A month ago my partner and I visited the most amazing cat sanctuary on one of Hawaii’s small islands, Lanai. Here they have an extremely unique sanctuary program for cats, which over 580 felines call home.
We spent about 4 hours speaking with the sanctuary’s team, taking photos, and well… petting cats. If you ever make it to Hawaii, Lanai Cat Sanctuary is not to be missed. Enjoy!

Share on FacebookLarry Ellison owns the island and has done a lot for the sanctuary.
I would love to go there that is amazing! I wonder how they keep track of flea treatments, vaccines and medical treatment among so many kitties.
These were some of the questions we asked. Rest assured that they provide top quality care to not only their cats, but all of the island's residents' cats As well. Truly a remarkable place!

Unreal. I can't imagine what the the day to day upkeep is at a place like that but whatever it is it's worth it.
Wow, you capture these purrfect moments so well! It's amazing how their unique personalities come through these pictures. :) Congrats! It warms my heart to know that these kind of places exist, where so many cats are well taken care of. I would be happy to see more of your work here on BoredPanda! :)
All these cats share the same, "What are you doing here?" assy look. Like cats do. istilllovesthem
All of the cats are so gorgeous! I have a question, though. Some of the cats' ears are clipped/marked. Do the owners do that, or do the cats get into fights and get the marks on their ears?
Usually when a cat's ear is clipped, it means that cat has been neutered/spayed. I could be wrong in this instance, but I believe that's what that means.

This place not only saves the cats, but it also saves the birds of Hawaii. Having the cats in a sanctuary like this keeps them from feeding on the birds. It keeps them safe, healthy, and well cared for. PLUS all cats are available for adoption!
It is THE best thing about Hawaii! I would move there in a heartbeat if I could. It is my dream.
Such stunning photos. Thank you for sharing. You should do a calendar. Sign me up for 3 or 4!
Logan -u smell like s**t!! Ana- how do YOU smell?? Don't be jealous that you both aren't as smart as half a cat! Cat domination!!!!!!!
I wish I could adopt all these beautiful furbabies and give them a loving furever home.
No no NO! I shall not go there! ... Cause I'd want to adopt them all 😁
I would encourage you to read about the island's history and why this sanctuary was created. It protects both cats and the island's native wildlife.
