I'd like you to share your New Year's resolutions.

#1

I have several related to objectives/goals, but the most important one is to be kinder to myself. I treat me like c**p, and I've given myself a stern lecture: if I don't stop saying bad things about me, I'm going to put myself in time out.

I need to do the same. Self care for once. It’s not selfish.

#2

Finish the novel I'm working on (my second) and start another one.

Good luck. I wrote 5000 words during NaNoMo and haven't touched it since lol.

Call a friend or family member once per week (a different person each week) just to talk and catch up and see how they are.

For 3 years, I have tried to join and open a FacesofMankind.org in New York City. Never got a response. My new year’s resolution is to go out on my own visiting the homeless individuals and encampments in the East Village asking to be part of MY OWN “Faces of the East Village”.
To my surprise and delight, every one I interviewed agreed to let me photograph and paint their portraits. These people will be the recepients of the proceeds from the sales of the paintings.
It will take awhile, as I am alone in this…and have to beome a legal Not-For-Profit.
However, I am undaunted, and have begun my first painting…Eduardo.
It has been quite humbling to hear people’s stories about how they got where they are.
I hope you will check out Faces of Mankind…it is quite remarkable.

I was just diagnosed with ADHD. At age 68. Hopefully next year I'll be able to understand myself better and not feel like a loser. And maybe gain some tools to help with my brain.

I want to explore art. My art was discouraged and criticized when I was young so I gave it up. I'm going to embrace my art even if no one likes it but me.

Yayyy! Art for art's sake! Friends, family and even art teachers can do more harm than good when it comes to creativity. I wish that I hadn't shut down my artistic aspirations when I was younger because I was afraid of others opinions. Your creative outlet is more important than the idle and often ignorant opinions of others. Seek out the company of other artists or art students who can at least appreciate the effort and your abilities.

It is very difficult to rein in a generous heart. Unfortunately it's extremely attractive to the least generous people out there.

For no particular reason, I've decided to learn ASL (American Sign Language). Shortly after making this decision, I watched Barbie on Netflix and they had an ASL translator - very cool. Then I was scrolling FB one day, and my favorite band had posted a video at a concert of a girl signing the words to the song to her friend. I feel like there was a third "sign" I've forgotten... and so that's my goal.

To drink more water, I usually have 4 or 5 cans of pepsi max and no water each day but 2024 is the year of starting to drink more water and less fizzy drink. A secondary one is to eat more healthily as I need a hernia repair operation and the surgeon won't do it until I've lost about 40 kilos. Taking it 1 kilo at a time.

Try carbonated water! I'm a carbonation addict, and it's the only way I can drink plain water.

Well, that IS your new year's resolution. As typical to most of us, you'll break your resolution eventually. Which is kinda good news, I'd say.

I don't ever make New Year's Resolutions. I find it odd to tie change to a calendar. I try to be self-aware, whether January 1st or mid-November. Happy New Year!

I have had more fun traveling alone than any trips with an SO. I loathe having to compromise on what experiences I can enjoy when I only have a week or two. I highly recommend Hostelling International or USA Hostel. Some locations have age restrictions/curfews but many do not. It's far less expensive and you'll meet people from all over the world wherever you're traveling to.

Continue working towards my next belt in Karate. I plan to be a Blue Belt before the end of the year.

Drop down below 200 pounds. My ideal goal is to end up anywhere between 180-190 pounds.

I read that as drop down BY 200 pounds, to 180...I won't argue with a 400lb karate expert :)

I never lend, I always give. If someone wants to borrow money I tell them my financial situation and what I can afford to give them. I never ask for it back. That way I do not resent them.

Get a job that pays slightly better and doesn't have such toxic managers/coworkers. (More like a pipe dream. There's no full-time jobs in this area that I can physically do. But since every day I have to remind myself that if I walk out, my family ends up homeless, I'm gritting my teeth and biting tongue.)

More quality time with the dog.
It's not that we hadn't had quality time last year. He was just quite a challenging puppy and walking him was a lot of work at first. Additionally I broke my ankle last year and recovery took more than half a year.
Now I want to enjoy the fruits of our hard work and have more of those relaxing, long, free walks with doggo. Maybe we can even start running in a few months.

I consider it a "re solution" as in a new solution to an issue I m having. that way if you don't follow it, you don't feel like a failure You just need to re solution it!! oh, and I'm going to limit sugar and dairy intake The more specific., the better the results
