Electric cars were being used before gas cars in the 1830s.. In 1900 there were more than 33,00 electric cars. Then along came Henry Ford and his gas engine that excited oil barons.$$$$

I wouldn't have nearly as much anxiety over things such as water, food security and air quality. Even in my country, where the majority of power is coal, we would reduce our national carbon emissions by 60% just by switching to electric cars.

Areas that have resisted mass transportation - I'm looking at you, Texas! - would have get on board, fix their mess up electrical grid and strengthen their roads.
