The Mandela effect got its name when Fiona Broome, a self-identified “paranormal consultant,” detailed how she remembered former South African President Nelson Mandela dying in the 1980s in prison (although Mandela lived until 2013).

Broome could describe remembering news coverage of his death and even a speech from his widow about his death. Yet none of it happened.

If Broome’s thoughts occurred in isolation, that would be one factor. However, Broome found that other people thought the exact same as her.

I distinctly remember eating a condiment called chip dip or chip sauce in the early 2000s. I used to have it on noodles. However according to many hours on Google, the good people at Heinz and Hellmann's, it doesn't exist and never has.

I don’t know about you but when I rewatch a movie sometimes I remember parts that aren’t actually in the movie.

that when i was young i went to a wedding in st. Louis Missouri and It was at the arch and it was cold and foggy and there were tiny bells all over the ground. there was an inside area that had a dance floor and me and the other kids were the first to dance on it. it was a small dance floor so when everyone else got up to dance there was not a lot of room. the wedding never happened and i was never at a place with a dance floor and the ground was never covered in small bells. i had never gone to the arch when I was younger. i was confused because i had seen my family there with me but they don't remember it at all. the memory was brought back to me when I got to go inside of the arch and I asked my family and it had never happened. it was weird because i later found a pic of the wedding but they still claimed it had never happened.

I used to have this really good cereal as a kid. The brand is still really vivid in my head, but google and my mom said it never existed. It was called honey horses and they were shaped like horses.🤔

Probably the most common ones, like C3PO's one silver leg, Curious George having a tail, etc. But there is this one lamp in my living room that has a twist nob to turn it on, and I swear to God every single time I use it, the nob twists a different way. I know it's not that interesting but I'm bored and kinda lonely lol I just need to say words

I swear I remember a Dennis the Menace comic in the paper with Mr. Wilson explaining to Dennis that Mrs. Wilson died.

There was even a shadow of Mrs. Wilson in the background indicating she was still there in spirit, but evidently this never happened & Mrs. Wilson is alive and well.

The whole Shazam thing from the 90's. Blew my mind when it wasn't real. C3PO's silver leg was an eye opener too. I've lost count how many times I've watched Star Wars and I thought he was all gold.

Mine would have to be the fact that Curious George never had a tail despite the fact that I vividly and distinctly remember him swinging from his tail

As a kid I remember watching a show called "paranormal world of mitch pileggi", I loved it. But I can't seem to find any proof of its existence. (And I had no idea who Mitch Pileggi" was, so couldn't have mistaken the name)

a little creepy to think about it as an adult but I remember talking to a friendly elderly guy from our neighbourhood. I can still see the colorful, fun patterned pants he always wore. When I told a story about something mentioning, my mom told me that we didn't have a neighbour like this. All young couples with small children, since it was a pretty new area we lived in. If talked to him at least 3 times a week.
