Dear men. It is manly to read books. It is manly to wear cute clothes. It is manly to care for your kids. It is manly to relax sometimes. It is manly to do housework. It is manly to love yourself. It is manly to cry, to feel, to BE human. Allow yourself that, please. You have my permission to be human. And if you don’t want it to be manly, it doesn’t have to be. It can be a multitude of things because manliness doesn’t define you. YOU define you. That’s kind of your whole job.
What does it mean to be a man in today's world? It's a simple question with no simple answer. What is masculinity and what does it mean to men? Many people would say that it means men being aggressive, oppressing women, dropping sexist comments... Very few people actually dig into the topic and think deeply about what masculinity actually is.

Times change, but many of these duties are still attributed to men. A lot of boys when growing up were taught to just "suck it up" when dealing with difficult times. It was not acceptable to cry, share emotions or in general be "weak." It is quite sad when you think about it... not to be given the same platform to feel out your emotions as women, but rather try to always "be strong".

I’ve always lived under the philosophy of ‘if they don’t like the real you when you reveal it in meeting them, they wouldn’t like the real you when you reveal it after being friends for a while’. It’s worth just being yourself as and when you meet someone, rather than waste the energy on someone who eventually won’t like you.

Fellas, I hope you start complementing each other. Ladies, express appreciation for your dudes. I complement my hubby and other guys and I know well, but rarely male strangers specifically because I don't want them to think I'm interested just because they have a cool shirt or nice hair. Then comes the potential rejection which can sometimes go sideways, so there's an element of fear. It's not that I don't want to tell you your eyes are really pretty, it's just that I have weighed the potential consequences.
