This post is strictly for guys, and we may just spill a few well-kept secrets, so be warned.
Okay, now that everyone else has left and only guys are here, feel free to kick back, relax, and crack open a cold one. We've got a post just for you. The subreddit r/TrollYChromosome is only for guys, and the motto is, "Quality Reddit dudes sharing quality Reddit wisdom."
You might find funny situations, laugh, relate, and in general get a grasp of what it's like to live in this world with chromosome Y. For it is not only women that have issues, men deal with double standards, societal pressures to be masculine and their own daily struggles.

Dear men. It is manly to read books. It is manly to wear cute clothes. It is manly to care for your kids. It is manly to relax sometimes. It is manly to do housework. It is manly to love yourself. It is manly to cry, to feel, to BE human. Allow yourself that, please. You have my permission to be human. And if you don’t want it to be manly, it doesn’t have to be. It can be a multitude of things because manliness doesn’t define you. YOU define you. That’s kind of your whole job.
What does it mean to be a man in today's world? It's a simple question with no simple answer. What is masculinity and what does it mean to men? Many people would say that it means men being aggressive, oppressing women, dropping sexist comments... Very few people actually dig into the topic and think deeply about what masculinity actually is.
A Lot Of Kids I've Seen Act Way Mature Than Actual Adults
Yeah... I'm s**t at handling rejection. I just run away and eat pizza.
Girls Are Always Taught How To Stay Safe, It's Not As Common To Teach Boys, And I Feel Like We Have Lots Of Young Men Here (Xpost Trollxchrosomes
The old "when a girl says no she's *playing* hard to get" toxic mythe.
David D. Gilmore tried to find an answer in his book “Manhood in the Making." He examined cultures around the world and found some universal principles of what it meant to be a man. "Gilmore’s main finding was that no matter what culture or society he surveyed, there were always three clear, distinctive, and universal principles common to all men. They are the basic ingredients of the masculinity cocktail, no matter where you go."

I'm straight and I like to do my hair and wear markup. I also look smashing in a black miniskirt. Does that make me gay? No it makes me sexy AF.

I Like It Here. Keep Smiling Guys
The main reasons for these duties were that men were stronger and more expendable. The Authentic Man online magazine argues that, "The number of women directly correlated with a species’ ability to survive. A single female could carry, bear, and nurture only a limited number of children, whereas a few men were enough to conceive all of them. Put simply, the womb was more valuable than the sperm. Men were the ones who had to engage in dangerous tasks like hunting mammoths or beating up rival tribes."

Times change, but many of these duties are still attributed to men. A lot of boys when growing up were taught to just "suck it up" when dealing with difficult times. It was not acceptable to cry, share emotions or in general be "weak." It is quite sad when you think about it... not to be given the same platform to feel out your emotions as women, but rather try to always "be strong".

The outcome of this was many men being silent when having troubles, not expressing their feelings and trying to always act tough. It is a recipe for disaster with outcomes like mental health issues, bad communication in relationships, depression, etc.

Luckily, times are changing and with today's fast-moving world, men are finally seen as a whole person, not just the strong ones to always lean on. Men are more open and free to express their fears, desires and bad feelings. We are shifting into a place where vulnerability and authenticity are celebrated, with strength being considered being able to openly communicate what's inside.
It's True
Toxic masculinity hurts everyone, including men. It's called "toxic" for a reason.

I love the message that although Thor was going through a ton of grief and guilt, despite the fact that he’d been dealing with depression and subsequently weight gain, he was still worthy.
On A Scale From Y To 10 How Is This Bad?
Hopefully this means better mental health, relationships with family and men being able to show their softer and creative side. Keep scrolling to have a laugh, relate, and get a grasp of what it's like to be a man in today's world. Feel free to upvote your favorite posts.
Boom
Never understood this. I used to sub for an exgf who was a dom at playshows. I'm OK being seen seen in public but NOT OK being recorded and posted on the web. Most places like that make you check your phone at the door these days.
It Ain't Gay
Damn I Really Wonder Why
There's a ute (pick up truck) someone drives around here with a big bumpersticker on the back that says "It ain't weak to speak" and I love it so much.

I’ve always lived under the philosophy of ‘if they don’t like the real you when you reveal it in meeting them, they wouldn’t like the real you when you reveal it after being friends for a while’. It’s worth just being yourself as and when you meet someone, rather than waste the energy on someone who eventually won’t like you.
How Dare You, Sir!
Well I'm rubbish at tinkering so I don't even know what that means.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but there are two screwdriver heads (the lil pointy bit at the end) one of them has an x thing, which fits into the screws with an x thing on top, so they’re easier to twist, and another is just a straight line (that’s the flathead one I believe) which fits into the screws with just an indent

Wow, the "draw". My father used to call it that, he was from New England. If you see this comment, please tell me where you're from.
Load More Replies...I'm a chick with a whole toolbox. That simply makes me self-sufficient because I also live alone. But, ain't afraid to ask for help
I've met women who are incredible at plumbing, carpentry, flooring, tiling, etc. One woman gutted her house and completely rebuilt it - way better than most XY chromosomal people!
Load More Replies...Me (female with an extensive tool collection): "I think you will find I have many."
Oh, I live for the day that someone asks to borrow a random tool, expecting me to not have it. I have them all. Yes, All...The...Tools. Power, hand, micro, woodworking, metalworking, auto and bike repair, hobby stuff, building stuff, all of it. Also, I may have a tiny problem with tool hoarding. I'd work on it, but that's one job that doesn't require tools so I'm not really interested.
"Flathead" describes a type of screw profile (other examples being panhead or button-head) but it is NOT a drive type. The drive-type that is often mistakenly called flathead is actually called "slotted" and the corresponding driver is therefore a "slotted screwdriver". Calling a slotted screwdriver a "flathead" is a subtle way of telling a handy person "I don't know what I'm doing".
Most likely he needed a very small flat blade which would normally not be used in plumbing work. I've loaned a really long screwdriver to a satellite dish installer because I apparently have a roof with a really weird compound angle which made regular access impossible.

Right, bois, bros, men, listen to me right now. After reading this, you will get up and you will get a drink of water. This is non-negotiable. I will mangle your pre-frontal cortexes. While you’re up, find a mirror and appreciate yourself. I must say, your eyes are beautiful. That is not a lie, and not a general term directed to all the men reading this. That compliment is directed to you and you alone. Accept it. Now take a moment to contemplate the fall of humanity before returning to what you were doing before. Thank you. And to my grls, sis, women, give your bois a compliment. It doesn’t have to be anything drastic.
Nicest post I‘ve seen on BP in many months! Thank you! 🙏🏻❤️
Load More Replies...I just want to say one of the bravest and hardest things to do is ask for help, so if you're a man reading this feeling like you can't ask for help - you need to know that. you need to know it's so hard, but worth it. Society is BS. Get the help you need, live a better life. Take care!
Funny and accurate. I'm very happy in my skin and font give a c**p about what people think of me...says bloke not in a relationship. Ah, the irony
Males of the human species, if you need a cry? I got two shoulders, no waiting, and no judging. You need an honorary sis, auntie, whatever, I got you. Your role is what you decide, not what some sociologist or magazine does. Or a neighbor or relative, for that matter. You don't need to be lonely while not alone in the world.
Fellas, I hope you start complementing each other. Ladies, express appreciation for your dudes. I complement my hubby and other guys and I know well, but rarely male strangers specifically because I don't want them to think I'm interested just because they have a cool shirt or nice hair. Then comes the potential rejection which can sometimes go sideways, so there's an element of fear. It's not that I don't want to tell you your eyes are really pretty, it's just that I have weighed the potential consequences.
If you respond to this I will give you a personalized compliment, but I’m not giving them for free. In return you have to try to have a good day.
