Yeah, hugging a pet (or a person) works for me too. It doesn't cure it but it makes it more manageable.

What do you mean? Is it possible to deal with stress instead of just ignoring it until one day (hopefully) it just disappears?

This is going to sound weird, but I wash my feet. Sometimes it evolves into a full on wash for my whole body, but usually just washing my feet helps.

When it's nice outside, a walk. When the weather is bad, inside and reading or drawing. Always music :)

I sit down with a frappe, get a book, and read. Sometimes I put on earphones and listen to light nature sounds.

Unfortunately, stress has been a regular part of my life for as long as I can remember. I even took a stress management class in order to help me deal with it, big waste of time.

Everyone’s stress is different. What might be very stressful for one person, might be a piece of cake for someone else. The same goes with how you handle stress, what works for one person may not work for another.

For me I use a few different things to deal with my stress.
    1. Put the ear buds in and crank some decent music.
    2. Spend money that I don’t have. Creates more stress though.
    3. Make a list of ways to solve the problem(s) that’s causing me the stress. Sometimes it’s situational so this wouldn’t apply.
    4. Put some volunteer time in at the local animal shelter. Love doing this.
    5. Snuggle with either my dogs or cats.
    6. Go for a drive with the windows down and music cranked.
    7. Bake cookies/cakes, make candies and sometimes create my own recipes.
    8. Deep clean the house
    9. Journal
    10. Read a book

Those aren’t listed in any particular order.
If all the above fails, smoke a doobie (it’s legal in my state)

I'll typically fire up the computer and play some games. What I play is all determined by my mood. I'll either build something (city builder type games like Timberborn( or Scrap Mechanic)), Explore a galaxy (No Man's Sky), or destroy something (Certain wargames or making pirates lives miserable (and short) in Avorion).

    A) take a shower and just let all of the stress melt away with the water
    B) scream into your pillow

There are some good breathing exercises out there. I find this one to be quite useful:
    Breathe in for six seconds,
    hold for six seconds,
    breathe out for six seconds,
    rest for six seconds,
    repeat.
That will physically lower your heart rate and give your mind something else to focus on. It works best when you catch the stress early.
