If The Government Was All-Female And Treated Men Like It Treats Women (5 Pics)
It’s no big secret that the US government, like many others in the world, is dominated by men. This means that choices are often made about women’s bodies based on biased and patriarchal thinking. What if the tables were turned?
LA-based illustrator Katie Rose has imagined this alternate universe in a series of cartoons posted on CollegeHumor. They tackle issues like body shame, reproductive health, and pharmaceutical pricing inequality, but with men at the foot-end of it all. The first frame, showing a group of elderly female politicians making rash decisions on men’s rights, is chillingly relevant to today’s political climate.
Though a cartoon alone can’t change governmental flaws, it opens the door on important discussions that can. Share this post with the men in your life who might see things more clearly from a different angle.

Share on FacebookThe birth control one bothers me most. I know so many girls who go through uncomfortable doc appts, hormonal changes, weight gain, scary side affects (like risk of stroke), basically putting their health at risk for birth control, all because the guy refuses to wear a condom because "it doesn't feel as good" yeah well, neither does 9 mos of pregnancy, or the s****y side affects of birth control!
Those men are not worth being with. Plain and simple.
Load More Replies...And if anyone was confused on what action I was suggesting such women take against such "men", I meant that they should leave them.
Exactly. I couldn't even tell you whether it does or doesn't "feel as good" because I've only ever had sex with a condom. It's what responsible people do.
So don't hook up with them if they don't wear condoms? I could literally find a problem with anything I encounter on the daily but I choose to look at the positive. Like the opportunity to exercise free will. People complaining is what is tearing this f*****g world apart. Go back to watching Rick and morty
not to mention, the pill, nuvo ring, and all that other c**p doesn't prevent STDs. It's a lot to sacrifice is all I'm saying.
Condoms don't even work all the time. I know girls who got pregnant when the condom broke and other contraceptives are not 100% effective either. If you take a prescription to treat a medical condition you may not be able to take anything that has a chemical drug and that includes nuvo rings, patches, pills, etc. Pregnancy is a life changer but most pregnancies, whether you're married or not, young or old, are unplanned. It's better than an STD, as STD's are so contagious and can be passed on to your baby. It's not the end of the world. There is a lot of fear mongering and shaming going on with pregnancy. It used to not be about age as much as it was about religion. Ideals somehow morphed into making females ashamed of their body functions and treating their fertility like it's a disease.
No, I know that. My sister uses the pill because she gets small cysts, and they minimize her cramping (because it gets bad). But I'm speaking to the comic here and the implications of women often having to be the provider of protection.
True, I was on birth control as part of my infertility treatment. It sounds strange, but the pill can regulate your cycle so that you can know when to stop taking it and start attempting to conceive. Men and women who are not highly trained reproductive specialists have no business making regulations on women's reproductive health. And personal ideals do not belong in the decision process.
Birth control pills are only good for monogamous couples, as they will not stop any STD from happening.
I've been taking contraception pills for years, and I can assure you what you say is a bit exaggerated... The pills let the woman to be in control of her menstruations and pms. Various types of pills fit various type of health for various kinds of women. Modern pills are safer than older pills from past decades. It is, however, highly important, that you stick to the schedule, and that you don't smoke cigarettes. If you have some health condition in general, which might be affected by pills, then it can indeed become a problem, but for average, regular, more or less healthy women, you should have no problems. But DO visit a doctor before you decide taking them, and in case you notice some physical or mental discomfort that you suspect might be causes by the pills.
Daria? Did you even read the comment? What you are talking about is off subject, what I'm talking about is in RELATION to the situation IN the comic. Yes, I know there are exceptions, there are to everything. I know lesbians that take birth control for period regulation and other things. But that's not a situation the comic is reflecting. I'm exclusively referring to sex, per the comic, which shows what women have to go through (if roles were reversed) to get on the pill, whereas for guys, its as simple as putting something on your junk, which has virtually no side affects other than not "feeling as good".
Daria, unless you have been with someone new in the last decade, I can assure you, tons of guys (specifically college age) will say and do nearly anything to get out of having to wear a condom "oh my pull out game is strong" or "its too tight" or "I'm allergic to them" the excuses are endless. lol
For Amanda Panda -> I'm not sure why you're telling me that because nowhere in my comment I mention ANY kind of men/boys. But, if that matters, I've been recently married to the man I've been in an over half decade long stable relationship, living together. For Acoustic -> Yes, I've read your comment, that's exactly why I wrote the reply. If I made a mistake of misunderstanding you, then it's because I failed to connect it to the contents of the comic, which for I'd offer my appology. It's just that, with all the brith control phobia still present today, your comment sounded like one more of these, but I'M GLAD I WAS WRONG. Thank you.
Who's forcing them to date those guys. Find guys who are more caring. Simple as that.
It does take 2 to tango. Plenty of women do not like condoms either. Such BS blaming all their woes on men.
Me and my gf use a daysy instead it will tell you when she is about to release an egg and all you have to do is not have sex on those 6 days or use a condom.
Remember though not all women take birth control to prevent pregnancy, it's also used to help regulate the monthly cycle, or help control breakouts.
Wait a min. U pointing at all man's it not true. It equality both man's and ladys dislike condom. But my ex girlfriends try to make me take my condoms off I wouldent allowed it. I simply told them don't take birth condom just use condom made for women's. Come on lady's
Sorry mate, but I've met woman that want birth control even though they don't have sex or have sex rarely because of the helpful sideffects it has in terms of period control. Personally, idfc if they have bc or not, not a bad idea to double up if you can.
Idc* my bad. Also, hopefully one day we will have a male birth control pill as well, one that doesn't make it's users permanently sterile I mean.
It's got nothing to do with guys refusing to wear a condom. For some women it regulates conditions like PCOS, heavy cramping, heavy periods, etc... Other women use them as a second method of preventing pregnancy IN CASE a condom fails, and they do. So where's the harm in that? And yeah, birth control has a risk of stroke associated with it, but mostly for smokers. If you're smoking you're already taking chances with your life, so ya kinda get what you deserve if you do it while on the pill.
Some women need birth control to keep thier hormone leaves normal. I have to take them if I want my cycle to be any where near normal.
.....your.....your joking right...I mean yea there are jackasses, dumbasses.....hell they practaly own a state.....but....that liNE is still used!? I mean really, it's past thst now ((besides if I only understand the tip of the baby pain iceberg....I wouldent wish that on most people))
I agree, birth control should be your decision, not your partner's fancy. If you are a couple, this doesn't mean you have to go through anything unpleasant or scary to you just because it will be more convenient to your partner.
Don't have sex, that's what my wife and I do. I got a vesectomy and she stopped having sex with me, problem solved.
But, some girls take Birth control to regulate hormones instead, I know this bc my sister, and a few of my exes did.
Fun fact: most women use birth control to help control chronic conditions (ie. cysts or endometriosis) or periods(ie. excessive pain or bleeding). Decreasing the chance a pregnancy is a nice bonus though since condoms certainly do not guarantee you will not get pregnant.
Heres the REAL kicker you guys. Male birth control now exists but guess what, guys dont want it because of the uncomfortable doc appts, hormonal changes, weight gain, and scary side affects, sound familar?
No, because the side effects were too sever, and if you don't think sever depression and attempted suicide isn't severe, you and everyone else spreading this b******t around are only making this divide between the sexes worse, and for the wrong reasons. http://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2016/11/03/500549503/male-birth-control-study-killed-after-men-complain-about-side-effects
Responsible guys will take it. It a risk u take. Better to get side affect that hiv or std. Which u choose? That what I thought. .... 98% of time. Condom works. If u do it right. Some people keep f*****g and then they to late. They say before u cum pull out common sense also don't f**k in a*****e that just asking for it
Never have I ever asked a gf to go on the pill......I've in fact asked them to get off it......... so there
Ban genital cutting on male babies, so they have the same protection as females. Then this argument is not that big of a factor anymore!
I don't disagree with the theory but I'm afraid that is, generally speaking, the method that ensured large families all over Ireland.
I wanted to say this was extreme .. but the birth control is very accurate. You don't want to pay for birth control, you don't want women to have abortions, you don't want to give women (or men) reasonable family leave, and you don't people living on welfare. Come on congress!
Not a problem over here in the socially developed world (i.e. Europe)
Load More Replies...what "Europe" do you mean? Because in my country it's a big problem
Given that birth control cost about a dollar a day, the answer is no. I don't want to pay for *your* birth control. You could work at McDonalds for 3 days a month, and literally pay for your birth control for that month. There's absolutely no reason why I should have to buy that for you. If you can't work 3 day a month then don't get in bed with someone. I would say "buy some condoms" but you probably want me to buy those for you too.
Irony here is that even if they jumped through those hoops IRL, a man's insurance is unlikely to cover condoms even with a prescription because they are not legally required to. HOWEVER, a woman's insurance is legally mandated to cover any FDA recognized contraceptive option with prescription without cost or copay to her -- including barrier methods. So it's not "very accurate", unless you mean she has to get a script for it and some people want to change the law so that the cost isn't mandated to be wholly subsidized.
And why SHOULD it be subsidized? Why can't people simply pay their own way anymore? If I want a new radio for my car, I give up steaks and seafood for a while. If you want birth control, maybe give up wine after work. It's called being self-sufficient.
You DO know there's other alternatives right? Female condoms... foams... diaphragm.... or IUD. But why is it the rest of the country's responsibility to pay for your birth control? If you can't afford birth control, and you can't afford the risks associated with sex, DON'T DO IT! Why is it everyone else's responsibility to pay for YOUR enjoyment? You don't pay for my beer, steaks, movie tickets, or flowers for my girlfriend. Why should I have to pay so you can have sex? What ever happened to taking full responsibility for yourself?
You do know that contraception isn’t just about sex and avoiding pregnancy? There are millions of women who are on birth control, or contraceptives, to control their periods due to conditions such as PCOS and endometriosis, not o mention the women who suffer through horrific periods and take the pills just to be able to function every month because women are expected to continue working even when in extreme pain from periods. Contraceptives aren’t just about preventing pregnancy. Being a woman is a lifelong, chronic condition. Often painful, sometimes life-threatening, sometimes fatal. Literally biologically speaking, no outside factors. Women get vilified for having kids and they get vilified for not having them...? And as for taking responsibility, how about men take some too? After all, we can’t get pregnant without them. If men don’t want to be fathers, wear condoms. Don’t give b******t excuses and then expect us to take full responsiblity. It takes two.
What if a woman gets raped? Thought of that? That’s something men hardly have to worry about, since 1: women don’t rape men as often as men rape women and 2: women are almost always less strong than men. And don’t give me c**p about girls getting raped have some responsibility for that at all, because they don’t! Short sighted people.
Are you actually kidding me? People should pay their own way blah blah blah. Well we would be able to afford birth control if we weren't having to pay taxes on things like tampons and pads because they are "luxury" items. How about we start to free bleed instead so we can afford birth control. Oh wait that wouldn't be very nice for everyone to see yet alone it would be unhygienic. As for condoms yeah you should buy them. It's your version of protection you bloody idiot. We get longer family leave because we push a human out of our vaginas. I'd love to see you push a human out your d**k. Seriously why is it that a HANDFUL of men (not all) are complete idiots. Get a grip if your girlfriend can't afford birth control and you wanna sleep with her then you can pay for it. It's as simple as that.
I found these both funny and thought provoking. And there sure are some pissed off dudes in this comment section... Sure the pill and condoms aren't the same. But is has become a social norm that the girls take the pills. It's their responseability, because they are the ones who can get pregnant. As if it didn't even take two to tango.... But hey didn't they invent a male Pill? Perhaps the dudes in the comment section would have actually understood the message in the comic if the artist had used male birth control pill instead of condom. You know to really spell it out? I prefer it as it is though.
did you know they actually created a pill that would make it so they guy couldnt get the girl pregnant but they never used it because it had side affects such as mood swings and cramping and was called inhumane. Yea, like girls dont have to go through with that every month for a week or longer
Load More Replies...You may want to investigate that one better, because the last time I checked, the male birth control pill would actually kill us men and also make us sterile amongst other severe complications. The reason it is not a "thing" is because one thing is to fool a womans reproductive system into thinking it is constantly pregnant and avoid one egg to become fertile, than it is to make literally MILLIONS of sperms in a man, dormant. It´s not as simple as you think. Whoever told you males don´t take it because of "cramps" was feeding you feminist propaganda.
whats really annoying about this, is even IF protection is used(either or both sides) not only can teh woman still get pregnant alot of women out there push the father out of the kids life even when he wants to be there
the difference between birth control pills and condoms is that one is a kind of drug that can and in most cases will give you side effects, some of which can be severe. That's why it's important that doctors are involved and that the pills aren't just given away all w***y nilly. The price thing is so true though. So unfair :/
If you decide to take birth control ( with all its consequences ) because the guy doesn´t want to wear a condom, you are really stupid, make him wear one and that is all.
My husband doesn't mind wearing condoms, but I chose the pill because of its beneficial effects on my body.
Load More Replies...Kirsten. Well after I had my kids I really wanted to go back on the pill. I get the worst menstrual cramps with out them (actually the same reason I got them as a teenager). I need to take iron because of the amount I menstruation. This is not as bad when I'm on the pill. And my frequency of migrene is lower while on the pill. I have considered hormonal spiral though. But for me personally it's worth it. And I know a lot of women take them because of similar issues
That's right. You have a choice. Do you have a gun pointed to your head by your boyfriend saying take a pill? NO.
number 2 'rally for men' already happens, there are plenty of support groups for women, but when a one for men shows up its laughed at, or interruppted by shouting and hate speech such that because its such a problem 'has' to shut down simply because females want it too
It's funny to see that most of this is only valid for USA. Like paying full price for birth control or showing dead foetus before an abortion. Btw, banning ejaculation is like banning egg creation. Nobody on Earth at anytime would have banned this for a woman if it was the case.
Abortion is not birth control. Do you even remember the 1970's? Access to information, real birth control, privacy and decision making....power. ...was billed as the end all. If we had all that, abortion would not be needed because we had THE POWER to make educated, logical, smart, careful choices BEFORE HAND.
OMG this is so funny to me cause i can relate and I think there should be more woman in gov. I'm not sexist or feminist there isn't enough
Hugo, you know exactly what Blue means and stop pretending you don't.
Save us from stupidity. The real truth is American medicine is a private industry and other than safety and informed consent regulations Govco has no business trying to regulate medical treatment. If they want to tell me what medical treatments I can or cannot have they better start paying my medical bills and missed wages.
I disagree. You should be in government if you have people's and country's interest in heart. Not just because you're a women. But I live a dreamland....
"Women are to sign up for selective service before 18. But at this time we have no reason to ask men to do the same..." "Of course he said he didn't rape you. What else so we need?" "If you want to see your children, Ms. Jones, you need to pay more child support..." "We find Mr. Smith NOT GUILTY in the killing of wife..." "Sorry, but this shelter doesn't take women..." I could go on...but I'll just tell you to F**K OFF...!
(1st comic) People do know that sperm doesn't magically become babies by themselves right? If that was the case, my keyboard would be home to billions
Remember though ladies, birth control isn't taken just to prevent pregnancy, it's also used to help regulate the monthly cycle and help with break outs.
And if taken correctly, is more effective against pregnancy then condoms!
Load More Replies...Also what about all the women out there who feel that condoms are uncomfortable and don't want the guy wearing them, when it comes to birth control or condoms it falls on both parties not just the man or the women.
Um the do you have condoms conversation is a pretty common conversation and a bloke will go get those condoms.
I'm an idiot. It took me longer than I'd like to admit to figure out the following comics were connected. I fully agree with everything presented here.
I love the Men's life magazine and the article title "Do condoms make you fat and annoying?" :D :D priceless! :D
Banning masturbation would be to save sperm, but nocturnal emissions happen after so long of not masturbation. also eggs are limited, sperm not so much (from what i have heard and been told). Rally for men. if the men she knew agreed with her, then great, obviously not 100% would agree on a plan, but thats just how things go. Ejaculate into a female, umm sure? but i better not be responsible for it. otherwise, that would be the entire reason i would be getting a vasectomy. And while uncomfortable, i have seen much worse than a pair of testes being operated on, so wouldnt bother me too much. Butt crack showing, if the clothes arent fitting properly, then this should be a thing that happens for men. but thats my opinion, and also why it will probably never be enforced. as for the birth control portion, simple. DRUGS vs A BAG. if condoms had serious side effects, then yeah i would sit through a dr appointment to make sure my junk doesnt fall off. higher prices is BS no matter what
wow all you people are trying to put your point so properly if there were indian guys(not all but majority) here they would be whinning about how feminism is making it so difficult for them already and how poor guys want virgin girls..lol😂
They forgot to mention how male "circumcision" would be illegal and that FGM would be legal and commonly practiced. And also how there'd be acts for the prevention of violence against men, but nothing comparable for women. And also how women would be required to register for the selective service at 18, where men would not have to. And also how men would be able to terminate a pregnancy if he didn't wish to become a father, but a woman would not only have no say in this option but also be forced to support any resulting child financially for the next 18
Honestly these just make women look stupid. If you think this is really how it is, I feel sorry for you. So many things wrong with the analogies they used for most of these. But I do agree Birth control should be easier to get. And even free. If a woman doesn't want to take it that's on her and she can also carry condoms for protection. Which she should be using anyway because of STDs. You can get condoms for FREE at any DSHS, planned parenthood, and other places. No excuse not to have it. And if he doesn't want to use it, don't have sex.
I am pretty sure the female condom exists, so why is this comparing the male condom to female reproductive medication... This is what's wrong with society...
Wearing a condom, is totally different for each person. The majority of the women whom I've had a sexual-relationship with have said, condoms feel different, and it feels better without one. But I'd be supportive to any woman who chooses whether they want to use birth control or not. I'd use condoms if my partner wanted me to. Because personally, I think it's the better option for the women's health.
Don't get the first picture though. There is a pretty big difference between stating that sperms (or eggs for that matter) are human beings and that stating that a union between egg and sperm, a zygote, is a human being. The zygote has a genome that is not simply a subset of that of its father or that of its mother and if allowed to continue to develop, it will grow into a baby ready to be born. As I see it, there is no point in the development of the embryo that is equally sensible to call the beginning of a life as the fertilization. Yes, in most governments men are over represented, which sucks, but I am not certain that gender is the main determinator when it comes to ideas about when life begins.
The only ones that don't make sense are the condom-related ones. Because female condoms exist and are widely available all over the US with no prescription (like male condoms). Birth control is often used for things other than contraception; so a *close* equivalent would be erectile dysfunction medication, which is often used for things other than erectile dysfunction (like blood pressure problems), and is equally not covered by health insurance (you would have a difficult time finding a health insurance company that will cover it even partially), and can be up to $60/pill.
And female "condoms" are SOOOO easy to use!! (sarcsm)
Load More Replies...They're pretty hard to find in Europe, and honestly, I don't think they're very easy to use. Have you seen the size of them???!!!! They're like a shopping bag!!
Banning female masturbation or fertilized eggs...periods would be the opposite not
Lady's are the one to blame they don't want condom they don't want take pills. Then bam they got std or I'll from getting bang from a*****e thinking just because they won't get preen they can get std still I mean come on girls use common sense it not worth it u less u with that guy for long a*s time then it your choice but u choose pleasure over responsibilities
If men got pregnant birth control would come in the mail, FREE! The government would pay for it. Abortions would be free also and never would have been illegal. Everyone knows this to be true. Just the way it is.
All I am reading is a bunch of biased drivel. Opinions, not facts. Besides, most of this feminist b******t is someone pushing their views on others. And you are worried about the Patriarchy. I'm more worried about the men AND women who don't care for our world and only care for power or money. Don't want the child you might/ might not have a choice in? Put it up for adoption. Don't wanna get pregnant? Make sure you wear protection and use male/female contraceptives. Don't wanna get raped? Take a friend should you go somewhere that makes you feel uncomfortable and carry a taser or knife. Common sense people come on.
I'm getting sick with all those feminazi man-hating nonsense. If you're stupid enough to risk your health by taking pills just to please a man, it's entirely your fault. But hey, let's blame men, because it's socially acceptable and taking responsability for our actions sucks. For the record: I was on pills for close to two years (because unlike condoms, birth control pills give you the freedom to have sex whenever and wherever you want) but stopped when my mother got diagnosed with breast cancer. My boyfriend had no voice in the matter. Duh
In some situations and places men do force or pressurise women to get an abortion. There is still a lot of stigma attached to abortion in places where it is legal. I think what the artist is trying to convey is how it is difficult for women to get access to contraceptives and the social pressure for women to be the one responsible in the context of a sexual relationship/encounter. Men need to take responsibility for their health and there should be more contraceptive options for men. There is also a greater need for education regarding sex, sexual health and abortion. There are too many places in the world where abortions are illegal and/or carried out in ways which are dangerous. At the end of the day it is ultimately the individual women's choice whether she gets an abortion because it is her body. They should be given advice if they want it but the advisor must not influence the decision process with their personal opinion.
Load More Replies...The vasectomy one is in reference to the fact that a woman has to go through counseling and watch surgery videos before getting her tubes tied if it is not medically necessary, and a doctor can refuse to do it. I cannot get my ovaries removed because I do not have children, even though I am infertile and they cause me great pain. A vasectomy is never medically necessary, but guys do it all the time. It is a double standard.
Oh man, I had a totally different idea of "femdom" pop into my head. Do they really call it that?
the point the artist is conveying is that it can be really difficult for females to obtain contraceptives and there is the notion that females in a sexual relationship/encounter must be the ones preventing pregnancy. Overall the comics are conveying how it is often men who make the decisions over how a women controls her fertility and what is legal. For example men do not have to undergo therapy or watch videos to get a vasectomy unlike women who want to have their ovaries or womb removed. Don't even get me started on abortions being made illegal :')
Please raise examples. Also, do note that this post have the word 'government' in it. In other words, it's not focusing on social expectations on what men can do with their bodies and reproduction but the law.
... What do u mean? This comic reflect how the law and society would treat men if they are treated like how women are now. SO are u saying that men ARE ALREADY going through these???? 1) Healthcare professionals going out of their way to prevent them from getting vasectomies 2) Making men jump through hoops and circles just to get a prescription for condoms 3) Women making LAWFUL decisions for what a men does with their body
Load More Replies...The first one is ridiculous. No one is banning a woman from having her period. The 2nd one is.. I have no words. We have a Hilary Clinton type of character holding an unnecessary rally for men, and it's not even a negative thing to do, anyways. Just unnecessary. Vasectomies are reversable, but I'm sure they get information and confirmation before the procedure. And I have come across younger men being questioned about it due to their young age. Men have less private parts than females, but Justin Bieber was put on the spotlight for urinating into a mop bucket and his underwear ad was scrutinized over his "penis enhancement". What girl has not asked a guy if he has condoms when she's about to have sex? You have a man in a doc's office getting a prescription. Pretty normal for everyone going to get a prescription. And doesn't seem like he's being judged or made to feel shamed. For some things, insurance companies do make men go through hell to get procedures and prescriptions.
Jace is right. Most women don't know this (which makes sense, since they've never gotten one), but men can't just walk into a clinic and get a vasectomy. Especially if they're in a relationship (their significant other almost always has to sign off on it as well before the doctor will even consider touching him, probably to protect themselves legally). The condom-related ones are weird to me as well.
Putting a baby up for adoption is an enormous decision to make. You have to go through the process of pregnancy and giving birth. Giving birth has a huge psychological impact on a woman and not everybody is able to cope with that. Giving a child/baby up for adoption also has a massive psychological impact on mother, child/baby and other family members. It is an option which works for some but it is not one which works for all and women shouldn't be pressurised to feel like its the right decision. There is a lot of stigma attached to giving a child/baby up for adoption. There is not guarantee they will be adopted or fostered and grow up to be a happy individual. I think women should be given and keep the freedom to chose abortion. If people wish to keep abortion rates low then they should educate people about sex, relationships and contraceptives. There should certainly be more contraceptive options for men because men need to take more responsibility.
Load More Replies...Right? Also, stop telling young women who inquire about sterilization surgery that they are incapable of making that decision, or that their future husbands might want children. Pardon me? I said I do.not.want.children.
Pregnancy is also extremely energy demanding and financially some people can not afford to be pregnant. Not all countries have legislation protecting pregnant women from loosing their jobs and/or being discriminated against. In some places there is a lack of care homes, foster families and people willing to adopt.
Abortion actually has a crippling psychological affect. More than adoption and childbirth. At least you can be sure your child is alive, well and happy with new parents. Do you even know what they do to a baby during abortions. It's torturous, cruel and risky to the "mother". Your reasons for are based purely out of fear of everything involved in being pregnant and having to make tough choices. Well, guess what? That's life. I understand some woman have abortions for dire medical reasons and unfortunate circumstances, such as rape. Those are acceptable reasons for wanting abortions. But I have to wonder, if there is a better option to help women in those times and give them better theraputic counselling than just terminating their pregnancy. But I've come across reckless women and girls who have abortions just because they wanted to have sex without a condom and wanted to drink, or didn't want a pregnancy to wreck their bodies. Either prevent it, or accept the consequences.
Somehow, ur comment just comes off as really naive. There are plenty of reasons why a person might consider abortion. 1) The foetus might have genetic defects like Down syndrome or even fatal ones like being born without a complete brain. 2) Where pregnancy might endanger the mother's life. 3) The pregnancy might be the result of rape. Is it strange that people might not want to bear a parasite seeded by their attacker for 9 months?
Oh i understand that abortions are sometimes carried out because the foetus has a genetic abnormality or a high chance of developing a degenerative disease. I was talking about how adoption is not always an option and why it can be really hard. I personally would never refer to a child/baby conceived through rape as a "parasite". I can see why some people would but personally it just feels wrong. Children fathered by a rapist are innocent and should be treated like any other child. Not even going to open up the conversation about down syndrome :')
Adoption is an alternative to raising a child, not to pregnancy and birth, which are very taxing on a woman's body. Most abortions are performed at a time when the foetus doesn't have a fully formed nervous system or a brain. You can't kill something that has not even begun to live. When abortions are done after that point it's because the mother's life is in danger and she wouldn't be able to go through the pregnancy anyway.
Diana Nas--how do you explain away the missing baby to your boss, your clients, your neighbors, your other children?
Load More Replies...You can tell them. You explain to those inquiring you decided to put your child up for adoption. No one will ask anymore questions who isn't family and friends. Employers will be ecstatic because all they care about is having you back to do your job and not having to worry about paying your fill-in and your parental leave. Your neighbours will either mind their business, lightly inquire, or gab theories among their friends. But that's typical neighbourly behaviour. Informing the rest of your family would be done during the process and pregnancy so there would be time and for the rest of your kids to understand what's going on. It's not like you go around telling everyone you're going to have a baby and get everyone all excited and prepared for your new addition and then decide to adopt it out once at the hospital and shock everyone. The biggest scandal would be if you already have kids, people will wonder why you would be rejecting this one. But controversy can happen either way.
Hitler got elected too. Just because some Nimrod gets elected by a bunch of other Nimrods doesn't mean they are right. And just because a lot of people think a certain way doesn't make that correct, either. The issues raised by these comics are about the correct way to treat a woman. Period. It doesn't matter if there are a billion naysayers all nodding their empty little heads in agreement, right is right and wrong is wrong. Just, for a minute, try to pretend that the things listed in this post were real. And you had to undergo them. That is the intent here. Because, they are real. Just not for you. So before you dismiss this as BS, I want to remind you that real live people has to deal with this BS, in part because a large number citizens are narrow-minded twerps that can't think outside themselves and don't give enough of a c**p to do anything about it. Maybe when a group is really (the opposite of imaginarily) stepping your rights, you will understand how people like you look.
Load More Replies...When Viagra is covered by insurance by birth control isn't, and tampons are tax as a luxury instead of a necessity... I'm thinking it's a little real. Gender inequality is bad for men too. Men are treated like they can't be competent fathers and that isn't fair either.
Load More Replies...Except, it's pretty difficult to find an insurance company that will cover Viagra. They mostly consider it medically unnecessary, even in the case of ED. They only care if you need it for heart-related reasons. And it can be almost $60/pill.
The birth control one bothers me most.
