If you’ve ever adopted a rescued pet share a picture of them here and tell us their story! Were they a stray or from an animal shelter?

My Friend Brought Him To Me From The Carpentry Workshop, Skinny Kitten, A Brave Little Creature Who Brought Joy Into My Life, Into My Every Day
This Is Oliver, I Adopted Him From The Shelter In 2019. He's One Of 11 Rescue Cats I Have. He's A Sweetheart And Loves Everyone
Aari And Winnie, My Latest Rescue Cats, Adopted 4 Months Ago
Aari was confiscated along with all the other animals on a farm because the conditions in which they had to live were so terribly bad. He is still traumatized and doesn't like to be touched so much, but he has already gained some trust and likes to play catch with me. Winnie was brought to the shelter (after 5 years spent with a family) because she just wasn't wanted anymore. I still shake my head over this because she is the funniest and sweetest cat you could ask for!
Evan, My Most Recent Rescue. I Found Him On The Side Of The Road In June. He Was In A Spot Where People Are Known To Chuck Kittens Out Of Windows
Aww poor baby how could anyone do that?! His lil fangs are adorable 🥺
Our Names Are Gimmie (Left) And Max (Right). We Came To The Shelter As Kittens And In Fostercare With Our Human. We Made Our Foster Mommy Fall In Love With Us So We Could Stay With Her Because She Spoils Us So Much. Me (Gimmie) Was Found At A Golfcourse With My Siblings And No Mom And Max Was Brought To The Shelter By His Last Owner
My Bunny, Potato She Unfortunately Had Leg Issues And Slowly Couldn't Walk And Her Old Owners Have Her Away, She Died June 2022
This Is Eminem. He Was A Stud Dog Until His Owner Died And The Family Didn't Want Him
He was turned in to a humane society who then brought him to the animal clinic where I worked to be neutered. When I walked into the ward I said "hi, how are you" and went on. Later the other employees asked me what i did to him. I told them I said "hi, why?" They said he'd screamed and howled but was quiet after I came in. He was my little man before the day was out and was my shadow until he passed on.
This Is Cootie Bugg. Named After The Game Cootie
Cootie was brought in at 2-3 days old when I worked at an animal clinic. He was found in a factory parking lot and had been visciously attacked. Possibly a jealous Tom cat. He had deep puncture wounds on the back of his neck, a chunk missing from his hip and leg, and a horribly infected eye. He should NOT have survived. But he recovered. His eye had scar tissue from cornea to retina that looked like a galaxy being formed. I called him Cootie Bugg because it was literally a toss of the dice we were able to put him back together.
My Rat Boys, Bill, Ozzy, Geezer, And Tony
Don't know if I'd call it a rescue but I did get them from an animal shelter three months ago. The people at the shelter had previously found and taken in a bunch of rats with mixed sexes; and of course all of the females were pregnant, so consequently they ended up with a ton of young rats. Four of which ended up being mine. :-)
My Rescue Whippet Cross Fay When She Was A Puppy
She was a found as a stray at only a few months old and taken in by someone who ‘rescued ‘ animals but was sadly more of an animal hoarder and kept Fay in a small pen with lots of other dogs and a fox cub. They were all rescued but Fay had a load of parasites and diseases and was basically feral and hated other dogs 😅 she did mellow a lot over the years though and even let us adopt a smaller dog too. She passed away peacefully in her sleep last year but had a very long and happy life running on the beach and chasing cats, she was such a soppy old thing she used to catch up with the cats and just lick them wagging her tail 😂
Margeaux (See Comments)
We have 4, but I missed the Catahoula challenge recently, so I had to post Margeaux! She, her mother and at least one sibling were brought into a shelter in rural Indiana (USA) after their owner passed away. Not sure how long before they were found, but they were left outdoors in the dead of winter. She was petrified of everything--there was no way we could leave her there. It has taken a lot of work, but she's a happy, healthy, approachable pup! She's been with us for almost 4 years now, and has one other dog and 2 cat siblings. All adopted from shelters in the region.

Grandpets
I've Had Six Dogs, All Rescues, In My Life. But Lucy Had The Greatest Story Out Of All Of Them (See Comments For Full Story)
Where I am from, we have this disease called Valley Fever. Basically, it is a fungus that grows in our soil and when inhaled, it can grow in one's lungs and cause some damage. It is actually easily treatable, but can cause some serious damage if left untreated. Lucy was diagnosed with Valley Fever when she was a puppy, and instead of her previous owners taking her to the vet, they dumped her on the side of the road in town. It moved from her lungs to her bones, causing irreversible damage. She was eventually found and taken to a shelter, where she was treated but was not getting better. It got to a point where there was talk about amputating two of her legs, and even euthanizing her. Thankfully, an organization focused on sick and special needs animals caught onto her case, and offered to put her in foster care to see if that special attention can help her get better. It did. (Running out of space, see additional comments).
Found Crying Under A Bush In My Sister's Backyard
He stayed under my bed for days. Fed him by hand. It was weeks before he felt comfortable joining my and my other cat in the living room. A year until he sat on the sofa with me. Another year until he sat on my lap. It's been 11 years, and very happy.
My Cats Cinnamon (Orange Male) And Pepper (Black Female) ❤️
Heres Cinnamon 👍🏻❤️
Tiny The Mastiff, And Stormi The Pitbull. Tiny Was Rescued From Horrible Conditions At 6 Days Old. Stormi Had Been Surrendered Twice To The Humane Society Before She Was 8 Months Old. They Are Now In Their Forever Home With Our Family
Tiny is only 4 months old now. Stormi is almost 3 years old. They are perfect sisters!
Mosin & Remi
Remi(right) was terrified of everything and made of just skin and bones when we adopted her. She would only eat out of the staff's hands in the shelter, was frightened of most inanimate objects and had a nervous pee problem (we found this out after we brought her home). Luckily, she gained weight fairly quickly and gained confidence to get over most of her issues. Thunderstorms and fireworks still terrify her, but that's pretty normal. She's now the sweetest pupper. Mosin (left) had never been in a house before adopting him at just under a year old. It was a huge challenge to house and potty train him especially since he's a big boy. We thought about changing his name to "No" and constantly cleaning up pond sized pee puddles was really frustrating. Now he's an 85lb lap dog that I couldn't imagine not having in my life. These pups are my first ever dogs and I'm so proud of them!
Lola
Lola was found living under a bridge by the SPCA. She was FIV+, had feline herpes, poor girl's eyes and nose all pussed up...now she's 9 years old, and ended up rescuing me back after I was in a hit and run/drunk driving MVA that turned my life upside down several years ago ❤️. I don't know what I'd ever do without her
Titus Was A Tiny Kitten When He And 2 Siblings Were Abandoned In The Deep Snow. A Stray Dog Kept Them Safe And Warm By Lying On Top Of Them Until The Kittens Were Rescued. The Dog Was Too Afraid Of Humans To Allow Itself To Be Caught. It's Been 10 Years And I Still Think About That Dog. I'm Very Grateful
Maggie Insisting That I'm Not Allowed To Grade These Quizzes Until After Snuggles
Mags came from a household where a couple had moved in together and ended up with four cats and three dogs. It was just way too many animals for them, and Maggie was making everyone's life a nightmare because she wouldn't stop aggressively attacking all the other animals. It was like living in a horror movie where the monster weighs six pounds and has no front claws. She's much happier as an only cat.
