As most of you are aware Christmas is known to be a family-based Holiday in Western countries, and without a doubt... that means a family gathering. And usually, family gatherings are a good place to be at when it comes to some juicy gossip or drama.

No drama to report, only best wishes to everyone here for a very Merry Christmas Day and a Happy New Year, too.
And Happy Holidays to All !
May your blessings be many and your troubles be few. :-D

No drama. Just utter sadness. Millie the 19 yo feisty, anti social black and white fluff ball who has had a red flag marker on her vets record (she really doesn’t like vets) passed away this morning.

Sooo, I spent weeks in advance researching Christmas recipes, two days shopping for products at different places and got cold on top of that. Began cooking at noon. Made tons of artfully arranged food. Husband comes back from work, carries kimchi and sliced beef. Ignores the food and proceeds to eat grilled beef and kimchi, because this is what he wanted to eat( basically quite simple daily food). Kids are bewildered, I was mad .He finishes his meal and goes back to the office.

I got fat shamed by my mother Christmas morning. My father in law complained about the gifts we got him and then complained more when he opened up gifts from my mother in law. While playing games he proceeded to yell and get upset because "we weren't playing right" and made him lose. So pretty much a standard christmas for me.

My girlfriend broke up with me, and then two days later asked me to date her best friend. I refused of course, and then they both start sending me text basically saying, kys. I blocked them so they cam to my house and started beating on my door, I told them to go away or I would call the cops. It took another half hour for them to leave, and when I walked outside two days later(christmas day) there was a not on my doormat out front with a knife inside. The card read, qoute:"best wishes this holiday season, enjoy it like it is your last," That happened yesterday so I'm very scared. Ive locked all my doors and windows and hoping they don't show up.

This is the only kind of drama I care to hear about. Your cats are so cute.

Nothing new, but we don't participate in my husband's family gatherings anymore. LONG story, but his oldest sister built a huge house using the money she pilfered from the family business, so she "hosted" the family events. She had a falling out with their oldest brother, and told him that he and his family were not welcome in her home. But she didn't tell their father, who lives out of state and is long divorced from their mother. Anyway, when this happened, my husband had enough. We went to the gathering just to drop off gifts for the kids, then turned to leave. Dad wants to know why we are leaving, and my husband explains that it is no longer a family event because sister is selectively uninvited people. Dad is livid to learn his son and son's family won't be coming. We leave, and apparently all heck breaks loose. That was probably 10 years ago, and we've not all been in the same place together again since.

Can you invite the dad and oldest brother and family for get togethers? Good riddance to the oldest sister.

My FIL (divorced my MIL ten years ago) showed up uninvited, ate only ham dinner, complained about food, complained about "Woke Liberals", then stole a present from our 97 year old great-grandma and made an Irish goodbye.

Well.... turns out that those presents I thought were to make my bf laugh were almost all a huge disappointment to him. "It's like you gave me presents for our kids to use", he said. And I have had this knot in my chest since. Because I really, truly thought that since he hadn't made a wishlist at all until mid-December then I was free to get him some more fun presents. And yeah, they were ALSO intended for him to have some fun with the kids with. So, if it's even a thing, that is internal drama for Christmas to me. 😕

And then, on the 25th I made a video call with my mom. The kids were supposed to do the call but they weren't really interested when we rang her up. I tell her about the presents we got and how our eldest kid (aged 6) had made so many presents at school. My mom looked so f0cking hurt and envious that my kid made stuff for her paternal grandparents and for my dad's wife. My mom has not gotten her presents yet so she doesn't know yet that my kid actually didn't make her anything. And also, I wonder if she will be upset that our 6yo didn't get to make her a present? She loathes her half-nephew who is 4yo because he... uhmm... is noisy and has noisy toys. And because her father talks so much about the boy. So... there may be some post-Christmas drama coming. If it does, it will be short-lived since I'll then go NC with my mom. So... there's that.

My nephew had the flu and didn't come. My niece started feeling bad during the celebration, left to go to a clinic and found out she had COVID. Then her car died on the way home and her parents had to get it towed. My MIL made one mildly racist comment. Then proceeded to argue with me about something she was wrong about. Finally everyone talked non-stop about my nephew's upcoming trip to Norway, but no one said a thing about my family's upcoming trip to Belize. So yeah, a pretty typical Christmas for us.
