In addition to plant damage, when spotted lanternflies feed, they excrete a sugary substance, called honeydew, that encourages the growth of black sooty mold."

I wish I had seen this before it closed. I had some bugs in my yard that I still have not been able to id. Asked a couple people and they came back with meals worms. Which I googled and they look Nothing like meal worms at any stage. Have always seen part of them in my yard and always thought they were from a plant. Until I noticed a maple leaf that had fallen. It was a nest of these that had hatched. I have videos of them. But no idea what they are.
I wish it hadnt closed so quick i was enjoying learning about them! I’ll see if i can do another post! 🙂
