There’s one Halloween. One costume. And one and only Heidi Klum. Add those three and you get the legend that re-writes the rules in the Halloween transformations department. I mean, while you and I dress like black-robed witches at max, the queen pulls off everything from Princess Fiona, the monster from Alien, an ape, and 95-year-old… herself.

No wonder Heidi’s yearly Halloween costume reveals have become some of the most anticipated entertainment since she first pulled off goth Pippi Longstocking back in 2000. It all snowballed into the German supermodel becoming the symbol of the ghoulish holiday. “I don’t want to let my Halloween fans down because there are so many people who love creativity as much as I do and are jonesing to see what I do,” she told the press.

This year, Heidi’s costume is as crazy as the past years themselves as the grand reveal was made in the form of a spooky video that is a sequel to last year’s story.

When Heidi Klum first held her now-iconic Halloween party in 2000, she never imagined that her fete would be the most awaited event in New York nearly two decades later.

Heidi, who has been crowned the Queen of Halloween, told the Hollywood Reporter that “the costumes get bigger and better every year.” This is due to the fact that she is strict on her no costume=no entry policy, which means that “guests know they won’t get in unless they bring it.”

As you may suspect, Heidi puts a lot of devotion into creating the show-stealer look for her yearly Halloween bash. In fact, she starts thinking of ideas as early as November 1st, right after the party is over. “The morning of Nov. 1, I start thinking, ‘Maybe next year, I’m going to do that one that I didn’t do this year.’”

Throughout the year, Heidi looks for inspiration in movies, places, and things she experiences. “For example, when I was the robot in 2010, it was because I had been inspired during a trip to Disneyland. I saw the parade and saw all these people walking on stilts. I was like, ‘Ooh, I want to be on stilts!’”

Heidi took the idea of walking on stilts further and she became a superhero robot for the next Halloween bash. It meant she had to learn to walk on stilts, but nothing is impossible to the queen of transformations.

And Heidi has been keeping the costume bar high since 2011 when she employed a team of professionals to help her out with creating the intricate looks.

One of them is Mike Marino, Prosthetic Renaissance founder, who worked on cult films such as  2001’s Planet of the Apes and 2010’s Black Swan. Marino used his skills in prosthetics to create Heidi’s 2011 gorilla and 2015 Jessica Rabbit costumes.

The most important thing for Heidi is that people go full-on into their transformations. “I love it when people are unrecognizable. I love it when people don’t go halfway.” That means that every little detail is important, and there should be no room for error.

In that sense, Heidi has established a new kind of Halloween game that’s really not about dressing up, but about becoming your very own character.

Last year, Heidi Klum gifted her fans a true feast. She actually made a whole Halloween-themed video featuring her kids. In 2020 we entered the pandemic, so in the video, the supermodel tries to convince the family to celebrate Halloween at home. She makes fun of the panic buyers who caused toilet paper shortage and dresses up her children as mummies, rolling toilet paper all over them.

But the evening turns into a nightmare when the children are possessed and change into real mummies. Scared, Heidi tries to escape from them and to survive, she has to blend in with her surroundings. In the video, she shows two different looks of body paint. Firstly she disguises herself as a wood-paneled wall and later, and in another scene, she is seen blending in with a marble-patterned bedspread.

The Queen of Halloween didn’t disappoint this year either. Usually revealing her costume on the weekend, this year Heidi decided to surprise her fans earlier and posted the sequel to last year’s Halloween video on Friday. The second part of the story is titled Heidi Does Halloween II Klum’s Day. For horror movie fans, it will remind you of various movies about zombies and it actually has several references to the classics of the scary movie genre.

The video opens up with reminding us what happened last year and turns out that Heidi is not among the living anymore. Her children are sitting and watching movies, remembering how much their mom loved Halloween when suddenly the door bell rings and their mom walks through the door.

Heidi acts really weird and the children are starting to notice it. Only the viewers are the ones who see Heidi deteriorating, letting us know that she is actually not alive anymore. The special effects are truly amazing and quite realistic. The supermodel didn’t shy away from having all the gruesomeness she could in the video.

It reaches its peak when the family gathers for the Halloween dinner and the main dish is her children. Heidi doesn’t look like herself at all as her skin is falling off and the desire for flesh kicks in.

The video is really scary as it looks so professionally made and you can really tell that a lot of effort was put in. As mentioned, Heidi is known for her Halloween looks and going all out, but this year she has outdone herself.

Her costumes are so elaborate that everyone likes to know how the supermodel achieves such transformations; that is why Heidi shares some of the process of the costume making. On her Instagram, she posted videos and photos from behind the scenes of her home movie and you can see how she has her makeup done to make the skin look like it’s falling off and how the filming went.

Jupp, she doesn't do it by herself, so what? People spend money on different things, so if it makes her happy there's nothing wrong. I think it's entertaining and funny. :)

She designs and creates these performances with professionals - just like every director does with their movies. Every celebrity/rich person has this opportunity - but she is the only one who has perfected this for decades. The difference between Heidi and the countless others who do the same: she attracts attention because she presents it better than the others. If it were only because of her money, there would be thousands like Heidi.
