Heartbroken Pit Bull Cries After His Family Leaves Him In A Shelter
When a high-kill shelter received this pit bull, nobody expected the emotional roller coaster he took them on. When one person offered Blue King (Blue for short) a treat, he sniffed it, but didn’t eat it. The only thing Blue did was cry behind the bars of his kennel door. Additionally, tears were dripping from his eyes, and some speculate that it was due to allergies.
Blue King’s family surrendered him to Carson Shelter in California because they decided to move and not take the dog to the new home. Since Carson Shelter is a high-kill facility, the longer Blue stayed there, the higher the chances of his euthanasia got. Eventually, a few volunteers noticed Blue’s more-than-sad face and decided to help the pooch. They shot a video of him and uploaded it to Facebook, hoping someone would adopt him.
Shortly after, a woman named Jennifer McKay came over to meet Blue. “He looked very sad and depressed,” McKay told The Dodo. “He wouldn’t even acknowledge me at all. All the other dogs were making eye contact and wagging their tails, but he wouldn’t stand up, wouldn’t come see me.”
“You could tell that every time someone walked by, it was like he was looking for [his family],” she said. “It’s like he knew he had been left there.” McKay had made up her mind to adopt Blue, and after the dog passed the temperament test, she took him home. After he left the shelter, Blue King became a new dog. His new owner says that Blue loves sleeping, belly rubs, cuddles, and gazing into the mirrors. “He’s obsessed with looking at himself in the mirror,” McKay said. Blue still has a lot of learning to do (including the basic commands and walking on a leash) but McKay says that the once-shelter dog is going to be fine.

Share on FacebookWhy would you not take the dog to the new home? When I move out of somewhere the next place I go to has to be animal friendly.
Some people unfortunately can't take their animals along! When I was younger we had a dog, and we really, really loved him. Unfortunately, when we moved to another country it wasn't possible for us to take him, as we had literally nothing, not even a house. It still breaks my heart to think about him, but he has a new family and is now old - we'll always miss him, but it's not always possible to bring your animal with you.
Load More Replies...Bless your precious heart, for taking care of that baby. As people we don't deserve something as pure as a dog.
I would never move without my dogs, if they can't go then I can't go. I made a commitment to them when I adopted them that I would watch over them until the day I died. The only reason I can understand for getting rid of an animal is if it too aggressive or if you are physically unable to care for it. I told my co-worker that I was planning to move overseas in the next few years and how it was a perfect time to do it since the only obligation I have is to my dogs. She responded with "Yes, and they should be easy to find homes for." I just stopped dead and was like "Oh no, they are coming with me." Sure moving dogs overseas can be difficult, but if something happens and it can't be done then I will simply stay where I am.
Dammit! I KNEW I shouldn't read this... but... ooh, no! Here I come and read a story about a sad dog! Now I'm crying. At the office. Why didn't I listen to that little voice?
God, bless you for taking Blue! Pit bulls are amazing. Up to about 1 year ago I said I would NEVER EVER own one. Then we saw this dog on the side of the road bloody and having a very hard time breathing. As I got closer I could see it was a pit. However, there was no way in God's green earth I was gonna leave any defenceless animal just laying there so my husband and I got her in our car and took her to the closes animal hospital. Bottom line the doc determined some A@@hole used her as either a bare dog or in a fight. And she had puncture holes in her head and chest which is why she was struggling to breath one of the ones in her chest puctured her lung. Anyways, the doc saved her and because we agreed to keep her only charged us 50% of her bill. She is beautiful girl so started calling her Bella. Let me tell you, she is so loving, cuddly, and full of kisses. I've had dogs my whole life and as a first time pitbull owner, all I can say is I will never own another kind. We love our Bella
If you adopt/buy a dog, do your freaking research first and make up your mind. Unless something drastic happens, you shouldn't put your animal in a shelter. For heaven's sake. Also, people need to seriously do their RESEARCH before getting a dog. Like don't buy a german shephard if you hate exercising or walking. ugh
I don't understand how people make a dog or cat part of their family then go and just leave them behind. I know sometimes situations arise and you can't control them, but how does a person just decide they don't want their pet anymore?
Best case scenario, they had to move for work reasons or similar and their new accommodation would not allow the dog…that's about the only way I can see to excuse them

apparently some people dont think of pets as family. shame on that family. Our dog is considered a child...i sure as hell could NEVER ABANDON my dog. Im so happy Blue has a new owner who will hopefully love him forever....***PEOPLE...dogs are better than people. dont forget that!!!! whats even more sad is that Blue still loves his old family just as much...dogs love unconditionally. damn onions... s**t...
I don't understand some people...dogs are family, they have feelings and show emotions just like us. Id never abandon my pets. If they can't come with me I don't go. We're a little family and we stay together 👪💕🐶
What kind of a******s DON'T take their dog with them to a new home???? THEY'RE FAMILY!!!!
Jennifer McKay, please keep Blue forever no matter what. And be happy.
If you get a pet, then you adopt a living family member. Pet's are not toys. It breaks my heart that people can be so cruel to leave their children behind. And to top it off, at a high kill shelter. We don't deserve to survive on this planet, when all we do is tear it apart.
Here also yesterday J dit see a nice dog.he was lost..and try to find huis owners

People think that dogs and cats do not have feelings or understand what is going on, but they do! Blue knew that he had been abandoned and was heart broken. People who do this are mean and cold. Thank Jennifer McKay for giving him a loving home.
Reading the story about "Blue" actually brought tears to my eyes.Having a pet is like having a child. Would you give your human child away because you did not feel like taking care of him anymore? I could not even imagine being without my 'Roxy Anne". <3 <3 <3 1007090929...d32fb3.jpg
Animals do not cry like humans. As a vet I am sure of that. Their sadness can be seen in the eyes, lack if enthusiasm and appetite. I noticed hypersalivation as well. So the lacrimae were due to other than emotional causes. I am happy the dog is well now. It is a very pretty one.
Since I adopted my first dog almost one year ago I understood how meant and stupid the human being can be. Animals are amazing creatures
Well onething want to say people like those.."Don't adopt any animal if you can't take care of them life long, they are animal not anything like use and throw, they have life"..there should be some rules ...to stop this kind of behavior....Thanx to the woman who adopted....
Poor baby. I can't understand why you would move home and not take your dog; like, would you also leave your kids behind because they are inconvenient??
Dogs don't cry with tears. Tears indicate some kind of eye illness for the dog. However touching the story is (I am so glad he has home now) it shouldn't be a reason to misinform and emotionaly manipulate people. If your dog cries don't try to cheer them up, take them to the vet.
So glad he found he found someone to love him as he should be loved! May you both have a long and happy life together!
Apparently I am very happy that he's found his furever home (which I am!) cuz I repeated myself.....sorry about that

That's what my Mom did when I was in an apartment that didn't allow pets and my Dad had just died. Our dog was inconsolable and my Mom was at work all day and hardly at home (barely coping herself). My Mom sent Honey, who was then elderly, to a "retirement " home. We visited her as often as we could and she seemed to be happy to have a stay at home Mom and a new "child" supplying plenty of hugs and kisses until she died yeasts later of natural causes. Win/win.
Years not yeasts. God, I hate spell check!

Look, they obviously didn't know what to do with that dog. He still doesn't know many basic commands. People want a pit but are not aware that they are going to be dealing with a very active dog. They are loving, loyal and can be trusted but must be trained and loved. They are huge lap dogs. It hurts me to know what Blue went through and how hurt he was. These animals have real feelings of love and happiness, yes, hurt and sadness. My heart is just hurting even though he was better later.
God bless....! They do have feelings..... Jennifer McCay you are blessed .....!
I seriously think that people should not make an attempt to be responsible for an animal if you have no back bone to begin with. They aren't sh+t. I would and have starved before my dog. What part of you are their "care taker" don't these people understand? Some of these animals are adopted already abandoned. They don't need to be abandoned twice. Why don't you add insult to injury. Geez.
When you adopt an animal, it becomes part of your family. Permanently, no matter what. People who treat animals as objects make me so angry!
I adopted a pit from the animal shelter,I would give up my wife before letting my dog go anywhere. every time I walk out the door of my house with her she cries and howls thinking I won't come back. I come back home and she's goes crazy running around the house dancing because she so happy I returned when we're together there's no need for a lead because she won't leave my side. And she won't let certain people within 10 feet of me. Mainly a few neighbors she don't trust.

This breaks my heart. We just moved into a pet friendly home and i am so happy. Now i can rescue a sweet dog like blue. Some humans are pure evil
I THINK HIS NEW OWNER IS AN ANGEL, HIS GUARDIAN ANGEL! THANK YOU FOR TAKING HIM HOME, HE LOOKS SO HAPPY.
Name one good reason that you would leave your dog in a shelter! When the head(s) of this family age and their kids can't be bothered anymore, they will be dropped off in the nearest home. This is the lesson they taught their family. No loyalty, no compassion, no effort. Everything is disposable. So glad Blue is happy!
Sometimes it's better NOT to get a pet, especially a dog that bonds so strong to his owner, if you may have such changes in life. I waited for years until I knew I will no more be away from home this much that I decided to give home to two cats from a shelter.
At first I was sad. Then I cried theses of happiness. Also, if you get a dog, it's for life. No matter who dies first.
BASTARDS! Why is there not a national registry for banning such people from ever owning a pet again?
I HATE PEOPLE! They do NOT deserve to have a dog! SO glad he found a FOREVER home! Watch, those people will turn around and get a NEW puppy in a year. When they are not amused anymore, they will dump that one too!
You dont leave a dog. When you buy a dog, its for life, you are his family /pack. Dogs can be very emotional when separated from their family. Thank God this little beauty found a loving home. He surely deserve it.
