I got 3 fish when I was 5 and one of them tried to kill the others so we traded all three back for three new ones that got along better. Surprisingly, the new ones lived for 5 years after that
My family had a dog already when i was born. Her name was Shilo and she was a husky-wolf dog. An absolute sweetheart, and i still remember her a little bit
I had a dog before but I don't really remember her. I would say my first pet was a cat we rescued in 2016 named Cari. She's super nice and loves attention though lately she's been confined to the 2nd story of our house because of a dog we adopted.
I got my first pet when I was 3 years old. They were 2 chicks that were named Dots and Blackie. I can't really recall their breed, but Dots was a dark yellow color with brownish dot markings all around her (hence the name). Blackie was (obviously) black all around. The chicks were transported in a green and brown box that looked like the ones you would get at Build-A-Bear. And since we didn't have a coop or anything, they lived in there and I would always ask my dad if I could take them out. Anyway, on the second day of owning them, I took the chicks out of their box because I wanted them to walk around my room. At first, it was pretty cute. But then, they started pooping on my very colorful puzzle piece mat. I loved that mat so much because it was a really pretty color, so I got really sad. If they pooped on any other surface, I really wouldn't care and I would probably think it was funny (my parents probably wouldn't). Luckily for me, my parents cleaned my mat and the poop wiped off easily. My mom really didn't know what to do with the chicks after that, so she just put them back in their box until further notice. Overnight, my dad returned them to wherever he got them and bought me a hamster in exchange for the chicks (surprisingly, the hamster lived for 7 years). When I got up in the morning, I was eager to play with the chicks again. My dad had to tell me about the bad news about the chicks. He told me that they returned to the farm and they were safe there with their mama hen. He told me that so I wouldn't get sad they got returned and I would just be happy for them. Surprisingly, it worked. Now as a person who owns 2 fully-fledged Ameraucana chickens, I still look back to this moment and I think about how funny it seems. My current chickens are named Opal and Elsa, if anyone was wondering.
