. The way that everybody knew he was in it for the money and still he wouldn’t ever feel shame, or remorse, or anything humanly feasible.

He didn't coin either the term "fake news", nor "alternative facts". One of the very few things he has managed to learn is that if you consistently repeat anything enough times, then unintelligent and ill-informed people will latch onto it and believe it.

I think that bragging about passing a test designed to diagnose either concussions or dementia is quite solid proof that the man (if we can even call him that) has some form of mental handicap. Maybe he has only ever had 20 or so brain cells and when he looked at the not yet eclipsed sun without any eye protection it killed 18 of those cells, and since then the last two are only able to connect on a full moon between 11 and 11:02 pm but only if it's a tuesday and they're serving French fries in the cafeteria

The Flat Earth Society was founded in the 1950s by a guy called Samuel Shenton & when Shenton died a friend of his, Charles Johnson, became President of this society. He became famous/infamous/notorious for insisting scientists were lying about Earth being round and the press picked up the story. Membership of the group grew to about 3500 at its peak, Johnson died around 2000 / 2001. There is a spoof Facebook account called the Cambridge Flat Earth Society, they basically make fun of flat Earthers.

We've been many times, and the mattress store has never, ever had even one customer. We've never seen a single customer in any of the many, many mattress stores around town, and often wonder why. That crime/addiction/death and suffering are all linked to a government that would rather put money in the pockets of rich people than to take care of their citizens. If the pandemic taught us anything here in America is that, giving just a little extra cash to needy families actually pulls people out of poverty and helps them to get rid of debts. Providing people with a supplement to a living wage, providing free healthcare and free educations can only help us, not hurt us. So why is it that monetary greed wins out over taking care of your follow man? This is not rocket science, but the powers that be seem too inept to make it happen.

I may be cynical but I strongly suspect that those in power are benefiting from the system and that's why they won't close it down. If you had a cash cow, you wouldn't give it to the poor so they might eat, you would keep it for yourself to make you richer. I believe that's what is going on globally.

They are sure to exist, whether they are single cell organisms or advanced creatures, but we are unlikely to ever find proof of them because of the vastness of space. It would take so many hundreds or thousands of years to reach another solar system and the accuracy needed is so unbelievably precise, the chance of reaching one of their planets is less than 1 in a trillion trillion trillion.

You're bound to get some good advice but here's a hard truth: your parents might not be able to accept that you are being respectful, that you're listening, and that you still disagree with them. Parents are still just people and some people cannot accept being wrong. And once those kind of people have a form of authority over other people, they get aggressive when questioned. It hurts and it's hard to live with, but it gets better when you're an adult. At that point, the hardest part is learning to stand your ground.

Listen to them first. Find out what their pov is and where they came up with it.....by asking questions and being genuinely interested. THEN afterwards calmly say something like, "what do you think about xyz?" Or "I can understand what you mean. And sometimes x happens too." Introduce your ideas into the conversation slowly, over the long term. If you want to be heard, you need to show that you have been listening. If you want to be respected you need to SHOW respect for them first.

Best advice I can give is to approach each problem or disagreement without yelling or name calling. I'm not saying you have to cave in to what they believe. And tell them like you told us.."This is just my pov." If you let them know they have a right to their opinion and you have a right to yours, you may get farther. And don't try to argue them into accepting something. Some people will believe what they want to believe no matter how much arguing you do with them. Best way to diffuse and argument too is to ask them why they feel the way they do and listen intently. You may find out that the argument is due to miscommunication or assumptions.

Do you listen to them with the same respect you'd like? I just remember my mom saying when I was young " it's not what you said, it's how you said it". I suspect that dark matter and energy are an illusion caused by the dilation of spacetime from supermassive objects like young stars and black holes, as well as from galaxies themselves. Isn't dark matter/ dark energy just a placeholder term to make our math work? For context and as I understand it, our current mathematical models of the universe are really accurate IF you throw in that there is x% dark matter and x% dark energy. In that case, I just figure that it's something we haven't learned how to detect yet.

Simple version: mass creates gravity, gravity messes with time. Since everything we measure has to be somehow tied to mass or time, it means that it's very difficult (if not impossible) to get accurate numbers when something is really, really big. Especially when we have no proof of how mass and gravity scale past the largest source of mass that we can "easily" study, the sun.

I tend toward "frame dragging" as this would cause matter to clump into arms like we see in galaxies, with the space-time fabric distortion allowing objects to circle the galaxy faster than would be possible in the standard model.

A bit random, but here goes. I have a strong suspicion that many prehistoric artefacts in Ulster Museum (Northern Ireland) are fake. I studied some for my Masters and noticed that a lot of artefacts in a very narrow band of styles were 'discovered' in a really small time frame in the 1890s. It is documented that there were forgers selling stone artefacts to tourists in that period. I think a local forger was selling them to the museum as well.

That's interesting. Did you speak about this to your director? Or someone from the museum? I'm sorry if I don't use the right terms, english is not not my first language. When you say artefacts you mean flint tools? Did you find any resembling artefacts elsewhere? I work in a museum and I find this interesting, if someone suspected that some exposed piece is a fake I would like to know, speak about it and maybe start new research to be sure.

No I didn't tell anyone, I have nothing to back up the suspicion. I don't have the skills of a historian to find out about the museum and how it collected artefacts in the 1890s. It was polished stone tools - Neolithic axes and bronze age wrist guards, all allegedly from County Antrim.

Last year, I dreamt that my mother woke me up to tell me that a tuition class I had the next day had been cancelled. I woke up and was going to the washroom, when my mother told me the same thing. Well, my teacher had informed us last week, but I had forgotten to tell my parents. But, the fact that I saw my mother in my dream telling me about it is still true

You probably mean well by suggesting this. The fact is, there is an autism spectrum. In addition, there are other conditions like Aspergers syndrome. Or she simply may have a learning disability. Since you don't say why you think this , or how old she is, there is not much to go on. The best thing you can do for her is to mention your concern to your parents. If this is not possible, then you could speak with an adult at school like a teacher, nurse, or guidance counselor.

Asperger's syndrome is now included in the autism spectrum (it is considered high functioning). I absolutely second your suggestion of speaking to a guidance counselor, or if I may add my own (to OP), try finding some information on your own and leave it where your parents may find it. It's hard to hear something like that, even if you already suspect, but reading about it makes things click.

Asperger's girl here. If you believe your sister may be autistic, please mention it to your parents or someone who will take the thought seriously. If it does seem likely, I would recommend finding someone who specializes in Autism that could diagnose her, if she is on the spectrum. I was ashamed to be on the spectrum at first due to stigma, but autistic does not mean any less smart like some (and I had used to) assume. It is different brain wiring. I still have not completely come to peace with the Asperger's/spectrum label... but none the less it has been so helpful in relating to others, finding people who experienced the same challenges as me, and getting help in navigating them. It turns out the vast majority of the autistic and autistic ally is so sweet, warm, thoughtful, and welcoming! All the best for you and your sister. My life and challenges have become so much better since finding help from other autistic specialists and getting other related help.

The fact that you aren't a doctor makes you more qualified to say if your sister is autistic or not. Trust me as an autistic female the amount of doctors trying to tell me I don't have it simply because I am female is comical! Also if you believe she could have it try to have her diagnosed by an autism specialist (preferably female) because I was suicidal before getting diagnosed because no one believed me and I thought I was so different without an explanation

I work with people with disabilities, and two of my residents got, after decades, finally diagnosed with Autism. Most of us nurses thought they're on the spectrum, but the neurologists and psychiatrists before never considered this. Until recently when they both got each a new doc (different doctors!).

Pulled *away* from the Sun. The sun shines by burning its own fuel, which causes it to slowly lose power, mass, and gravity. The sun’s weaker gravity as it loses mass causes the Earth to slowly move away from it. https://nineplanets.org/questions/getting-closer-sun/
