Open your eyes.
Look at the facts.
Ignore the media's lies
It's not 'all an act'.

People are dying.
Crying.
They're not lying.
We need to start trying.

Wake up.
Pay attention.
As humans,
We need correction.

Numbers don't lie.
But the media does.
The media is just people.
People unlike us.

They feel the need to blame
Because they don't feel the same
So, they tend to create shame.

But this is not a game.

We aren't to blame.

We feel no shame.

It's not our fault.
It's not our fault.
You're what killed us.
Your fault. Your fault.

Don't ignore us.
Resistance is futile.
Don't ignore us.
We aren't vile.

We need your help.
Save our lives!
Wake up! Wake up!
Before we die.

Goodbye.

There once was a running turtle
    His little name was Myrtle
Then he lost to a hare,
    Oh by golly I swear,
    that poor little running turtle.

So uh it's a haiku and I made it in 5th grade and was forced to read it for a poetry reading in front of half the grade so there's that lol

    " Guide me forth,
    Unto the edge of darkness,
    And we shall hide,
    The light of day.....
    Find me a place,
    On that darkened shore,
    And we may hide,
    Forevermore....."

    Nature’s Advice

The lights of the city glimmer like the night sky,
The traffic lights twinkle like a Christmas tree.
I take a deep breath as I stand on a mountain,
Looking down at my city, my home.
Street lights blink on as darkness falls,
    Dark and obsolete.
People fall asleep as I stand on the mountain,
The cool wind playing with my hair,
    Pine scent caressing my nose.
    Thunderclouds build ahead,
    Tall like a tower,
    Fluffy like a pillow.
    Lightning strikes, bright and quick,
And thunder answers, deep and powerful.
    I look to the West,
    At the storm building up,
Then I look to the East,
At the city falling asleep and waking up at the same time.
I stand on that mountain, looking down at that valley,
And forget the busy life ahead of me.
I forget the work, I forget the business,
Even if it is for a minute.
I listen to the wind, singing me a song.
I listen to the pines, advising me to slow down.
I smell the oncoming rain, promising a clean start.
I see the clouds, telling me to stand tall.
I see the lightning, instructing me to stay grounded.
I hear the thunder, saying that it is okay to be loud.
I look down at the shining city,
My city, my home, assuring me that there would always be a place there for me.
I close my eyes, taking in the cool air, the fresh feel,
And I slow down and take in the beauty of Nature.
I listen to the crisp snap of branches as I walk back to the campsite,
    Thinking about Nature’s advice.
I tuck it away, keeping the sight and the sound and the feel with me,
And I think about it every day,
Taking Nature’s advice to slow down, and enjoy life.

Inspired by me actually standing on a mountain looking down on the city I live in.
