This Stray Cat Accidentally Turned Itself Green

That’s not Photoshop – that’s a real-life green cat that has been stalking the streets of Varna, Bulgaria. Residents stumped by its bizarre color were led on a hunt to find out the secret of its unnatural coloration.

The first suspicion was that someone had played a cruel joke on the cat by painting it green. Residents had even formed a Facebook group to coordinate their search for the culprits. The truth, however, was somewhat less nefarious – it was discovered that the cat had taken a liking to sleeping in a pile of powdered green paint at a local garage.

So far, efforts to capture the cat and clean it or inspect it for health issues have been unsuccessful. However, neither the cat nor its friends seem very bothered by its peculiar coat!

There’s a mysterious green cat roaming the streets of Varna, Bulgaria

At first, concerned residents thought the stray had been the target of a malicious prank

A Facebook group was formed to search for the culprit

The truth turned out to be a bit less sinister, however…

The cat had been sleeping on a bag of powdered green paint at a local garage!

The cat seems not to mind the color, and neither does her friend

The paint may have left negative side-effects, but no one’s been able to catch the cat to check

Please look after the green cat. She needs care or else will poison herself with the paint on her fur. If only we live in the same country.

Someone please catch it and take it to a vet. The chemicals in the paint will probably kill it otherwise.

Poor kitty! Cats lick themselves to keep clean. She has probably infested toxic chemicals from the paint and needs treated by a vet

Make the garage owner put the stuff in sealed containers, and clean up the floor or ground. Pass laws to make him obey. Or shut him down.

Paint, or rat poison, both are killers. Death by poisoning is very painful. Other cats will be affected as they groom each other.

Make the garage owner-operator buy sealed containers for the paint, clean up the ground; or shut him down, out of business. Pass new laws!!!

Poisoning by paint or otherwise is a painful death. Prevent suffering. Don't be part of the sick thinking that's it's funny.

NOT FUNNY, OR CUTE. Paint is toxic, will ingest by licking, other cats will lick, too. Store paint SAFELY away from cats,

Rescue the cat. Dangerous as cats groom themselves. Contain the paint. Interfering with its habits one needs to find a safe home for it.

I'm really hoping that someone or a group would take the cat to a vet so it'll be checked and be cleaned off of that paint. :(

It would suggest they found the source of the colour. I wish they would have told us if the paint was toxic to cats?

This is awful. Has anyone cleaned up the paint on this poor kitty's pallet?

He said that if the paint hasn't affected the cat after she has licked herself, it's probably not a problem.

Aren't there any street/homeless animals in your continent? Seriously, this one seems OK - haves some shelter and does not look starving.

those people overly concerned about this animal's health can do better to improve the lives of human beings living rough around there
