When I studied drawing back in 1991, one lesson used Théodore Géricault’s famous painting “The Raft of the Medusa,” to illustrate composition based upon interlocking triangles, and how such an arrangement of elements provided a stabile scaffolding for the tension in the subject matter. I wanted to give that concept a go myself and created this. Almost everything in this drawing is a triangle (rectangles are just two triangles together). The stability of the interlocking shapes pushes back against the light flooding in, while my cat gazes outward, frozen in indecision at the threshold as they so often do. Materials were sanguine Conté crayon and graphite on Moulin de Larroque Paper (11x11 cm). I didn’t know much about pastel fixatives back then and applied it too heavily, thus losing a lot of the original contrast. But I felt it was a successful piece for what I wanted to accomplish overall. image_5041...a99594.jpg
This is beautiful! The idea came out so well. Triangles are really powerful, and they work together here to make a strong composition. Though, I am sure I am missing out on so much as I have only just begun to learn about composition. Still, this is lovely.
Load More Replies...I can't upload anything to the main post so hopefully I can post here. This is Scree, he's from an old PS2 game called Primal and I drew him about a year after the game came out (2004). 20180110_2...b24f6b.jpg
I can't upload a picture for some reason? I tried different sizes, formats, browsers, but it doesn't seem to work. Anyone else got that problem?
I couldn't upload it, so I'll post it here instead IMG_202111...68db4b.jpg
It doesn’t let me post gosh darn it, but these are all super cool! I’m a mediocre artist at best of times haha :D
It seems that we were unable to publish new images to the post. That's why I post it here in the hope that someone will see it. This was my last painting, it's called "The Metamorphosis of the Kiss". Spray and Acrylic on canvas. metamorfos...517622.jpg
Not sure is this my favorite work. But still sometimes i feel the same way like this girl in my art under_wate...d0b794.jpg
Wow! That’s really impressive artwork.
Load More Replies...This is an aardwolf in the sunset. I used both color and composition in this, so though it is not the most technically advanced, it is balanced. IMG-2026-6...fc72e5.jpg
WHY WON'T THIS WORK??? I tried 5 times to post something, but it just wouldn't post!!!
I can't add to the actual post, but I wanted to share something here... I recently started watching Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss, so naturally, my fanart-obsessed self wanted to draw characters from it. I've currently drawn Angel Dust and Cherri Bomb, and I'm working on a drawing of Stolas (I'll update when/if I finish it haha)
Seems this post won't allow anyone to add photos for some reason, so I'll add here my painting of the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin, looking up to the sky. holocaust-...fb09e8.jpg
