I was awoken in the wee small hours of the morning by a phone call.

Bleary I reached over and answered it. A pre-recorded voice said “Please wait while we connect you to an operator” in a very American voice (I am in Australia for context).

A moment later another American voice came on the line. “Thank you for calling Subway International, how may I direct your call?” WTF???? I explained that they had called me and that it was like 2am where I was.

After chatting for a couple of moments about the weirdness of the robo-callback, I laughed it off as one of those things and went to lay back in my bed.

But then I got a whiff of smoke in the air… I opened my front door and there was nothing on the breeze, so it wasn’t a burn off… so I decided to just check the rest of the house in case.

When I got to the back patio there was my house mate’s “Ciggie Bucket” that she put all her butts into.

It was on fire and flame was licking up the wooden patio post it was sat next to…. It had only just started.

I quickly hosed it down and soaked the ashes until I was sure it was out.

If that call hadn’t come through when it did… we could have lost everything and everyone in the house.

Not everything I have encountered is explicable by science, much as I have tried in most cases.

    .....

Best example involves me and my mother. I woke from a nightmare involving my late dad. Shook Hubby and demanded, "Is Dad dead?" b/c I was that afraid. A few hours later, phone rang. Mom said, "Don't interrupt, I have to tell you this nightmare". It was, down to the last detail, the exact thing I'd dreamt, except her POV in the situation, not mine. Where we stood relative to each other, etc. She then blurted, "I had to wake up and see if he's dead, so I shook his urn!"

..... Both at approximately 0330 AM.
.... Both saw same window, rug, placement of people in the space.
..... We lived 500 miles apart at the time.
.......We rarely if ever discuss(ed) my late dad.
..... We both felt terrified by him, and felt his rage in the nightmare, which was why we both woke up demanding to know if he was alive.

Coinciidence? Maybe. But that's one heck of a coincidence considering the place we were 'in' was not one either of us knew.

I was just driving away from a local train station in a taxi when I looked over my shoulder, out of the rear window. I saw myself getting into the next taxi. Wearing the same clothes, hairstyle and bags. The 'other me' looked up and smiled at me. Then we turned a corner and I couldn't see 'me' anymore. All the way home I watched out of the rear window for that taxi and stood outside my home for 15 minutes in case the 'other me' turned up but no one did. It is the single most unsettling thing I have ever been through.

Weird. Brings to mind every sci-fi story ever where they are secretly replacing the humans with either robots or aliens.

My brother (47y) passed away at home from congestive heart failure following two horrible surgeries. He and his wife had an argument a couple of days prior to his death and out of frustration, she threw her engagement ring/wedding band at him. She didn't know where they were after he passed and searched everywhere for them. She was distraught. I became very close to her, my niece (8y), and two nephews (13y and 3y) and spent nearly every evening there helping with homework, house work, etc. I was watching the kids by myself one evening and while waiting for my niece to get out of the shower off of the master bedroom, I looked to the heavens and asked my brother, "Where did you put her rings?" Without hesitation, I walked over to the end table next to the bed, put my hand into the remote caddy (holds remote controls/eyeglasses/etc.). Guess what I found? When my SiL returned home, I told her the story and handed them to her. She began crying and asked where I found them. When I told her, she lost all of her coloring. She said that she dumped that caddy out a number of times, but they weren't in there. I believe her. She isn't a liar.

I was at the Nathaniel Hawthorne house with my college Comp 101 class while I was a student. We were in a room that they do not normally tour through, all the furniture was covered in sheets. There were two doors (both closed), a couple of windows (all closed), and no floor vents. The entire time we were in the room (5-10 minutes), the bottom of a sheet on one of the chairs was lifted up into the air as if someone had the foot rest of a reclining seat up, except this chair was not a reclining seat. It went back down when the guide opened the door as we were leaving and I asked her about it. She told me she wasn't surprised, lots of her regular tours feel like they have more people apart of them then there actually is.

While I believe in a lot of things that can't be explained - at this point in time - I don't there's any call to denigrate scientists by your use of quotation marks. Many theories are proven right, the scientific world uses the word 'theory' in a different sense than many people understand, and it would take a course in the history of science to enumerate the theories that are now accepted fact. Any psychology is not a pseudoscience. Do some research in reputable science publications. I feel sorry that your mind is so closed.

My grandmother on my dad's side (they all lived in Ecuador, I live in the US) passed away when I was 1 or 2. Just before she was buried, my mom says that she was changing my diaper and I just randomly sat up and waved at the wall. There was literally no one there. I had just waved at nothing. But my mom thinks that I was waving goodbye to my Abuela and honestly, I think so too. I remember when I was 4 or 5 I was scared of the dark. At some point, I started getting that feeling of being watched, but not creepy. It was more comforting than anything. I don't know why, but I knew it was my Abuela. I never got to know her well, but I haven't really felt her with me since my great-grandma, her mom, passed. That was really sad because I was more familiar with her, despite not speaking the same language. Now I like to think they're off together, chilling in whatever afterlife there is. Sorry for the long reading.

When I was very young I used to talk to the woman who lived in the fireplace. It was an old house in a country town and the former resident had died in the house years before (I didn't know that until i was in my 20's). My parents were sure it was an 'imaginary friend' but I would spend hours talking to her about all sorts of things. Noone else ever mentioned seeing anything but I am convinced to this day that it was an entity.

I think most "imaginary friends" are really spirits/ghosts. ... So, why did she live in the fireplace?

My sister and her family moved into my grandparents house when my niece was 5 or 6, my grandpa had just passed. My niece's bedroom was in the same room where my grandmother had died, about 15 years earlier. We never had a bunch of pictures hanging around so my niece had never seen a picture of my grandmother. One day she comes running out of the room saying that there was a lady there acting like she was making a bed. She described my grandmother perfectly and that was what she was doing when she died, making her bed!

It happened many years ago, I lived with my mom and older brother, they had gone to a one day vacation to visit relatives on the countryside, so I was to spend the night alone at home. I decided to sleep in my mother's bedroom because she had a bigger bed and a big screen where I could watch a movie or something. I end up falling sleep and woke up in the middle of the night to the distinct sensation of a hand grabbing my wrist, I immediately though someone had broken into the house and I kept my eyes closed, pretending I was still asleep... but then I heard this little, girly, childish voice speaking to me, I couldn't really understand and started thinking "ok, it's just a dream" and the voice went "it's true!", she then started singing a song, like some lullaby and my whole body froze, I was in a state of total shock. The voice said something else that I couldn't understand and slowly fade away as the sensation of cold and the hand in my wrist. I couldn't move for what felt like forever, covering my head with a blanket. When my mother came home I told her what happened, she was a medium and was able to guide whatever it was alway from us. I live in a very old house an have experienced other paranormal stuff but to this day that's the one that scared me the most.

WE SAW A PERSON WHO WAS NOT THERE
    (I promise I’m still not a nut job – lol )
    .
I have a second experience to relate. This one I’ll keep shorter. (lol – well I tried to anyway)
    .
We were camping / innertubing on a local river. Late afternoon my friend and I decided to make one more run before dark. His little brother and our adult chaperone stayed ashore. They were to meet us downstream to drive us back up to camp.
    .
We misjudged the required time. River slow, mountains and tall evergreens on each side – meant the sun went down (for us) a long before we got to the pickup point. It was snow melt water and cold anyway but usually the sun makes up for that. We got really, really cold to the point we knew if we fell off in one of the deeper sections we would not be able to swim. We decided to get out and walk to the road because on the road without a ride was better than in the river drowning.
    .
Closest bank to get ashore was actually a gravel bar in the river (an “island” if you will) so we walked along that looking for a shallow area to cross. About the time we found such an area we also spotted the brother / adult waiting for us on the main shore. They had come upstream to look for us. We proceeded to cross in knee deep water, mostly staring down because the moss covered rocks were slippery.
    .
So cue the weird part. I look over at the little brother / adult and there is a third person standing between them. It is getting dusk at this point and we are just glad to be getting out. I wondered who it was but said nothing, concentrating on the mossy rocks. Then my friend says, “Who is that with them?” “I don’t know” said I.
    .
We get into the van, they blast the heater. My hands were so numb I needed help getting my life jacket off. We start to warm up and then we remember the other person. “Oh yeah, who was that with you guys?” Blank looks. We explain. They said at no time was their anyone on the bank with them. And where they were standing, a person would have had to crunch over a bunch of gravel to stand near them. Not a prank, they were honestly confused by WTH were we talking about. If my friend had not seen it and commented without any input from me I may have decided I imagined it.
    .
And if you want to a creepy side plot to add, the reason they came upstream and waited at a different spot than we agreed on is because they found out in between the two places was a bad snag tree from winter storms. The previous week a girl got tangled up in the roots underwater and drowned and they were advising people to avoid that section.
    .
I am comfortable there was not a third human being on the bank with them. Beyond that I have no idea other than my friend and I both saw SOMETHING. Ghost, guardian angel, bored alien hopping dimensions – you decide. It was early 70s so I kind of forget about it except for a thread like this one.

I’m not superstitious and there’s pretty much a rational explanation for such things but I had a weird experience at my dad’s funeral. I had to read the eulogy so I wrote a secular piece with a few jokes to balance up the religious doom and misery. The morning of the funeral, the house was in disarray so, in order to get my head together and practice my reading, I drove over to what had been my grandparents’ house. The house was where my dad was born and had grown up but had been kept as a storage place after my grandparents died. It dates from the 1920s and hadn’t had much modernisation - it still had blackout blinds from WW2 on the windows! Anyway I arrived and went into the sitting room to practice (switching on the light as it was a dark January morning). It was freezing cold and the thought came over me that everyone who’d lived in the house was now dead. I said out loud “Well, I hope that wherever you all are, it’s a bit warmer than here!”. At that moment the light went out and no amount of fiddling with the switch would bring them back on. I left, did the reading at the funeral and, the next day, told my wife about it. She suggested we go back to the house so we did and the light worked perfectly. Spiritual experience or dodgy 1920s wiring? You decide 🙂

Supernatural but I'm going to tell it anyway. I've had 3 experiences. And I wish I more

1.) I was praying hard about something. I don't even remember what it was about now ( it's been about 30 years ago) I just remember my prayer was fervent, I had a sense of calm come over me. It started at my toes and slowly came up my body and out of my head. I slept like a baby.
2.) I was out late at night, too late. I dropped my cigarette ( I was a stupid teenager) and bent down to get it. Something jerked my steering wheel and I avoided side-swiping a parked car.
3.) I was having trouble with boils or carbuncles coming up on the right side of my neck just below the hairline. I just happened to be reading a paperback book about angels, picked it up for a dollar at the thrift store. Somewhere from on high, I had a tingling started at my shoulder down to my fingertips. For some reason, I put my fingers on the boil. It went away immediately and I have never had another one. If that was healing by the laying on of hands I regret not putting my hand on my husband's knees. They're both shot.

I swear these things are true.

Well I’m not really sure if other people get this but here we go!

Sometimes I hear my mum (still very much alive make no mistake - I live with both my parents still) calling my name, and when I go to her and say like “yeah” or “what” or something she’ll be really confused and say she didn’t call me? Idk if this is ordinary or not just something I think is quite abnormal.

Also when my dad was a kid a perfect slice of white bread fell from the sky right next to him. It was a perfectly sunny day and there were no birds in the sky. 🍞

I can relate to hearing a voice calling your name. Happened to me when I was still living with my parents. I guess it's just a form of pattern-searching by your brain when not actively listening to sound, if you understand, what I mean. Humans tend to find patterns in everything, and sometimes, our brain tries to make sense out of things that are random.

I work in retail. A superstore actually and the place is huge. We have had a few deaths in store and at the petrol station too. There was a period of time when every time I saw my friend at work and I had just finished we'd stop to talk for a bit and catch up. And if we were in the yoghurt isle then at random a Yoghurt would fly off the shelf and go over the floor in the middle of the isle and we have very wide isles. We searched the entire isle but found nothing that could have done it. No extra cameras, no string, no spring, nothing electronic and there certainly wasn't a whole person there because we would have 100% seen them. That happened quite a few times and always in the exact same scenario. When I had finished my shift and saw my friend working in the Yoghurt isle and we'd talk. Just a random yoghurt would fly off the shelf. Also a few times I heard breathing in my room but couldn't find anyone else or anything else with me

All the time! All my family have various psychic gifts, but I was the only one who trained (English style - as in Spiritualists' National Union). I am a Spiritualist medium and healer. I demonstrate clairvoyance in Spiritualist centres, passing on messages from those no longer incarnate (family, friends, advanced teachers). I have taught mediumship in a private circle. I don't get paid - that's not why I do it. I have encountered earthbound spirits from time to time, and tred to help them move on. Sometimes they are not aware that they have died so they are confused, and need help. Death is nothing to fear - nor those who have passed. We who are still on the Earth Plane grieve. It is true that there are those discarnate spirits who like to cause fear. if this is the case for you, I urge anyone to protect yourselves by surrounding yourselves and your homes with white light. Imagine a white light expanding outwards, pushing all negativity away, and then gently shining throughout. Ask for help from the Light, and it will be given. The Source loves you just as you are, but yearns for you to progress spiritually - so help is at hand always. Arohanui.

    A few things:

When I was around 11 years old, my brother and I were eating popsicles. I was eating mine on the living room floor, and he was eating his on the back porch steps. No one else at home, apart from my mom, who was having a nap.
All of a sudden, I feel two hard taps on my shoulder. I spun around really quick, but no one was there. I then ran to the back of the house to see if my brother was trying to scare me. He was still sitting outside minding his business. He couldn't have tapped my shoulder because the screen door made a loud creaking noise.

When I was around 14, I was home alone playing on our computer. I hear loud stomping steps that start from the doorway of my mom and step dad's bedroom and stop right above my head. I was terrified.
I ran to my bedroom (which was downstairs) and hid under my covers. I eventually got the courage to check the house - no one was there.

Also, my dad's house definitely had something weird going on. The rocking chair would randomly rock, small things would go missing, and then appear a week later in the middle of the kitchen floor. My dad and I both saw a man/person walk past us out of the corner of our eyes, at separate times. They were never scared at the house. They just used to say they had a ghost.

Other things have happened to my parents as well, right after my great grandma died, but this post is probably long enough.

There are some things that I - a scientist - can't explain up to this day. There might be a scientific explanation after all, but I haven't found it yet.

1.) When I was 16, I saw what I would call a ball lightning. It appeared over a stream close to the mountains in summer, a small but very fast ball of light. Disappeared as fast as it was there. A friend of mine who was with me saw it too.

2.) Maybe around the same age, I once came home from a dancing class in the early evening, when I saw a big, round globe of light slowly disappear behind some trees in the valley in front of me. I was on top of a hill and the ball appeared to be the same size as the moon seen from earth. I asked my father if it could have been something of military origin, he said no. Weather balloons are also not common in the area. I asked my physics teacher and he also didn't know what it could have been. Truly an UFO - unidentified flying object.

3.) The night my grandmother died, my bottom-hung window opened by itself. Also, one of the two plants my grandparents gave me for my birthday years ago died within the next days. Both probably coincidence.

4.) Very recently, both grandfathers of my Turkish husband died and we rushed to the funeral, which in islam has to take place within 48 hours. His family is not very religious, but superstitious. I, up to that day, did not really know about things they believe around death of a loved one.
One of the believes apparently is, that the soul of the deceased stays in his home for 40 additional days and shows itself somehow during various occasions. On the funeral day, I stayed in the house, watching the kids of the family while the adults went to the cemetery. During that time, I went to the toilet twice, flushing of course (duh). The second time, I saw that the water inside the toilet was yellow, as if somebody did not flush. However, non of the kids have used the bathroom in that time. I later told this jokingly to my husband, who immediately translated it to his family. They all stared and my husbands grandma said, that her deceased husband used to forget to flush. So, according to them, he showed himself to me through this "incidence".

5.) The next night, this grandfather appeared in my dream. I barely knew him and he has never talked to me before. I casually mentioned at breakfast, that I saw him in my dreams, and everybody was instantly happy and congratulating me. Apparently, it means good luck if a deceased appears in your dreams. Not paranormal maybe, but I liked that thought.

6.) My toddler son who turns 2 this summer likes to hug a photo of my grandfather that usually sits on the shelf in the livingroom. My grandfather has died earlier this year. I don't believe my son remembers him or even understands that his great-grandfather has passed, but whenever he has his picture, he points at him and says something along the line of "great-grandfather hurt", and wants me to sing his favorite soothing-song to the picture...

(Sorry for mistakes, english is not my native language, obviously)

Once I was in a hotel sitting in bed watching TV able to see the bathroom shower curtain from the corner of my eye. I heard a noise in the bathroom and looked over to see the curtain moving and shaking. The was no open windows, fans or air conditioners running. I told a co worker about it the next day and he told me there was a local legend that the hotel was haunted. I looked in up and he was right. The Hilton hotel in downtown Cincinnati. Up until that point, I absolutely did not believe in the paranormal.

When I was 8, I had this Paranormal/just plain wrong night. I had an imaginary friend, whom I called 'Jack'. Jack was a figure I drew often to have long limbs and black skin. But some of the drawing I would draw him deformed from his normal state. Anyways, I had this friend who's dad was divorced, but I often went to visit her at her mom's house. One night a few hours after going to see my friend, I was sleeping in bed, thinking it would be just a normal night. I woke up around 11:00, to a strange, rhythmic beat going 'Tap. Tap. Tap.' It was floating around my window, and, being a Naive kid, I stood up to go and peer out of the windows. But once I had opened it, I had seen Jack there, tapping long, gross looking fingernails along the glass. He was tilting his head back and forward, like he recognized me. I was no kid who ACTUALLY thought the imaginary friend was real. I thought with logic first, then my imagination. I knew the first thing was that I was in danger, but my curiosity got a grip on me and I opened the window to see more clearly. That was a huge mistake, that would scar my life. The person climbed into my room, and or a few seconds just stood there, staring at me. For a split second I felt the need to run, but I just stood there. Then the figure proceeded to strip me of my clothing, and m*lest me! After around 20 minutes I got the courage to push my way out and run to my mother, and surprisingly the man followed anyway! My father woke up and tackled the man down while I sobbed to my mother that 'The man was hurting my tummy'. We had him there when the police got to our house, and when this person's identity was revealed, it was my friends father!!! The creepiest part about this is that he had known where I lived, where my window was, and who I was in the first place.

several time in my life, some of which have saved my life. but, the one that stands out the most occurred on feb 14, 1997. some may not consider it paranormal but it was far from being 'normal'. i had taken the day off to go to the doctor due to what i thought was the flu. i was driving back from the dr's office when i had a sudden flash of blinding pain in my face. i slammed on the brakes because i couldn't see straight. thankfully, the car behind me just stopped as well. for some reason i noticed the time on the clock in the car. i was kind of light headed after that so i drove home slowly. when i got there the phone was ringing. it was the police department asking if i had a son named [blank blank]. i said yes and then was told he had been in an accident and was being transported to the local hospital. by that time, the dizziness was gone and off went. my son had totaled his small truck by hitting a tree due to a gravel road. his face broke the steering wheel. after i left the hospital i went to where the truck had been towed. while getting his personal items i noticed two things: the engine block was through the fire wall and on the seat which would have been between him and his friend who was the passenger. the other thing was the clock which had stopped on impact. it was stopped at the exact time that i had experienced that blinding pain.

    I have a few.
When I was 8 I was walking down a hallway in my house. I got a chest pain and fell over. As I fell over I saw in my head a linoleum floor and felt as I fell as if I landed on an only fashioned water heater. I picked my self up and went into the kitchen to tell my mother that her dad had died. I don’t remember doing this. She didn’t believe me but sent me to school. I was upset all day and came home to find her brother and his wife crying in the house.
The other is I live in an old stables. It’s had a few lives this place, going from a a stable originally owned by a milk company it has also been apparently an illegal gambling casino, a flop house where they rented a bed out in each of the stalls to a very rough brothel. Out of the corner of my eye over the years I keep seeing a lady or is it a man in a red dress with heavy make up and a big blond wig. She/they have big chunky red velvet shoes on with diamantés across the toe. I have been waved at by her. There is a jockey sized man who tips his hat to something I can’t see. If I do the dishes downstairs when I’m at the sink I can feel a horse nudging me in the back as it wants food. That’s the most regular one. I’ve lived in this place for 30 years and I’m not worried by them. No one else feels or sees them. May be I’m touched with . . .

I worked at a Record store back in the 80s. The small store was closing soon and I was the only person working. I then got a random thought about the music that was used on the then most recent (Mel Gibson) version of Mutiny on the Bounty. I knew that there was no soundtrack released at that time because I also managed inventory for the store. A few minutes later, a lone person showed up and asked me if we had the soundtrack for Mutiny on the Bounty, the one I was just thinking about.

Used to work ca 1984 renovating a castle in Ayrshire, Scotland into a new hotel. National Trust for Scotland came one day and said some of the foundations dated back to 13th century. We stayed in the castle when we worked there, about 6 of us on one floor. One night about, we heard a massive bang, it came from the kitchens, which used to be stables down on the ground floor. Went to inspect and the double doors which were padlocked and bolted were wide open, padlock (which was huge )and bolt were sheared in half. No storms, lightning, middle of summer. One of us experienced stuck furniture in a room, couldn't move the chairs or tables. Great place for a party though.

OLD HOUSE ON OUR FARM WAS HAUNTED.
(Hear me out, I promise I’m not a “looney” lol)
I believe I mentioned some of this before in comments but here it is as a post.
Background: Our family farm – Washington state. 160 acres. The 80 on the south side of the road had two houses, separated by some woods and about ¼ mile distance. We lived in the ‘main’ house by the dairy barn. The other house used to belong to a relative many years before. It was a rental and later my grandmother lived in it for a few years when she need to be closer. The house is a small square white two story. Downstairs, 2 bedroom, kitchen, living room. Upstairs 2 bedroom. House sits in the middle of a field, far back from the road or any other houses. Also, I am a skeptic who seeks out logical answers for things. Not sure year made but front door had a skeleton key lock. I just never found one in this case. ..
    .
Over the years, various people who lived in that house told us of the same strange occurrences. Mostly sound. 1. The sound of someone making dinner in the kichen. 2. The sound of someone reading a newspaper in the living room. (like turning the pages). 3. The sound of voices in the front bedroom. Like a conversation you could almost overhear but not quite. A couple of other isolated things but those three came up repeatedly.
    .
Tenants did not know each other. We did not tell tenants (didn’t want to sound crazy). Tenants came to us with this information. Only one tenant moved out in fear (or at least only one told us). I heard the voices myself once in the early 70s. My best friends of over 50 years rented there for a while and heard them. Husband was working nights, told wife she was imagining it / dreaming. Second night after he switches to day shift, he wakes her up in the night telling her there is someone in the house. She tells him it is just the ghosts – go back to sleep. After investigating / hearing it several nights he apologized for telling her it was in her head.
    .
Bought my current house 20 years ago. Was getting to know neighbor in front. She starts asking about where our farm is. Turns out it was her niece who moved out in fear of the ghosts. AFAIK there were no horrible murders or other weird stuff in that house the way you see in horror movies. Just an old house. And the noises are of people living their lives, not wailing “GET OUT” as they suck you into the walls.
    .
We sold the farm a few years after my mother died. It’s not too far from where I live and I drive by once in a while. I have been tempted to ask the people living there now about the noises but 1. I don’t know them and 2. I reckon I’d sound like a nutter.

My husband of 25 years passed away a few years ago. His daughter and I came back to my home after leaving the funeral home to make the arrangements, and a red dragonfly landed on my shoulder after I got out of my car. I love dragonflies but have never seen a red one. Red was my husband's favorite color, and he knew I loved dragonflies. It wouldn't leave my shoulder, ever though I tried to gently shoo it away before going inside. His daughter managed to get it onto her hand, but then it wouldn't leave. I reached toward her, and it flew onto my hand. It still wouldn't leave, so I took it to a nearby azalea bush and put my hand next to a branch and told it that it needed to go, since it would die if it got stuck inside. I don't usually talk to insects, but it then flew away. The whole thing probably lasted about 5 minutes. We were convinced it was my husband saying goodbye.

I worked in a petrol station for many years that most of us knew was haunted (it was a tudor house until it was demolished to make way for the petrol station. Nearly 250 years old) and most of us knew not to make fun of spirits and believers. One story that happened to me personally: We only had a small stockroom that was about 8 -10 feet tall approximately, so we had shelving from about 6 foot and over. I had to get a box of crisps down from a shelf about 7 foot off the ground (obviously had a ladder attached to the shelving units) put the crisps out and went to return the box but heard a customer (our front door was locked and shuttered and the shutter was also locked, the back door was a fire door that set off an alarm so I knew nobody else was inside) so went out the front of the store, dealt with the customer and thought I'd get the box back up onto the shelf.... went out to the stockroom and the box was back up on the shelf and I know I hadn't done it, nobody else inside.
Second story happened to a couple of co workers (they were Muslim I think, but their religion is not that important except they weren't permitted to believe in ghosts, you went to paradise and that was all). Anyway, they started talking about the ghosts and how it was in my mind that I'd heard people talking and my name called very clearly, your basic ghost tales, then they said " if there is a ghost, do something to us now". Nothing happened, I went home, and about 40 minutes after I got home I had a phone call - ALL the electrical equipment just stopped working about 5 mins after I left and there was no reason for it - all fuses were fine, just nothing worked so they asked me to come back. I did (for double pay!) and as soon as I came in the front door, everything started up. They then told me to go home again, I went out and it all stopped. I told them to just apologise for making rude comments to me and the ghosts so they did, the electrics came on, but I had to spend the night there as they were too scared!

A little over 30 years ago, I worked for a fairly large chain of stores. When the closing shift was preparing to shut down, they would setup the coffee pot so the morning manager would just have to flip the switch. One morning it was my turn to open, it was late autumn and it was very dark so I was really hoofing it after turning off the alarm to get to the back of the store to turn on the light over the office and turn on the coffee. After turning on the coffee and light, I went to the front of the store (where the office was located) to get the paperwork done. That chore was a nightmare to try and balance and nearly an hour later I finally finished. I could smell the coffee and headed to the break room for a cup so I could then do the floor before opening. I walked thru the large swinging doors into the break room and sitting on the big table was a fresh, very hot, cup of coffee waiting for me. I nearly died. I knew I was the only person in the store and I damn sure couldn't have poured my own coffee. I was shaking when I poured another cup of coffee (I wasn't drinking coffee I didn't pour!) and RAN around the store with the floor machine (the big thing with the brushes in front and squeegee in the rear) then stood outside chain smoking until the first employee came in. I didn't stay there very long after that.

Several times. Here's one: My first wife and I always threw massive Hallowe'en parties. It was getting late and someone told us a story of a haunted bridge and cemetery nearby. About a 15mins drive. This is in between Ann Arbor and Detroit, Michigan USA. We chose the cemetery. Story went, if you drove at a certain speed on the road thru the graveyard, you would hear banging on the roof of your car. Supposed to be a little boy who got hit by a car. The banging is him begging you to slow down. Important side note: At this period, I was really into smiley faces. So, 2 cars. We're in the 2nd. Our driver didn't want to risk speeding as, in Michigan in October, it's snowy. She didn't want to wreck her car. Of course, I'm bummed but I understand. I'm sitting on the driver's side in the back, my wife in the middle and person x on the passenger side, person y in the front passenger seat. We see our friends go over into a ditch. As we pull close to them to see if they were okay, everyone is getting out. I go to get out and I see on the OUTSIDE of the car on the window I see a smiley face DRAWN on the window! It was all squiggly looking as if a child had drawn it! I'm trying to show my wife as she trying to hurry me out the car. She sees it and realizes why I wasn't getting out. That was just freaky.

You are weary, stale, flat and unprofitable. You are grimy, squalid, nasty and profane. You are foul and disgusting. You're a fool, an ignoramus. Monkeys look down on you. Even sheep won't have sex with you. You are unreservedly pathetic, starved for attention, and lost in a land that reality forgot.

I constantly hear children playing, laughing, running around. I it started at my parents house as a teenager. When I married I would hear it in our first home, then it followed me to my current home. This home and yard are much larger than the other two homes, so hear more children playing. I actually like it and find it comforting. Occasionally I hear what sounds like a party for adults as well, they're a little more rowdy than the kids. I also constantly hear a radio playing music from the 1960s. I told my mother, she laughed and said the she thought I could hear them too!? What!? Too!? When she was younger she would read peoples palms and do other stuff too. She didn't want anyone to know because the last persons palm she read was her best friends. She told her she would die a tragic, painful death. She was dead a week later, her husband stabbed her to death, slowly. It was gut-wrenching! She was mortified. She never read palms again, she was too scared. Frankly, I don't blame her!

My mom used to say she "just knew" if something was going to happen. I inherited a little of that. Once I was about 3 months into a warehouse job at a t-shirt place. They were completely disorganized, no systems at all, and organizing is my meat. I set them up as best as I could and was about to make a little handy reference guide for the different shirts when I suddenly thought "oh, I don't have to do that, I won't be here much longer." Stopped dead in my tracks suddenly wondering how I "just knew" that. About a month later they let me go.

Once I was hanging out with some friends in my room, and someone banged against the door. I checked, no one was there. It happened again, and no one was there. This continued for 10 - 20 minutes, but no one was ever there. The only people in the house were me, my 2 friends, and my dad. My dad was in a zoom meeting, and me and both of my friends were in the room the whole time.

I grew up in a large pub which my parents ran. The pub was probably built in the 1970s and, as far as I know, wasn't sited on an old Indian burial ground. We lived upstairs in a three-bedroom flat with each room coming off the central corridor. Family would come over to stay and all seemed well. Except, as a young boy of 7 years old, I frequently suffered from night terrors and, as my parents both worked every night in the pub, I was alone upstairs with a terrible, ominous feeling of absolute dread.

I wasn't sleeping well and sometimes I was so tired that I would just crash and sleep for a day. My mum and dad acknowledged this and two gorgeous Labrador puppies joined our small family to help with my anxiety. I felt safer with them around but the sense of impending doom remained.

One day, the feeling of doom ramped right up to previously unknown levels, and I had the distinct feeling that something had altered - no, I can't really describe it. It maybe felt a bit like when you think you have woken up from a bad dream, but then, more bad stuff happens and you realise that you're still in the dream. It felt like hours, but after a while it passed.

After a few years, my parents decided that we would leave the pub. I was relieved, to say the least. The night terrors stopped, the anxiety stopped, and the sense of impending doom receded. I got on with my life.

Then, one summer, my aunt came to visit us with my grandma. We enjoyed a nice meal and a few drinks. I was a young adult by then and enjoyed the stories and laughs. At that point, talk turned to the pub. My mum confessed that she had sensed something sinister there too. Not only that, but one evening, after closing up, a huge and heavy glass ashtray had shot off the bar and shattered in the middle of the room with nobody within ten feet of it. On another occasion, she had been propelled forward by an unseen or unheard force. She never drank when she worked and the shove resulted in a 6cm gash on her arm. The coupe-de-grace for my mother though, came when she was relaxing upstairs. She witnessed a tall man, she thought, but there was no face, only a void where it should have been. He was dressed in a tall black hat and a long black cloak. He walked the length of the corridor before disappearing through a wall.

Next up was my Grandma. One morning she challenged my Grandpa about his nocturnal wanderings. He asserted that he had done nothing but go to sleep at night and wake the next morning. He had never left his bed. My Grandma was adamant that a shadowy figure had been looking out of the window in the night, before leaving the room and proceeding down the corridor. The very same corridor in which my mum witnessed an almost identical phenomenon.

Staying in the same room, my aunt thought we were being burgled when she woke in the dead of night to see a figure walk from the window, and out into the corridor before vanishing completely.

The same corridor. The same figure. Different people. Different years. Almost everyone who visited reported an oppressive atmosphere in the flat at one time or another.

The dogs had a few strange moments too. On one occasion, Scamp went missing for a while. We turned the flat and pub upside down and couldn't find him. We called him and offered him all of his favourite things but got no response. Eventually, on a third or fourth sweep of the place, he was found cowering in a corner facing the wall. He wouldn't budge, so my dad had to physically drag him out, and when he did, the dog was almost trance-like. He came round and was fine but it was SO weird.

Everyone had agreed to keep it quiet so that 7 y.o. me wouldn't be afraid. There were other happenings too but I've run out of room! All true, lived experience.

Great story! Great writing as well! Sorry you had to live through that. Oh, how I wish adults wouldn't "keep things quiet" to avoid kids being afraid! That just makes them even more afraid because now, on top of the terror of seeing these things, they feel alone with it. And not just hauntings. I think many adults don't tell kids about sticky things because in reality they don't want to deal with it. It's sick. Just talk to them about it and let them know it's okay, they're not crazy and not alone.

I lived in a haunted house many years ago. Lights that I turned off before bed would be on in the morning, bedroom doors open when I left them closed... lots of stuff like that. I woke in the middle of the night to a strange clinking sound. Went to investigate, and found my sugar canister (the kind with the metal latch on the lid) open in the middle of my kitchen counter. The clinking was the sound of that latch being jiggled over and over. I lived alone. I saw orbs travel through the living room, and so did 3 friends who were there. Didn't get much sleep, 1/10, would not recommend.

I, to, have experienced this kind of phenomenon -lamps that turn on by themselves, even when unplugged! Orbs and specters I've captured by camera-and my children have told me of things they have seen as teens and adults in our house that I never mentioned seeing in our house because I didn't want to spook them! For fun, I visited a psychic once, and she told me that there was an open portal in my house (I lived with my parents at that time) and I was skeptical, and told my mom, who blanched and then told me that my bedroom, which had also been my sisters bedroom before me, and before them, was the "game room", my eldest sister had held a séance for fun with her friends, as a joke, but that things had happened during the séance that scared them all. No one thought more of the incident, but my other sisters experienced stuff they didn't want to talk about. Again, it's the spooky of siblings. Then I moved into the room and there was weird but not horror film stuff happening.

Every. Single. Night. For the past month a phone has rung under my bed and every time I check there's nothing there and there's this strange smell of smoke around my room. I am so confused about what it is, I know it isn't my family's phone because they are on the other side of the house.

One night I got woken up by the phone again and started crying my eyes out, I was terrified, it was 3 am so that made it worse and the smell of smoke was so strong It almost suffocated me, I had to sleep in the living room for a week.

When my daughter was 2 years old, we were staying with my mother-in-law. Her husband Bob had passed many years before. One day, I heard my daughter wake from her nap, and she was talking and laughing. I went into her room to get her out of her crib, and asked her who she was talking to. She said, "Grandpa Bob." I thought that was cool. :)

A few days later (still at Grandma's house), I was changing my daughter's diaper and she said, "I don't like her."
    "Who?" I asked.
"Her!" (Points up at ceiling) "I don't like her. She's angry."

I didn't think that was cool. Told whoever it was that we only allow goodness and light in the home. I hope it helped.

My grandmother (my father's mother) and I had a psychic connection of sorts. Specifically, when she had need of emergency medical intervention, I seemed to be be her "telephone". I often awakened before anyone in our house when she called my parents for help because she felt sick. (she had diabetes, cirrhosis of the liver), and she was an immigrant who didn't speak English very well.
Two examples of our connection are as follows:
When I was in 8th grade, while at school, I suddenly felt dizzy, and I was having trouble breathing. My head and chest felt like I had been kicked or hit hard. My teacher sent me to the school nurse, who tried to call my mother, with no luck, so they called my father to come get me. He brought me home hoping my mom had merely been out, but my mom was not at home. (this was long before cellphones). My dad called his office to say he had to stay with me, and his secretary gave him a message that my mom had brought his mother to the ER because she had fallen. He called the hospital and my mom said grandma had fallen down some stairs and had a concussion and several broken ribs.
Another example was on my 18th birthday, and despite having a wonderful birthday, I suddenly felt extremely depressed later that night, as in I wanted to die kind of depressed, and I had no reason to feel this way. My parents didn't know what to do for me as I wasn't suicidal, I just felt like I needed to die. My mom sat with me trying to comfort me until about 2:30 am when I finally felt relieved of this feeling and just wanted to sleep. At 8 am, the nursing home called to tell my parents that my grandmother had died during the night, around 2:30 am.

My mum was taken to the hospital in an ambulance with one of my older sisters riding along. I got to the emergency room and the two of us were sitting with her in a ER room. I had turned my phone off when I got to the hospital because I was told it can mess with equipment in the emergency rooms.
My mom was engaged in a very deep conversation, which my sister and I couldn't understand a word of. She finally fell silent and watched as something very incredible walked around the room, the bed. It was both the most beautiful and testifying thing Ive ever seen. She toke her last breath and passed away.
My family consists of three girls, two of us being at my mothers side at the time. I immediately reached in my bag for my phone, I needed to call my other sister to tell her about our mother. When I hit the power button on my phone (to turn it on) I immediately heard the voice of my sister on the line. It was surprising to say the least! "I was just about to call you" I said. She replyed, that she and her daughter where standing in an airport boarding line in Texas about to get on a plane, when they saw Mom walk by. She had turned and waved at them". It was then that I told her that we where in a hospital in Illinois and that our mother had just passed away.

I'm so sorry you lost your mom. Thank you for sharing your story though. It's beautiful. When my mother was dying of cancer, I was her caregiver. As she reached the very end, I would sleep in her bedroom with her. I can't count how many times I felt presences, falling asleep with a light on and having something cast a shadow on my eyes as if they were moving their hand between my eyes and the light, stuff like that. I do believe they came to comfort Mom and help her die peacefully.

I kept thinking I saw a man walk past out of the corner of my eye, but when I turned no one was there. This kept happening, but I kept it to myself because I didn't want to sound silly. Until my boyfriend drove me home after closing and said "you know, I had the weirdest feeling that I kept seeing a man walk by out of the corner of my eye all night? But there wasn't anyone there."

So this happened last year. Me and my family were gone to a resort. Basically there is a clubhouse/reception thing on the very top of the hill and before that if you go left there is a set of rooms.

So we were coming back from swimming and there were 2 groups, me , my mother and my aunt and my sisters and our cousin. They were going infront of us and really fast. So when we reach the part where we have to go left to get to our rooms, we see my sister (let's call her SF) on the path to the clubhouse. Us 3 people all see her and then she speaks to us talking perfectly in our language(Sindhi). My mother tells me to go and get her but I refuse and go to our room. When I get there it turns out my sister has been there for 5 minutes already. My aunt comes in and sees her and calls to my mother that SF is already here. By the time that other SF is already gone.

Really creepy it framed everyone out and there were 3 witnesses

Indeed. One house I lived in Toronto, I woke up in the early hours because I was cold. And felt like I wasn't alone. Turned on the light, looked around, even in the closet and under the bed but nothing. It was just icy cold in the room. I got back into bed, turned out the light and started drifting off back to sleep when suddenly I was slapped across the face. Hard. It stung! Lights back on but nothing and no one and my room was warmer. In the morning, my face still red on one side, I mentioned it to my house mates. They looked at each other and told me I wasn't the first. We had an angry ghost who had energy. Nothing else ever happened but we could feel its presence.

Back in my 20's I bartended at a supposedly "haunted" bar. I never believed the rumors until one night I was closing up by myself and a police officer stopped in. We had a third floor we rented out occasionally and he stopped by to ask if we had anyone staying over in it that night because he saw someone standing in the window. We didn't have anyone renting it out and I was the only person there. He and his partner went up to check, but found no trace of anyone. They were nice enough to wait with me while I (quickly) closed up that night...

My friend didn't believe I'm psychic (and I believe we all are, so it's not like I've got superhuman powers, we all can do this), so he hid his eyeglasses in his house and asked me to find them.
I just focused on the eyeglasses -had to tell my friend to stfu so I could concentrate- and within an hour I found them where he had placed them without moving from my seat.

Everyone is psychic- it's about tuning in. It's not a parlor trick. How did the psychic at a party my brother was catering guess my name when no one knew he had a sister with my obscure name?

I paid a bunch to go on a "professional" ghost hunt at a fancy hotel. Me, first-timer, along with a bunch of repeat tour participants. One gal claims to be a psychic-in-training. We all walk down a hallway. The PIT claims there's a demonic presence. The others all agreed the hallway felt odd. My turn... nope, nothing odd. Except, on the way back along the well‐lit hallway I see a big ole live bee on a picture frame. I point out the bee. PIT says... OMG, I'm allergic to bees and I left my Epi-pen at home! This was "proof" of her skills. I guess this was more an "Abi-normal" story than paranormal... but closecas I've ever been to spooky.
