What have you, a friend, or a family member made that was done horribly wrong?

Eye Of Sauron Salted Caramel Cheesecake
Perfect for when your hosting a Lord of the Rings movie marathon. One cake to rule them all!
It still probably tasted great. Next time mix one packet of plain gelatin per pound of cream cheese before baking. It really helps prevent splitting and results in a nice smooth texture. Just, y'know, mix it really well.
The trick to a non-cracked cheesecake is taking it out of the oven when you're ready to turn the heat off, running a knife around the outter edge, and then putting it back in the oven to set for 90 minutes for a slow cool down like you'd normally do. The reason it cracks is because when it contracts when cooling, it pulls on itself and if it's stuck to the side, it'll crack.
I'd still eat it. Dangle caramel cheesecake in front of me, and I won't care if it looks like dog doo.
I Turned Rosemary And Garlic Potatoes Into Expensive Charcoal Brickettes
What they started out as..🤣 Wattie-s-R...96b3b.jpeg
Rosemary and garlic potatioes sound delicious, but perhaps 10 minutes earlier?
I wonder if you still could've scraped the skin off and eaten the guts. Maybe "guts" isn't the right word. Potato...meat?
Keep them for Christmas & offer them to neighbours with naughty kids, LOL. They’ll never know the difference between coal & these overly-charred potatoes! 😂
Abt's. Grease Fire That Got Out Of Control. I Think They Are Done
They look nuclear. Hah hah, I'm trying to think what in the world they started out as.
Instructions said "cook until evenly coloured" but I still see some variation. Back in they go, I say.
Load More Replies...did something similar with a piece of toast in a toaster oven, it caught fire
Oml, for a moment there, I straight-up thought someone decided to grill up some rodents!! 😳🤦♀️😂
Looks The Same, Tastes Very Different!
Oh no... You didn't smell the difference? I mean, they're both very fragrant and dissimilar. Well, my sister once made a pan of cumin rolls so I guess it's more common than I realized.
I don't have a particularly good sense of smell, so I have to double check that I'm using the right one. And I still occasionally get it wrong.
Load More Replies...Had a friend accidently use cinnamon instead of chili powder to make a huge pot of chili. This is why you don't brag about your cooking and drink and then try to cook 😄
If you're using all brown-ish spices interchangably, you're having an interesting set of dinners. Now mixing up between flat leaf parsley and cilantro/coriander I understand --- but again while cutting you totally smell the mistake.
My mom once mistook the hot pepper for paprika and wondered why the guests weren't eating the chicken....
Costco cumin and Cinnamon are in similar containers. Guess which one I put on my toast?
Shrimp & Sausage Queso; It Was Still Edible But It Was So Thick We Couldn't Scoop It Up With The Chips. Indeeded Up Turning It Into Mac&cheese Instead Lol
Yet another dish that makes me sad I've become allergic to shrimp. It looks quite yum.
Attempted To Make Salted Caramel Brownies. Caramel Sauce Was Added On Top Way Too Soon And Basically Became The World's Hardest Toffee It Tasted Decent But That Crust Was A Literal Pain To Bite Through
I'm sorry, but that still looks amazing and I would eat the Hell out of that.
So the hard layer would slow you down... Not sure that's such a problem either.
Load More Replies...I also added way too much chocolate, you couldn't eat it without ice cream or else it was too rich
I bet whipped cream would have helped too. Oh no, please don't make me eat deliciously rich chocolate toffee dessert with ice cream and whipped cream... 😁
Load More Replies...Ngl, I just came back to this and reading all of your guy's comments has made me feel better ^^ i was a little scared to post this but the support makes me feel a bit more confident ab myself
I would have demolished this! I LOVE the crunchy part of brownies. YUM!! ..... Now I want some homemade brownies!
Italian Wedding Cookies That Melted Immediately
Too much butter/lard/oil and needs a bit more chilling before the bake. I bet it cut apart into flat bars just fine.
Luckily this was the first of many batches, so I was able to adjust and chill the dough properly!
Load More Replies...Now I kind of want to make them as bars. No more rolling and shaking dozens of warm cookie balls in powder sugar!
What a brilliant idea! Love this!
Load More Replies...Definitely! And we made them with Ghee, so even more oily :)))))
Load More Replies...Woops...too much butter? I accidentally did that with fudge once!
Baking With Celiac Can Be Fun. Gluten Free Doughnuts Before Frying. Delicious Anyway
The taste is what's most important. It looks like you managed to get a decent rise, which is hard without gluten.
For gf donuts, you need gf donut pans. They look like mini bundt cake pans in muffin pan format.
"Gluten free" isn't gluten free, but wheat-free. Wheat has a good amount of gluten, while oat, rice, buckwheat etc don't have the same gluten nor the same amount of gluten. Try using glutinous rice, making a dough-mochi mix to get something that's more solid structure.
Gluten isn't only found in wheat, but in barley and rye too. So a recipe can be wheat free but not necessarily gluten free. There are also derivatives of wheat that contain gluten but are not necessarily classed as wheat (from an ingredient stand point) such as spelt. So therefore, gluten free means gluten free.
Load More Replies...I always use a silicone donut tray with my gluten free ones, so much easier
Mango Squares - Tasted Like Eggs 😭
Mmmm if only it was egg yolk. You could cut out squares of it to make egg sandwiches! 😋
I Don't Even Remember What This Was Supposed To Be 💀
I think it was supposed to be bread or pastry braided around cheese, and sprinkled with decorative red sugar.
Load More Replies...It looks like an attempt at a Mardi Gras King Cake. Perhaps with a melted baby Jesus.
I thought giant isopod/woodlouse. There's some 'sand bugs' like that.
Load More Replies...My first thought was a stuffed lobster tail until I zoomed in. It's bread stuffed with cheese and sprinkled with red fairy dust, duh.
Cake Turned Out Fine, But It Spilled Into The Oven While Baking. House And I Smelled Like Burnt Cake For Days
Made this to celebrate the 11th year of my mom being free from my dad. I'm not the best at frosting and decorating cakes, but it tasted good. I think the original cake recipe called for 9 inch pans, but I used 8 inch, not realizing. Oh well, you live, you learn
Honestly doesn't look too bad either. Practice makes perfect, hopefully you and your family are doing well ❤️🩹
Load More Replies...Green Walnut Jam :)) It Was Still Edible, But It Was Very Liquid (No Consistency)
It looks like the ingredients didn't get cooked lol I would recommend turning the oven on
I've never heard of green walnut jam, but it looks like this needed a bit more time to cook off the water. I'm sure it'll be better next time.
I made nasturtium jelly recently, but I didn't have any pectin. I tried both lemon peel with citric acid, and lemon seeds but it hasn't set at all!
I once tried to make a fruit cake. It said to add the whisked eggs while the mixture was warm. It was too hot, the eggs scrambled and then the whole thing turned to toffee. Didn't bake another cake for 30 years.
What a sad story. Remember if at first you don't succeed find another recipe.
Load More Replies...Just a few days ago I made my first ever loaf of banana bread. I followed the instructions to the letter, but it came out dense and gummy. The trash can smells delicious right now though 🤣
Probably overmixed. Quick breads like banana bread need to be barely mixed together like pancake batter.
Load More Replies...Why is this a challenge? I swear I made it an ask pandas
I accidentally put in taco seasoning instead of cinnamon into an apple crisp. It was for my dad's birthday and we couldn't remake it for another month or so. My sister once accidentally put in a cup of salt instead of a teaspoon in sugar cookies. No amount of extra sugar could make them edible.
Once made the common mistake of mixing up baking soda and baking powder. Made the Nightmare Cake (my family named it that) my dad tried it and literally had to chug from the milk carton then threw up in the sick it was so bad tasting. It took me a year before I baked again
Learned to always label containers because, although I can *usually* keep track of everything in my kitchen, there comes a point where my brain hits critical mass and I mistake the powdered sugar for flour...that was the hardest batch of cinnamon rolls I ever tried to roll out. They just WOULD NOT cooperate. It wasn't til I put them in the oven and watched them melt that I realized that it was sugar I was working by hand, and not flour. Stress from over work does wild things to the brain. Hella proud I was able to force them into submission and get a good roll before they went into the oven tho.
I marinated shrimp in white wine vs. deglazing the pan with it. It wasn't edible and kinda turned me against cooking shrimp. I've learned what it means to deglaze a pan in the 20 years since... Beer, wine, garlic soy, meat or veggie broth. I'm going to make some gumbo with shrimp and sausage next week. I'm hoping to redeem myself ;)
I tried my luck with a poke cake, not doing that ever again 😭 Directions just sucked on box.
I have never used written directions for a poke cake. I just make a 9x13 pan cake, let it cool, poke holes all over the top going down to the bottom of the pan for most of them,. Then slowly pouring in liquid jello or sweetened condensed milk, taking breaks to let it soak in and then chilling it overnight. Were your directions different?
Load More Replies...I managed to screw up Bisquick biscuits earlier today. They were too dry and they came out thick and heavy instead of fluffy.
