I am so tired of seeing everyone being accused of being racist over the stupidest thing, and not standing up for themselves. I am of mixed heritage, which went a long way of teaching me how terribly important skin color is, in the grand scheme (hint, it's not) but feel like somehow I'm the only one that got that memo. Like you, I reached the same conclusion, that these kids were probably white. But didn't care about that. Only cared about how interesting the story was and how well written. Why can't that ever be enough?

just because something is 'rare' doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I know black people with green eyes, and light brown bushy hair. any race ca have different eye colors, hair colors, ect, green eyes are not reserved to white people.

It's a fictional story where people can diasappear and reappear in the blink of an eye, where hippogriffs let people ride them and where there are invisible skeleton horses that can fly. If you can go along with all that, but not a scenario where the characters are different colors, then that's a product systemic racism and you are part of the problem. Hiding behind 'canon' of a fictional fantasy land is b******t.

Dana u r just being stupid and a moron. And I m not ignorant. I said it was hinted. I clearly said it was rare. Do u have any idea how we describe anything in the world, by telling it in the most common form. And I don't deal with either community on a daily basis so how it would strike me as the rarity is being explained. U have clearly never paid attention to biology. Besides I would have said the same thing if the characters were all described black but drawn white. I don't have a problem with the colour I m just stating a point. You are being racist and black people have as much variation in skin tone and origin as all other races. Your not only being racist your being ignorant.

Signed manat hansen. I m not being a racist. I m just raising a normal observation which would not be considered if there was not such history involved between white and black ppl. I live on the other side of the globe. And I didn't even knew abt this stupidity for quite a long time. In my culture we we're never taught nor have i seen ppl discriminating against someone based on their colour skin. It was never a concept for me until I read Uncle Tom's cabin when I was 9. So how I can even be racist. I don't deal with either community. Nor I see the importance in such ridiculous nd nonsense behavior. I raised a simple and accurate observation. It's not my fault the people out there wanna see everything from their perspective only.

Tyress nobody asked for ur opinion on what I should or shouldn't accept. So just shut it. And for the record I don't belong to either community. I have no problem or animosity towards either of them. Like I don't even think about them. I don't go on making fantastical stories of prejudice in my mind.

Yes and I also think it's ridiculous how black people claim Hermione is black just because of her frizzy hair! I have a frizzy, curly afro that can put most black people to shame, and I am as white and pale as can be. Hermione is white. Period. I have nothing against black characters, and adore the characters in the story that are clearly stated as black, but when the character is clearly white and black people blackwash them and the author just goes along with it because she doesn't want to offend people, it pisses me off. It's like if white people turned the black characters white, but there would be an uproar for sure if that happened, because things like that are apparently only offensive when white people do it
