Hey Pandas, Tell Us Something You Learned Or Do Now Because Of A Childhood TV Show (Closed)
I grew up on Disney, Nickelodeon, and PBS. Now, there are tons of things that I’ve learned because of the various shows I've seen on these particular channels.
For example, here's a random fact: Did you know that pineapples can float? I learned that in first grade from a show called Fetch: with Ruff Ruffman! I also make spaghetti tacos on a monthly basis because of iCarly!
Therefore, I'd like to ask you Pandas to share your experiences when it comes to our favorite childhood TV shows.

I learned that if you run off a cliff, you will keep running in midair if you don't realize you're running off it.
A lot! In France we had a TV cartoon show called Voici la vie (Here's life). This amazing cartoon explained very easily how the body works. So I know how a vaccine works, how a teeth infection can bring you to death in some case.... Best.TV..Show.Ever....
Loved this show ...ages ago there were a german translation also. 😉
I know it sounds super cheesy, but I learned to never give up and to believe in my inner strength from Sailor Moon.
I wasn't a child when it started but Mythbusters taught me a lot. Like how to escape a sinking car, what terminal velocity and that you might be able to fly to space on a big water heater. I am an engineer today because of the show.
Thanks to Schoolhouse Rock, I learned about the legislative process and how a Bill makes its way to Capital Hill, along with other useful things like grammar: "Conjunction Junction...what's your function?" and science and math.
Same. I still have to recite some of the songs when I can't remember something.
I learned what touche meant and how mood swings worked from My Little Pony. I also started learning how to draw by trying to copy the characters movements and making comics because I couldn't make animations ^^
I used to believe that mouses were highly dangerous creatures and you should never mess with them from Tom and Jerry...
I learned that 12 year olds are allowed to have girl/boyfriends.
Thanks, Gumball and Darwin!
I learned that you can start singing a dancing randomly and everyone will join in
i learned how to act and copy movement from MHA. i know it sounds weird but if I like a scene from the show I will watch it over and over till I memorized it and then I will copy the movement and the words that are being said. I now cosplay and I love to act. I can even make myself cry on command now. sometimes my friends ask me to just act like a certain character and I will just change my mood and actions to match the character. I can do Deku and Bakugon pretty well.
ok i meant bakugo not bakugon it was stupid autocorrect
I learned how to crack my knuckles by bending my fingers backward from one scene in Curious George. Now I bend my fingers like that constantly. I also found out I was double jointed in the fingers that way.
I learned how to pop my knuckles from my brother and multiple cartoon fight scenes. Unfortunately I am not double jointed 😅
I learned from a recent show that me and my little sister watched, the one and only... She-ra and the princess of power... (the new version on Netflix). So I learned,
that im so freaking gay and catra was my idol. PERIODT.
OMG YEES! That show is awesome and I also realized I had a crush on Glimmer lol
I interpreted this to mean shows you watched in childhood, not necessarily children's shows. That being said, I learned from Marcus Welby, M.D. (about a kindly old doctor) that if you were bleeding internally then your stomach/abdomen would be rigid like a board. Later, when I was 19 and married, I had an ectopic pregnancy that ruptured. It didn't hurt too much at first but when I realized my abdomen was literally hard as a board, I went to the emergency room. Marcus Welby, M.D. saved my life.
i think it's the concept of justice i saw in all the cartoon i watch when i was a kid. When i saw injustice it just makes me mad
Not sure it counts as it wasn't a children's show and I was 17 at the time, but I saw a documentary on the (then) new theory of birds having evolved from dinosaurs. I decided I wanted to be a palaeontologist, and about 5 years later I had a degree in Palaeontology. I then moved on to other things, though. Sometimes I regret it, especially not going into Paleoart. But then again, I could paint dinosaurs all day if I wanted and I don't, so...
I learned the barely useful French term, 'omelette du fromage!'
Thank you, Dexter's Laboratory!
Going to date myself here, but Gen X will get it. I learned the elbow trick from Bernadette on ZOOM. :)
learned from Spongebob: In Russia it is illegal to lick doorknobs.
False: the law was “on other planets it is illegal to lick doorknobs”
I learned that, 2D GIRLS CAN BE PRETTY EFFING HOT AND THAT I AM GAY
I learned alot about femininity and masculinity, feelings, LGBTQ+, friendship and love from steven universe. That show prompted me to ask questions that give me a full understanding of it now. It even taught me to accept myself. I watched steven universe when it first came out and honestly I was very scared of all of those things before I watched it. So, it REALLY helped me become who I am today. Another show is Adventure Time. I just loved that one lol.
This always makes me feel so good when I find someone on Bored Panda that likes the same TV show I do. Even though we are never going to meet irl, I feel so happy.
I wash my hands lmao
I learned that being single happens to everyone lmao
But you don't have to be lonely, at farmers only dot com. Shoot that's an ad
Due to Jojo, I pose randomly, and have learned the limits of human anatomy, so that’s cool. Oh, and it also taught me how to do cool hairstyles. I really enjoy wearing josuke’s and Trish’s hairstyles.
I learned about animals from Zoboomafoo (who remembers that show lol?). Specifically, I learned about anacondas and, well, lemurs. I think there was also an episode about kangaroos which FASCINATED me. I thought it was awesome that they could carry their babies in a pouch. I would pretend to be a kangaroo for years afterwards.
From The Time Tunnel: I always remembered the episode about the Titanic. It was the first time I had heard of the shipwreck.
I learned a line of the Cheers theme song from Adventure Time. I remember once my parents brought up Cheers for some reason, and I responded by singing the line. I felt so proud that I had learned about a classic sitcom from way before my time from a cartoon my parents hated.
I, like many generations, learned about manipulation. Whaaaaat?!?!? Don’t believe me? Example: Duck season, rabbit season, rabbit season, duck season FIRE!
I learned from wild kratts that platypuses have a sixth sense!
I learned that no matter how grievous the injury, in the next scene, you'll be completely fine :D
That main characters will ALWAYS be dumb and stupid, while they’re side kick is correct (but ignored). Sooooo... be the side kick who demands attention by the main character and you’ll get ahead in life!!! ;)
Around 80% of all knowledge of animals came from David Attenborough’s many documentaries, Wild Kratts and Octonauts.
Edit: I also learned spanish from the lady sidekick in wild kratts (forgot her name 😞)
I learned that no one can give you your honor. It is something you earn yourself by choosing to do what's right.
I also now do a lot of meditating and dragon dancing. It soothes the soul.
I have a life long love of astro-physics thanks to Carl Sagan's Cosmos and Nova. I'm just an amateur but looking at the stars with wonder and curiosity has been a salve on many a dark and lonely night.
I learned how to parallel
park from an old educational Goofy cartoon
I learned from impractical jokers, no one will question you if your confident. Lol
Also learned from rug rats babies don't go on adventures and speak to each other like that. 😔 miss that show.
I learnt that eating spinach is best muscle gainer. I still eat it whenever i have chance, but preparing the dish is no A B C.
When I was 10, I watched shoot'em up and realized Money makes the world go round, If you have fire and bullets, you can fix bullets between your fingers and shoot em up. AND you can kill people by carrots.
I watched Dora when I was little. So sometimes I'll just remember the spanish word for like bush or something. My friends think Im nuts. Also whenever someone says backpack. I have, HAVE to say 'backpack backpack!!' in a childish voice, and then I run off laughing. As well as every monkey I see is 'boots'
Thanks to Schoolhouse Rock, I couldn't recite the Preamble to the Constitution in middle school without singing it. Still can't.
I thought if you get crushed by something, you will look like a 2D person (since you body will be flat like a pancake)...
Thanks a lot Tom and Jerry
I didn’t learn anything, I would act like the characters! 😂
I watched Sesame Street. When my husband is upset about the pigeon poo anywhere, I remind him that bert loves pigeons and so do I because of that show. Plus it makes great fertilizer for my calla lillies!!
The villain is always someone you know. -Scooby Doo
that super mario tv show taught me that if you overeat you grow wings and turn into a chicken. AOSTH taught me that you hang in midair for a few seconds after running off of a cliff.
i learned that older siblings are snitches from phineus and ferb
i relied if you run off a cliff and dont look down you wont fall >XD
I learned that roadrunners are so fast, they make curved roads staight. And to defeat a guy with eyes on his hands, throw a catus that him
