“Fluffy Food Thieves”: 38 Of The Best Photos Of Pets Trying To Steal Food Or Beverages, As Shared By The Panda Community
Have you ever caught your pet trying to steal food? If you are here, then it means that you most likely have.
As funny as it sounds, pets do not regard objects as "yours/theirs." In fact, most animals are quite opportunistic. However, house pets can be trained to learn that some items are off-limits. Still, most of them, even when they are made aware of this, will still attempt to steal food when out of sight, and then run away, concealing themselves while doing so, if they perceive an opportunity.
With that being said, I asked some Pandas to share pictures of their pets being caught at the "crime scene."

Crockpot Thief
We joke at my house that a dinner isn't a real dinner unless you find a pet hair in there somewhere. And it's not like my house is filthy or my cooking techniques are sketchy or anything like that! The dang hair just floats around in the air!

I had a kitten a few years ago, we were having a bbq and put some steaks in the kitchen after grilling. Looked inside and he stole one about the same size as him and ran off in the house somewhere. We never found where he stashed it.
Years ago my Shepard Misty ate a whole turkey that she knockd on the floor. She looked at me and "said" What mMiss hr
Caught A Popcorn Bandit!
Speaking of popcorn...has anyone tried the popcorn M&M's? I am on the fence about them.
Yes! They are gross! Like a regular M&M, but with a fake butter flavor, a weird greasy feel, and a crispy texture. Truly awful.
Load More Replies...Parrots will steal (?) any food that is appealing to them and within their reach.
Really not good for them, especially the microwave stuff which is toxic to birds.
It's toxic to people too. Much healthier just to get a microwave popper and air pop your own.

Thank you. She got it because she was more energetic than her grandmother Biscuit who never met. I wanted an edible name that meant high energy. Plus, her coloring looks like a coffee cake swirl.
Load More Replies...My black cat cricket literally swiped a piece of pop tart out of my hands this morning. Just swatted it as she stared into my eyes daring me to do anything about it.
My cat did the same thing except it was a whole entire slice 🍕.....I never got the pizza back....
Everyday Usual
As they slowly but surely creep ever closer to the plate. Looks like the second picture was taken when they were finally in range.
Load More Replies...That dog would weigh 300 pounds in my house... I can't resist those eyes. Thankfully, mine don't do this, or they would be fat as ticks.
My dog sits here and watches me like this. He gets as close as possible with those puppy dog eyes but the SECOND he sees/hears me crinkling up my trash, he’s OUT OF THERE. Lol
My Kitty Stealing Food At A Possum Convention :-O
These photos usually go the other way, with the cat surprised by a possum snagging food. Possum on the right looks kinda shocked
A lot of people don't like opossums. I think they are sweet. One possum can eat up to 5,000 ticks in a season. Please be kind to them. I am not so fond of ticks...
The only tick safe to be around is the kind that says "tock" right after!
Load More Replies...I have possums that live in my garage...they hang out with the cats all the time, and they all share food without arguing. I've always thought the cats think of the possums as distant, backwoods cousins.
We gained a stray once, when he started eating food left for hedgehogs. Got a pic of him on one side of the plate and a couple of hoglets on the other.
Lol. My mom was complaining about her cats getting into her bread and the garbage while she was asleep. It was odd, because the cats had been there for years and never did it before. Here, it was raccoons coming in through her crawl space at night. The maintenance guy had left a latch open when he worked on the furnace. 😂😂 She had masked intruders.
Mmmm
I think so too...and it looks like it was found to be delicious!
Load More Replies...Maple The Chip Licker
Note to all: Be careful with which chips/crisps you let your cats lick - onions and garlic are both toxic to cats, and many chip brands/flavors have onion and/or garlic powder as flavoring/seasoning. Because it is a powderized form, it's even more potent than if your cat ate a piece of onion or garlic. Your cat likely will not die from a lick of a Funyun or a Dorito now and then - but it's not worth the risk.
Load More Replies...I think there is nothing worse than getting a soggy, already been licked chip. One of my Siamese did this whenever he could get away with it. He also would eat the edges of the cheese on any sandwich he could get his paws on!
That's what my Cat Biscuit did. Lick the salt off of the Pringles, then eat the entire thing.
Our cat, BBQ, got her name from eating BBQ chips right after a highway rescue. Priorities: be saved and eat anything found until safe.
I had the same remote… for my fire tv stick 4k but i got a new one now!
Successful Attempt By My Cat
I used to have a cat who insisted on his own little glass of ice water, which I found very odd. He would drink until the ice melted, then he was finished. Most animals don't like ice water, and for some it can be dangerous, but my Robert loved it.
I took in a stray that looks like this one does anyone know the breed??
omg!!! we have a cat who looks like that!! and the same glass!!!!!
Yes, Dexter Ate It All
Yes it is. He also likes corn and beans. He's a very special cat
Mine loved romaine lettuce and jalapenos. And coffee ice cream. But ONLY coffee. LOL!! After she died, it took awhile for me to enjoy those things again.
Load More Replies...I've had cats with strange taste, but never cauliflower! I had one mad for tomatoes, another loved cantaloupe, and even one who loved tangerines, but never cauliflower 😂
My boyfriend's mom cat is totally obsessed with olives :-)
Several years after my cat passed who loved coffee Häagen-Dazs, the ridiculous myth that cats can't taste sweet started infiltrating the internet, and I immediately knew to sweep it into the bin of disproven nonsense, right along with "cats are colorblind", "your cat doesn't love you", "your cat doesn't know its name", and "cats aren't more intelligent than dogs". Why do humans keep trying to tell such stupid lies about cats???
My cat Darkness preferred green peas over literally any other food. If I was cooking peas for dinner, I had to double the amount just as a matter of course. And woe to the person who wouldn't share!
Really Should Block That Serving Hatch Up
It's a serving hatch amirite? You didn't specify who was to be served. And greyhounds are front of the queue anyway
All dogs to the front, I think... and that piece is certainly large enough that a dog-sized portion wouldn't even be missed.
Load More Replies...Our neighbors' dog took a big steak off a plate that was meant for the grill. We had to laugh because we did turn our backs for a sec!

Even 19-Year-Old Senior Kitties Love To Lick The Spaghetti Bowl!
Note to all: Be careful with letting your cats lick spaghetti sauce - onions and garlic are both toxic to cats, and most spaghetti/marinara sauces have onion and/or garlic powder as flavoring. Because it is in a powderized form, it's even more potent than if your cat ate a piece of onion or garlic. (Though many spaghetti sauces also have whole pieces of garlic and onion in them, making it even more toxic.) Your cat likely will not die or get sick from a lick of the bowl now and then - but it's not worth the risk. I'm not trying to c**p on anyone or say OP is a bad pet owner, but it's knowledge I would like to share as it may not be well-known :)
And dogs as well. Too much garlic/onion can make them anemic.
Load More Replies...Especially 19 year olds! Our Bazzy lived to just a few months shy of 20. Even at the end, he wanted to lick the bowl and have his drop of half and half (milk was too thin, whipping cream too heavy, half and half was just right) in the morning. RIP Bazzy, you are so very missed!
Karma!
Please, please be careful with animals around snack bags. I read a story about a family's Golden retriever suffocating after being unable to remove the bag from it's face and the family found her too late to help. I cried.
Thanks for the tip. I never even considered that. And such an easy fix!
Load More Replies...Please cut open the buttom of your snack bags before putting them in the trash. 2 - 3 pets die from snack bag suffocation each week in the U.S.
Yes. Omg my dog Tess was found with a chip bag on her head. I had to put her down because she had brain damage due to lack of oxygen. I tell everyone I know. CUT YOUR BAGS.
Load More Replies...My dog Tess suffocated like this. I found her with a potato chip bag stuck on her head-she was still alive but had brain damage due to lack of oxygen and had to put to sleep. I cut every bag now with scissors
Haha my old black kitty plus a large unopened bag of cheetos, found her in the morning covered in the dust trying to clean herself up. The dust don't tell lies, kitten.
Our dog did this as a puppy and started it running around the house. It was all we could stop to stop laughing long enough to make sure she didn't run into something or suffocate.
Oliver. I’ve Never Had A Cat More Interested In Human Food
I was biting a biscuit the other day and my kitten bit the other end. Such a sneak!
Load More Replies...I had a tiny rescue kitten who would hang on the edge of the plate if you tried to remove it... she'd dangle in space, trying to cram as much food as possible into her tiny mouth, poor thing. Sometimes kittens who've been hungry for a long time become very determined little thieves.
My Cat Drinking From My “Angry Bird” Mug
I Can Haz Pizza?
Just like my Sexy Sadie., S ay where is my ice-cream for dessert. Costco vanilla please
Cats don't talk like that... Dogs do because they're big babies (lovable obvs) cats talk in a refined and proper accent using big words we don't understand.
Found Her Snacks In The Mail A Lot
My Siamese, Saki, loved dried sardines which I bought in a Chinese grocery store about 20 miles from home. I bought 2 large bags, and put them in a cabinet that I was sure she couldn't reach. The next morning I walked in the kitchen and found her laying on the counter, barely moving, surrounded by sardine heads and two empty bags. She was fine, just to full to move. I was not pleased, mainly because she proved that she could outsmart me.

Someone Couldn’t Wait For His Birthday Cake
We have one of those to make cakes for our dog. This makes me feel like I'm not so weird.
Load More Replies...He knows it's his... and he is always embarrassed by the singing anyway.
Milk Thief…every Time!!!
There is!!! Siggy knows he's not allowed...!!!
I had a cat and dog that would steal drinks of milk and eggnog if I wasn't paying attention.
It's the amount that matters. Most cats have absolutely no problem with a little bit of milk.

Adorable kitty! Take a magic eraser to that plate if you want to get the marks off, but of course it will be back after Utensils are used on it again lol. We used to have plates that did this too.
Which is why I did not let him eat them
Load More Replies...Drinking With Fish On The Side
My cat jumped on our fishtank and fell right in. He was more scared than the fish were.
My cat who is obsessed with water slipped and fell into the hot tub with me. Was not fun flinging a 22 lb panicked soaking wet cat out of it.
Load More Replies...I've seen a cartoon like this when the water in the fish tank is all murky, and one cat says to the other: I think we scared the s**t out of him
I had a cat who would just rest his chin on the top of the water and wait for the fish to swim by. At least until I caught him and put a grate over the top.
Nanny Begging Every Time Chicken Is On The Menu
That sweet face! Surely a tiny piece of chicken could *accidently* fall off your plate.
Oh yes, our Lucy meowed until she got chicken breast. I miss her so, now I have to eat the chicken breast myself.
Caught Red Handed!
I had one that would do this, and taught all her babies to do this, and then they'd leave little sticky footprints everywhere!. They were very partial to fruit juice.
CUTE sticky little prints for sure :)

Let Me See If I Can Find Some Salmon
We'd had our puppy for a week when she streaked in, grabbed a piece of steak off my plate and took it to her bed to wolf down. It took all of 2 seconds. My wife said it looked like a brown blur. I was so taken with her speed and skill I couldn't bring myself to discipline her. Luckily, she's outgrown that!

Water from their bowl will never be as good as yours. Until you leave the lid of the toilet up.
All 3 of ours will drink from my Husband's cup all day. We have 2 fountains and 3 bowls of water. They want HIS work cup
I had a cat once who would lick condensation off my glass. RIP Baby Girl aka Booboo😭

This Little Girl Saying “Are You Done Yet!? I Want To Lick The Bowl!”
Sneaky
Pandora The Teacup
My boy would've drank it. I do not allow him to drink alcohol and yet he still thinks he's entitled to it and tries to sneak some. Makes an extra effort to steal a lick of sake. But he's also a wierdo who steals pickles out of my hand when I'm eating it
Discovering Fizzy Drinks. Left Is Tj, Right Is Blanche
I got it at Tuesday Morning last Halloween. They are super cute!
Load More Replies...They did. They pretty much drink whatever i am drinking. Haha
Load More Replies...They drank it and same back for more. They do prefer flat water, though. I have to keep a cup for them on my nightstand for them to drink out of at night. I work for them now. Lol

In summer, I put a few ice cubes in the water bowl. The youngest cat is especially fascinated by them. Initially she tried licking them directly. Then she discovered the water around them is nice and cold, so now she just drinks around them, changing position as they move on top of the water. Tabitha is a strange and wonderful cat.
That’s Not My Martini, Hooman
But let me just do a short taste test. Mmmmmmm… Still not sure. Let me taste test it again. Mmmmmm…. Oh look! It’s gone. Damn.
I tried several times to upload mine, but it wouldn't do it. It was my Ava Piglet shoving her face in my frappe. I made the mistake of giving her a little taste of the whipped cream. It must have been delicious because she completely lost all sense of reason. I was trying to drive us home and laughing so hard I could barely see. I also have a blurry follow up of her sticking her tongue out with whipped cream on her nose. I love that naughty pig so dang much!
I grew up with a very spoiled, very naughty dachshund. The kitchen had a large opening to a buffet board in the den. Somebody pushed a chair too close to the buffet board. Mom left a big pot of sloppy joes spaghetti mix out in an open pot on the stove on slow simmer. We ran to the store for something for dinner, and we came back to find the spaghetti mix had cooked down to about half the level we left it. Then we noticed little orange dog paw prints all over the floor. The darn dog had put both front paws into the pot and feasted away until he heard us drive in. The dog noticed us noticing the paw prints and pot. He panicked and ran to hide. He was sure he would be spanked. He went to his bed to hide. We looked and his belly was swollen with the spaghetti sauce. He looked scared and sooo guilty. Mom & I just laughed it off, enjoying the irony of his invention. Mom said she had noticed other meals had cooked down like that before. Ewww... Mom just put the remaining spaghetti sauce in the freezer & doled it out to the sneaky dog for part of his dinner for the next week or so. The dog was amazed and grateful. Darn dog. We moved the chair, & Mom always put a lid on anything cooking after that. He would get into leftover beer also if someone left it out, obviously drawing on his German heritage. I miss that dog.
Oops! Lucy's favorite food a a puppy was banana pudding. Earlier this week, she ate an entire pound of cooked bacon her human intended for some recipe. Lucy just can't resist get on the dining room table.
