An eternity in Heaven is for me indistinguishable for eternity in Hell. An eternity of anything would become meaningless.
An afterlife should have an Exit Door. Stay for as long as you like but once you have had enough you get to leave. A never ending party is no party at all.
I always tell people to read about or watch videos about insanely, inconceivably large numbers. Numbers that make a trillion look infinitesimally small. Start with 52 factorial (written as 52!), the number of unique shuffles possible with a deck of 52 cards. Then learn about a googol, then a googolplex. Then move on to Graham’s number and wrap up with Tree3. Then imagine that you’re some angelic version of you, floating around in the afterlife for that amount of years. Day after day. But wait, why not multiply Tree3 years times 2? Or a million? Or Tree3 to the power of Tree3? And keep going. You’re Bob or Kim or Mozart for more years than it’s actually even possible to calculate. You’ve spent a trillion years each studying every atom in the universe. You’ve studied every language, created a billion others, and sung every melody that is possible, become a god yourself, but you still have infinity to go. What a nightmare.
You go to a waiting room, where billions upon billions of years pass before your reformed exactly as you were by pure chance and passage of time and your life resumes.
It would really be more like a time scale so unfathomably long that you wouldn't be able to comprehend it.
