While making mashed potatoes I soak the shaved skins in water. Squeeze excess water off and dry them out in the oven. When dry I add garlic and olive oil, salt and pepper until crisp. I top the mashed potatoes with the crispy chips

My family rave over my mulled wine every year.

    1l water
    250g caster or granulated sugar
    2 oranges, halved
    6 whole cloves
    6 whole allspice
    2 cinnamon sticks
    ¼ nutmeg, freshly grated
    small piece ginger, sliced

Slowly heat all the ingredients until just boiling. Turn down the heat and simmer for 20 minutes. Allow to cool, squeeze out the oranges, then strain. Heat with 2 bottles of cheap red wine.

Not food, but a packer of Swiss miss hot chocolate plus instant coffee, with added half and half and whipped cream. It's how I start my day in winter
