Desperate Man Without Address Draws Map On Envelope Instead, And It Gets Delivered

An Iceland tourist didn’t have the address of the person he was sending a letter to, but luckily, he had a good memory.

So, instead of  putting an address on the envelope, he drew a map which leads to a farm in Hvammsveit, West Iceland, with a red dot marked on the destination. The envelope reads: ‘Country: Iceland. City: Búðardalur. Name: A horse farm with an Icelandic/Danish couple and three kids and a lot of sheep!’. It also has a little clue in the corner saying that ‘the Danish woman works in a supermarket in Búðardalur.’ How cute!

Given the perfectly memorized location, would a reverse search on a map tool ("What address is here?") have worked? Nice story nonetheless.

We have 370.000 people living in Iceland. That place where this letter was sent has 10 people of the total population. The postal service was good...

This happened to my Grandfather! A German tourist sent him some pictures she took and wrote "To the man who grows the beautiful sunflowers at the grey stone barn, Bar Harbor, Maine" with the zip and USA and it made it! She drew a map of the area and attached a small (1 inch) picture of him as well. He had been growing hundreds of sunflowers out front for a few years and it was quite the attraction so the postman knew just where to take it. This would have been in the 2000s.

You never give enough information in your stories. I want to know why he was writing to this person, what the person's reaction was - you know, who what where when how and why!!! rules of journalism. LOL

Clever! I once received a letter from Stuttgart addressed to "ROBOT", Eureka, California, USA with "KRAFTWERK" and "STAR TREK" written on the back. A lady who worked at the main post office knew me and made sure I got it. Danke. :D

In my country post office these days it's totally opposite of what it used to be. You could even include GPS coordinates and a picture of the house it should be delivered to, but still your neighbor few hundred meters away would get your mail, not you. That is, if it doesn't get lost on it's way, which also happens.

Anyone got the inclination to overlay the photo with the drawing. I'd like to see that, as I can't make it out.
