We all have something we wish we could say to out loved ones, but for some reason we can’t. But what if you did say it, and they took it well. Things might change. So say it here first, and then maybe you can say it to the person who needs to hear it.

It wouldn’t help now, but I wish I could’ve told my family how much all those jibes, jokes, and comments about my weight hurt at the time and still messed with my head as an adult. Little did I know, but the rest of my family was naturally very thin and I was just an average sized child. For most of the rest if my life I’ve felt self conscious and ugly because of my size - even when I was a runner and extremely thin. It is only now, when I’m truly overweight that I can look back and see how messed up my self image was. And yes, finally after marrying a wonderful person have I come to be just fine with my body.

I would tell my Mom that regardless of how bad the barium tastes, you have to drink it for your 5 year post breast cancer scan. Maybe the doctors could have seen the cancer had metastasized and done something. (The last 22 years of my life - as well as my daughters, my sister, my niece, and my father - would have been so different.)
