The main rope is 200 meters long and has 280 smaller ropes attached to it. Ropes are made of rice straw and weigh a total of about 43 tons. 15,000 people on the ropes. 270,000 spectators. A winning team is declared after the rope moves 5 meters or after 30 minutes - whichever happens first. After the contest ends, people cut the rope apart and take a piece as a souvenir. I participated on a team in 1994 and still have a piece of the rope.
