Yes! Biphobia is a thing, and it get completely ignored. So many people just don't get that there are unique issues when it comes to discrimination against bisexual people. I'm sorry you cant talk to your friend, Burs. Maybe if you told them their reaction would be different than you are expecting? And, if not, is that really the kind of friendship you want to hang on to? I realize that's over simplifying things but, maybe something to consider. I hope things work out for you.

If people could drop their phobias and abandon their religious taboos, we'd see a lot more people who were bisexual. In Japan, before the advent of Westerners who told them otherwise, sex was just sex and gender didn't matter. A man was just as apt to have sex with another man as he was with a woman. In fact, Samurai soldiers often had sex with one another because their wives couldn't be trusted: Samurai often wed the widows of the men they had killed in battle. In those days, the women were trained to wield a sword and would sometimes kill their new husbands in revenge. For this reason, the Samurai often slept with their swords by their sides. Interesting times, to say the least.

In some ways, the zealotry reminds me of the Women's movement here in the USA in the early 1970s. Initially, it began with working women wanting the same pay for equal work, more recognition and rights in the workplace, support for maternity leave and working mothers. The movement was quickly taken over by militant man-hating feminists who openly attacked men for being men. "Male chauvinist pig!" became the battle cry of the movement. I was a bit too young to understand it all but looking back, I realize the radical militant feminists hurt the movement more than they helped. Today, I can see the same thing going on not only in the LGBTQIA+ movement but also in the racial and political divide in the USA. It's sad and demoralizing to watch.
