My mom’s house has a rock wall in the back yard and sometimes on sunny days we go out and see 15-20 of them out basking in the sun on the wall

Perhaps you need to learn more about peacocks. There are wild peacocks throughout the world including Hawaii where I took this photo of a feral peacock that was by my house.
