In light of the coronavirus pandemic, the world may sometimes seem a little bit like it’s going in slow motion. Therefore, it’s no wonder people are trying to find activities to make the most of this slowing down.

While some are dedicated to still making their social lives work despite the circumstances, others are living their best life indulging in their geeky hobbies. Turns out, the Witcher himself is one of the latter and spends his days in quarantine painting Warhammer miniatures.

The Witcher star Henry Cavill already has quite a reputation as Hollywood’s favorite geek

Actor and self-proclaimed geek Henry Cavill seems to have a love for all things fantasy. Probably most fans have already heard the story of how he missed the first Superman casting call because he was playing Warcraft. “It was an important part of a particular dungeon I was going through,” he said. Then he totally geeked out about The Witcher and told many stories about terrorizing the series’ creators about wanting to play Geralt of Rivia (let’s admit, we’re all grateful he did.) And now, Cavill has taken to Instagram to show his 11.4 million followers what’s he been up to during quarantine.

And he proved it once more in his Easter message on Instagram that he shared along with this picture of the Warhammer miniature he’s painting

He shared this picture of himself painting a Warhammer figurine on Easter, writing: “Considering we are, both, going through the Easter period, and going through The Lockdown, I figured it a good time to put a silver lining onto the cloud that is some of the darker moments during this time. So I’ve decided to polish some old skills and try my hand at some new ones! It is a time of rebirth after all. So, as you can see here, the obvious might look a little bit like a tiny helmet…which it is. One of my almost life long hobbies, that I’ve been following but not actively doing, is this. A company called Games Workshop…or plastic crack as ‘we’ call it. Genuinely can’t get enough of the lore they have built over the decades. They have been some of my most enthused reads! If you were in denial about me being a geek before, you can’t hide from it now. Also, in the background of this photo, there may just be some completely new skills I’m working on…..or there may not be, so all of your eye squinting and attempts at digital unfocusing will be in vain….orrrr maybe they won’t.”

We really hope he didn’t miss anything important due to his geeky habits this time

“I also wanted to take this opportunity to thank, from the bottom of my heart, all of the NHS (National Health Service, here in the UK) and healthcare workers worldwide, for your unceasing efforts to protect us. I imagine it might be feeling a little rough right now, but you Ladies and Gents are absolutely smashing it! Keep it up! You got this. ‘Hold on a second,’ I hear you utter…..’if he has both hands in the photo…how is he taking the photo??’ New skills, my friends….new skills,” he added.

As it’s already known, he missed the first Superman casting call because he was playing Warcraft

Hobbyist and one of the creators of Age of Miniatures, Peter Thuborg says that “Painting your first Warhammer army can be a big challenge.” He adds that “In order to succeed, it is very important for you to have a clear idea of what it is you want to achieve.” He also suggests to choose a paint scheme for your painting project in advance and, if possible, do a test model. If you’re keen on trying out painting a mini-figure yourself, you can try his step-by-step tutorial here.

That's like the meme a few weeks ago that said "Wash your hands like you're washing Jason Momoa" and the response was "Who the F*** licks their hands clean?"

painting figurine… that's bring me back when i played D&D (mostly the LOTR version) Don't h ave the time anymore or relative who play. it's funny because when it's a great looking person (men or woman) people find them cool… but when it's not people find them weird. it's not fair.

Honestly, the older a person gets, the more people find it to be cool. When I was younger everyone was making fun of those playing D&D, but now as adults, A LOT more people are accepting and even opened up to play it. I found out a majority of my department plays once in a while. At least this is my experience, but I could understand where you got your opinion from. A lot of shows still portray D&D as something lame played by stereotypical "losers" which really makes a bad impact on it. And there are still a lot of people that find it weird that people play it. It might be hypocritical, but I think it is a good thing Cavill is showing his love for something like this because it could influence a lot more people to open up to it. Maybe for the wrong reasons, but hey it might change people's opinion on the game completely!
