Okay so this is long, but here it goes….so I’m still alive, after nearly dying twice over the span of 1.5 years, does that count? 🤷🏻‍♀️ Once in 2005, & once in 2007. First time a semi ran my dad & I off the road & just kept going. We were both thrown from the vehicle. My dad was found 80ft away from the car, & was laying face down in a puddle. I was found 30 ft away laying on my back in the middle of the Coquihalla Highway in BC, Canada. My dad is now paralyzed from mid waist down. He broke his spine in a few places, 5 ribs, collapsed lung, whole left arm/wrist broken(he’s left handed too), his pelvis, & a head injury. He now suffers from short-term memory loss. I was luckier in a sense. I just broke my back in one place, compound fracture of my right Tibia, & the Fibula snapped apart but thankfully wasn’t protruding like the Tibia. ( I had some other injuries which can be difficult to discuss, & I’d appreciate it if folks didn’t make vulgar comments. ) Somehow, the broken glass sliced me right between my legs, & this was the injury that nearly killed me as it was causing me severe loss of blood. Fast forward a year & a half. Went to get surgery on the fibula that snapped, but the surgeon said it would heal on its own. It did not. So I go for surgery to have that fixed. One minute I’m being given anesthetic & falling asleep. The next thing I know I’m waking up choking on a pink foam, & can’t breathe. I’ll never forget that feeling of not being able to breathe. All 4 nurses around me looked like they had no idea what to do, & unfortunately the surgeon never stayed to the end of the surgery b/c his vacation was more important. Turns out it was an embolism. During the surgery, a piece of fat from my bone marrow got into my bloodstream, broke into two, one went into my heart, the other, one of my lungs, & nearly killed me. I was in the ICU for awhile after that. Considering how bad our accident was, it could have been so much worse. We were save by good samaritans. The first car that came along had a man who’s job was search & rescue, his gf was with him too. She noticed blood mixed with the rain(from my injuries), running down the slope of the highway. The next car had a dr. & a nurse, then the 3rd car had two firemen in it. I don’t believe in any religion, but this was as close to a miracle I’ve ever experienced. We had everyone we needed to make sure we survived. My dad was drowning in a puddle, & if they were regular citizens, they most likely would have caused my dad to be a quadriplegic by moving him improperly. I’m grateful to those that saved us, but also suffer from PTSD. I already struggled with PTSD before this happened, so as you can imagine, this didn’t help.

I have a second dan (degree) black belt in taekwondo! I've been doing it for around 6 or 7 years now, and I've pretty much done all my black belt training (deputy belt onwards) in the middle of the pandemic.
