My dad once stopped an armed robbery while drunk.

He'd gone into the local off license to buy some Vodka (for context, he's an alcoholic - 14 years sober now but he was drinking heavily at the time). He was just buying his booze when someone walked in behind him.

This dude was high on drugs and carrying a baseball bat. He shoved my Papa aside and started shouting racial slurs at the young cashier, before demanding all the money from the register. He told Papa that if he moved an inch he'd kill him and then find and kill his whole family too.

However, Papa is a black belt in Aikido and despite being off his face, he jumped into action. The guy managed to hit him full force in the head with the bat twice but by this point, dad already had adrealine and booze strength behind him, so he didn't even feel it.

He basically dog tackled the guy into the rows of wine (breaking all sorts), wrestled the bat away, put him in a hold and sat on him til police arrived. Ended up in the local paper and everything. He went back the following day to buy his usual fix and the cashier said his drinks were on the house for the next month.

Didn't remotely help the alcoholism but in fairness, the cashier wasn't to know. I'm still proud as all hell.

That my mum contind smoking while she was pregnant with me. It hurt me a lot to man so little to her. I have all kinds of health issues and I cannot help but wonder which ones were caused or worsened by her smoking while pregnant or while i was a kid.

Oh boy do I got some
When my mom left, I was very young so I don’t remember much; most things were told to me much later
My mom stole 25k from my dad
She stole all the money out of my piggy bank
She got my dads car taken as evidence for multi-state drug dealing and he never got it back
She got arrested for molesting a 15 year old
Said this on another post, but she wanted to kill me and my brother
She told me I ruined her life and she wished I was never born when I was like 2/3
All those “vacations” she took were actually all the times she went to jail
My brother who still talks to her said she threw her poop at him when they got in an argument
Can’t confirm this one, but the whole situation was very sus; I’m pretty sure she killed our cat
I’m sure there’s a lot more that I don’t remember or wasn’t told but yeah these are the reasons I refuse to talk to her lol

That my grandparents one had sex with a sandwich baggie and a rubber band as protection when they were out of condoms. That’s the kind of conversation you love overhearing when you’re fourteen years old. 🙉

An actual conversation between me and my mom about 20ish years ago.

Me: So what you're telling me is you were a wh**e.
    Mom: No, I was a Sl*t. Wh**e's get paid.
Me: Talk about a missed opportunity for wealth.
Mom: Eh, Its probably better I never got paid, remember we're talking the 70's, so I did a lot of dr*gs too.
    Me: Point taken.

*Please note my mom's one of the few people I will talk that way to and I was like 17 when we had the conversation. The only thing I care about concerning anyone's habits is if its healthy and consensual - you do you boo, I don't judge (unless your my mother, then there's a smidge of judgement - legit I asked her if she had a number once and she just stared at me. So my mother in theory could have had s*x with Tom, D**k, and Harry, she keeps telling me I'm not as funny as I think I am right before she laughed at all of this).

My mom is actively avoiding court in Atlanta, Georgia.
It is over a police officer who gave my mom a $200 ticket for skipping a stop sign. However, my sister and I were both in the car at the time on our way to school because the bus decided to not show up. My mom stopped at that stop sign.

We live in Connecticut but she’s still avoiding the court.

My father phsycologically abused my mother, causing her to unknowingly make me feel like I need to be perfect. I still have a hard time checking my grades

My mom's always been pretty gaslighty/emotionally abusive. But after she left us (me, my dad, and my brother), I found out that she'd been telling my little brother (her son) that he didn't have any other siblings. Which was a total lie, we have two half-brothers from my father's previous marriage. It's pretty weird because we've always talked to him about them, and it turns that he just thought we were making it up. It makes since because he was 8 at the time, but still, what a way to f with a child's brain.
She also used to be super homophobic when I talked about gay stuff when I was little. But she's bi, and I didn't find out until after she left/my early teens.
She did more, but those are just the things that stand out. So yeah, I won't be able to look at her the same after that.

That my dad went to prison for robbing a cigarette store. Only reason he got caught person that work there that was in on it told. But still not a smart thing to do. An later found out byy husband who he talk to that broken in a home when he was younger. An there still something he says he never tell anyone that he did. I still wonder to this day what it could be? I almost want to know but at the same time I don't? I have thoughts. I know what it is not cause I know my dad and know what he would be okay telling me and what he would not. All I can say it must of been a really bad thing. I kinda seen him in different picture but he is still my dad. An I guess he did the best he could he was a okay dad growing up. Definitely settled down after he had us. But after mom died he acts like a young person again. Still wonder to this day
