A guy called my mom, claiming that my dad was at the police station and she needed to pay bail to get him out. She got mad and said, "He's literally sitting right in front of me." The scammer insisted she still had to pay so she hung up.

The scammer called and said I owed the IRS $4000 immediately or I would be arrested on the spot. I had to pay it back in either Target or Best Buy giftcards and no one was to know...

The Apple care scam. And the one that claims that the scammer watched me doing “things”. Replied to him with a email telling him off. Little did he know that the only place where I really use my laptop is my desk and that I was playing Super Mario Galaxy.

Playing this fps game, some guy says he'll trade me a rare sniper skin for a code of mine, give it to him, and he leaves the game. Good news is the code was for something I already had plus I don't like it that much anyway. His name is ShiningStarsYt he is always code begging so don't trade with him

Unfortunately had a friend of mine in college get trapped by an ugly one. Some guy calls her insisting that her name/SSN are tied up in an illegal drug case and she needs to submit proof that she doesnt have any drugs in her living area. Sent this weirdo pics of car, dorm room, and herself (after which he insisted on nudes “to prove shes not hiding them under clothes/inside private places”) before I heard about it and got cops involved :(

Just yesterday at the end of school I get a message saying "Please check this app out. Click here (insert link)". It was an obvious scam and deleted the message.

My mom got a call recently that said she was gonna be arrested for her insta being involved in something suspect unless she paid the guy. The caller actually said suspect. She only has 1 account to any major social media app, and it’s not Instagram.

A family friend needed help setting up a webcam on his computer so we went over to his house. When we got on his computer, a weird thing kept popping up, saying that he needed to pay to get the drivers on his computer fixed. We asked him about it and he said that some people called him and gave him a large amount that he had to pay to get it fixed and that he had to install some app on his computer. We looked up the app on google and it said it was a scam, so we had to go through his computer and delete everything that had to do with it. I'm glad we got there before he gave them any money though.

Not really a scam BUT a couple of months ago, "Stephen Egerton" from the punk group Descendents sent me a message on IG, asking me all kinds of questions about myself, talking about how much he loves interacting with fans, asking if I wanted to get together and hang out before a show, etc. Now, what makes this really funny is that the REAL Stephen is married to my best friend of over 30 years, so I knew immediately it wasn't him. I strung the guy along for a little bit, mainly to make sure he wasn't trafficking or anything like that, making sure to screen shot the conversation as we went along, and eventually told him I knew he was a scammer. Boy, that shut the conversation down QUICK! I texted Stephen and told him about it but the person must have deleted the account immediately because he couldn't find it.
