I am a fifth grader and I am very new and I don't want to mess up on anything.

Your main priority should be studies. It’s also good to have friends but you should first focus on studying. If you forget things frequently then use sticky notes to remind you. If an assignment is due the next week you should start working on it the day it’s assigned or else you will procrastinate and get stressed and do everything last minute. Take notes during classes as your textbooks may not contain everything in the syllabus. Buy highlighters as you can colour code your keywords and things won’t look messy. You need to study everyday or else you’ll stress yourself out during the exams when the only thing you can do then is last minute revision. Try not to get on the wrong side of anyone especially the teachers. Don’t try to do anything risky to impress anyone as it might end horribly and you’d have to be absent for a few days and miss out on a lot. Try not to hang around sick people who don’t wear masks
Also, study not for the exams but to actually learn stuff because whatever comes in middle school will come in highschool and if you forgot middle school math then nobody will teach it in highschool
Embrace organization for success. Utilize planners to manage subjects. Create a balanced schedule with breaks. Embrace new friendships and new challenges. Regular study helps understanding. Prioritize health, such as balanced diet, enough sleep, regular exercise, and it's crucial to not overexert yourself on work, burnout can happen. Be true to yourself, resist peer pressure, and form supportive friendships. When dealing with a bully, stay composed, assert boundaries, and seek help when you need it. Best regards!
first of all, be prepared for it to not be the best few years of your life. its such an awkward time for everyone and everyone has different ways of handling it and so people might be mean or rude or not talk to you but it's also good because this is when you might start to find your people, the ones who have the same types of interests as you do. academics wise, choose your classes wisely. only do the ones you can handle well enough to keep ideally an A or at least a B in that class. get your work done in class whenever possible and finish your homework at school if you have free time in class. use the time given to you to get things done. that's all i can think of for now, but if it does suck remember it's only a few years and you'll be in high school soon. it's genuinely so much better, so just know that's what's waiting for you when you get out of middle school. best of luck, and you can talk to me anytime.
I'm an eighth grader, and was basically just like you. Don't try to fit in with 'popular' people. A lot of times 'popular' kids are a******s and might pressure people into things that aren't right. Don't stress over grades that much. Do you're best, retake tests (if you can), but mainly focus on friends. Don't be afraid to stand your ground if you're getting bullied or teased, it happens to everyone, and don't get involved in petty drama. Don't surround yourself with toxic people. Don't do drugs, smoke, vape, whatever preteens and teenagers try to get people to do. It'll just affect you later. Be yourself. Don't be fake, don't have fake friends. You'll be fine. Middle school sucks, but if you surround yourself with good people you'll have a great time. Good luck.
First of all, the age cutoff for this is 13. Please leave for your own safety. Don't worry about messing up, starting new schools is always gonna be scary. Middle school in general sucks, just be prepared for a really really new experience. Don't be loud, don't argue with people. Expect things to be a lot more aggressive than elementary. Take electives you really like, and connect with people in them. A lot of my friends are from my choir or band, just cause we have similar interests. Join some clubs if you have them and feel like it, it's a good way to meet people who share your interests. Beyond everything, remember that the focus of middle school isn't social life, it's learning new things. The math will try to murder you in your sleep, don't let it. Finish your homework. Don't talk to people in class, focus on learning. Even though none of your grades effect college stuff, you're learning really important stuff for high school, especially just learning how to learn stuff. Good luck!
"be careful, don't die."
But in all seriousness, have a little fun. Make a couple of friends, reinvent your image if you want to. I have NO idea what I'm doing and EVERYTHINg feels like stress and I'm in my last year of middle school. be kind. Try not to be too self-conscious because oftentimes people aren't thinking about you all that much because they're thinking about themselves. Probably.
Find your people and study hard. You'll do great.
