It’s no surprise that people are concerned for humanity right now. That’s why we constantly look at our screens and try to gather as much information to feel like we have some amount of control. It warms my heart when people that have a voice that influences people use it.
He was such an amazing Man and will forever be missed. I love that he used his Voice for great things
Robin Williams was an absolute legend. Great actor, funny comedian, brilliant man. Rest In Peace
What a funny funny man. Always had me in Stitches with laughter and I can't say that of many comedians. His wit was razor sharp. It was also obvious that he had a kind heart and your story proves that. Rest in peace Robin, you'll always be missed. Yes, you really will!
Is it me or does radio man look like Robin Williams in a movie about radio man?
"(Turkey): It started almost 3 decades ago—truck driver Sehmus Erginoglu began clearing a waste site in Mardin city. Now he's 71, and he's created a forest. The proceeds began by clearing out trash from the site, installing water pipes and eventually started to plant saplings. 'I don't make any money from this, but it gives me happiness. When the trees bear fruit, the people come here. They eat fruit and sit under the trees and become happy. When people die, they cannot take their money into the afterlife, but the good they do comes with them.'"
More people should take a leaf out of his book. Haha get it
It doesn't matter if this story is upvoted on here or not - it's just simply the best
"Fisherman Jean and his brother spent Christmas Eve in Itabuna Bahía, using the only thing he had left–his raft— to save 121 families. The hero who lost his own home to the flooding, worked nonstop for 37 hours moving around in 10 feet deep water to help as many people as possible. Funds have been raised to buy Jean a new home. Jean is the good news."
Seriously though! I hope he got help later on.
Load More Replies...Good news is always, well, good! So it’s great to have an Instagram account like this ready to convey some positivity into our daily lives. And it seems that people are thirsty for such content because the Good News Movement has already amassed more than 3.9M followers. The creator of this account, Michelle Figueroa from Boston, felt that wholesome content sometimes gets pushed to the side, and wanted to create a space dedicated solely to uplifting stories.
“People send me good news stories from their own communities that maybe otherwise wouldn’t make a headline or wouldn’t make the newspaper or newscast. I don’t really limit myself in terms of what we cover. We welcome people to send any kind of story that brought them joy,” Michelle said on the Rachael Ray Show.
She noticed many times that the kind person didn’t know the individual they were helping — they were complete strangers. This only shows that the world is full of wonderful people ready to lend a hand to those facing adversities and build stronger bonds within families, communities, and beyond.
My ten year old has hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy as well. Thankfully, he isn’t in any known danger of dying young. Max is proud of you, and I am too!
I reaaaaaly love to suffer. I see " good news movement or uplifting stories" and I end up crying and laughing and crying again and then repeat and I never learn my lesson . That's a beautiful way to keep your brother at your heart. He is beyond proud.
I just replied 'He is' but then saw the original reply.

“I have been a network journalist for over 10 years and since my first aired story, I have always found myself drawn to stories showing the good in humanity,” she told Vogue. “In fact, my very first story was for a show called Primer Impacto. It was about a toddler with skin as fragile as a butterfly’s (she has epidermolysis bullosa) whose attitude is so inspiring.”
She believes that people have so much good, much more than bad, but there wasn’t a journalist-run space for it. So she decided to fill this gap. Michelle created the account so people could send in upbeat stories about acts of kindness, and she could share them with the internet.
"(Muskogee, Oklahama): 6th grader Davyon Johnson used an abdominal thrust on a classmate who was choking on a bottle cap last Thursday. Later that day, he rescued a woman who has a disability, from a burning house. His mother says she's not surprised and that her son wants to be an EMT just like his brother when he is older. Representatives of Muskogee Police Department, Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office and Muskogee Public Schools honored Johnson Tuesday as an honorary member of the police and sheriff’s departments.
'I felt good, excited,' Davyon said about the honor.
Principal Latricia Dawkins called Davyon a 'dual hero.'"

"Over 6,000 books are available to the public in a library in Ankara from discarded books that otherwise wiuld have gone to landfill. In 2018, It was initially intended to be a library for sanitation workers and their families but became open to the public after seeing how much interest there was in it. The novel idea inspired the community to donate books to the ever-growing collection. In Bogotá, Colombia a sanitation worker had the same idea and has built a home library open to the public and created a foundation to encourage literacy in impoverished areas."
In our area people have joined the Little Free Library movement. It’s very common to see people taking and leaving books.
Load More Replies...What they have done is wonderful!!! But People throw books away? Why don't they donate them. We have these little library stations that people can take and leave books. I buy used children's books to put in them.
When I moved out of NYC I downsized from a condo to an RV. Donating most of my possessions was easy…except for all my books! I had a couple hundred. Libraries, nursing homes, hospitals, etc. all said no. Turns out bed bugs can live in books (not that I had them!) and they couldn’t risk it. I finally found a charity that would accept them, but it took a while.
Load More Replies...Why would anyone throw out a book? So many organizations would gladly take them from senior centers to prisons.
I am involved with a Bookfest in my city which receives donations of books and other items. We than sell them cheaply to raise money for charity/community causes. Thankfully this saves a lot from being tossed.
"In July, Florida detective Mike Blair, of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, responded to a horrific crime scene in March 2018 – a man had killed his girlfriend and special needs daughter and critically injured his son. The 8-year-old son wasn't expected to make it but pulled through. The detective would frequently check up on the boy. The detective said his heart strings were pulled when the boy asked him, "will you watch a movie with me?"... Now that detective is his adoptive father to the now 12-year-old boy and the boy says he feels so loved by his adoptive parents and 6 siblings."

The 3 year old and one of his older sisters survived and the police were already suspicious but after she woke up even though she was unable to speak her heartrate skyrocketed when her mother walked into the room showing that she was terrified. She was the only witness (the boy was 3 and far too young) so the prosecutor spent a lot of time building a bond with her so she would eventually be able to testify. He and his wife ended up adopting her and her brother who was paralysed.
Replying to myself to add it was the Diane Downs case.

This doesn’t mean we should ignore the difficulties and injustices people face in today’s world. Michelle explained that if we consume only the bad, we might start to feel weighed down. “If we nourish ourselves with the good in the world, we’ll feel positive, uplifted and inspired,” the creator of the Good News Movement said. “In these times, … it can be easy to be anxious with uncertainty, but my page has served as solace that together we can get through this.”

My grandpa used to bring my grandma flowers every Friday after work. When he died, my uncle (generally considered the least successful, and certainly least financially steady member of the family) stepped up and brought her flowers every Friday from then until her death years later. He never mentioned it, just hugged her and handed them over every week. I adore him.
Honestly, if my dad did this I would have cried right there in the cafeteria on my last day of high school. 😭
I would've opened that and bawled my eyes out. Not because I don't know how to peel an orange.... Or even better my last day I would've left HIM a peeled orange. hehe. Reminds me of my Grandpa, he used to sneak me a cookie before dinner all the time and say "don't tell Grandma". When I was in my 20's he snuck me a cookie and said "don't tell Grandma" I said "Appa, you know I'm grown now and it won't ruin my appetite right?" Omg the heartbreak on his face, he whispered "Don't take this from me" I took the cookie. And kept taking them until he passed a couple years later. Now no one sneaks me cookies anymore :( Keep peeling her oranges dad.
"(Austin, Texas): 11-year-old Audrey Soape lost her father and grandfather last year & was feeling sad about an upcoming father-daughter dance. That's when her mom Holly reached out to @philadelphiaeagles football player Anthony Harris ( @antharris ) to ask whether he would take Audrey to the dance, not expecting a reply. But to her surprise, the NFL player said YES.
“[I was] just trying to be a human,” Harris told NBC 10 in Philadelphia. “Trying to take off the helmet, trying to take off the cape of what I do professionally and just show some sympathy for that family and try to show some support there.” The family had been fans of Harris since his days with the Vikings and say it was such a blessing that someone so busy would take time of their schedule to show up for someone they don't even know."
He flew across the country to escort her. He'd been in communication with the mom since she wrote of her family's support for him years ago. He paid for the girl's dress and hair and makeup. Genuinely good man.
“It’s interesting: people often look elsewhere for good news — on the TV or in the newspaper, but people themselves are the good news. No matter where we are, or our circumstances, we are capable of being and creating good news. It may sound cliché, but the change does indeed start with each of us.”
She decided to add the word “movement” to the title because it truly is a collective effort. “People send in their stories or stories of their neighbors, friends, classmates and this platform amplifies stories from their neighborhood to the world. I receive messages of support on a daily basis – people thanking me for lifting up their spirits or inspiring them to do an act of kindness which truly is the best compensation for me.”

After all, we are hardwired to feel compassion and almost always want to help other human beings (and animals!) “Good News Movement is a platform to share the good news but it’s also a vehicle to connect those who need help with those who want to help.”
Michelle mentioned that people want to assist and support others but sometimes, they don’t know how to go about it. “One time, a boy with autism in Florida asked his mom if anyone would like him and, with permission of the mom, posted about it and asked for cards. The boy received hundreds of cards and gifts from the followers.”
In the documentary, White explained 'all through the South there was this whole ruckus, they were going to take the show off the air if we didn’t get rid of Arthur because he was Black.' "(North Carolina): At 26, Jason Brown signed a $37.5 million contract--one of the largest at the time for any NFL lineman but he says he wasn't fulfilled. In 2014, he said he felt a God-sent calling to help those struggling with food insecurity: 'God told me he was going to supply my every need.' Jason bought a farm, called it 'First Fruits Farm' and he and his family dedicated themselves to learn how to grow crops, donating produce to pantries for the last 8 years. He said he was inspired his brother who served in the military and died in Iraq. Thank you Jason for the difference you've made and continue to make."
His farm is about 15 miles from where I live. My church garden produced over 7,000 lbs of produce in 2021, all donated to local food pantries. It's not as much as Mr. Brown, but it makes a difference as well.
Now THIS is what you do when you have millions. NOT go into space inside a d**k rocket. Jeffrey? Ya hearin’ me, young man?
I often marvel at the people who donate time and knowledge to help others on youtube!
Every year!!! Let me explain. I have no disposable funds, ever. I live in forced poverty due to my disability. Every year, a very very very wealthy friend sets it up so I can order and purchase hundreds of dollars of Organic turkeys, pick them up and deliver them to the soup kitchen. I love being a part of something so wholesome. Having learned that volunteering is so rewarding, I seek out opportunities to volunteer. Be it sending books to prison libraries (the State refuses to supply prison libraries) by buying used books from the library to helping a dog owner with effective and positive communication skills to taking an elderly community member out for lunch, I get the most out of it every time. If you can volunteer, please consider it.
We are delighted to witness generous and kind people doing beautiful things and showcasing moments of hope, joy, and resilience in every corner of the world. Let’s remind ourselves that even in the face of misfortune, people can unite and stand together with those who need our help the most. So if you have any recent feel-good stories to share, be sure to submit them to the Good News Movement and see how happiness spreads like a virus.
"Bethel Park High School (PA) coach sent a message to his team: 'Due to the expected severe weather, Monday's weightlifting workout has been cancelled. Find an elderly or disabled neighbor and shovel their driveway. Don't accept any money - that's our Monday workout.'
Delallo said the shoveling workout started with the previous coach, more than a decade earlier, but he thinks he may have been the first to tweet it. Thanks to social media, athletes from competing teams saw the tweet and also went out to shovel."
And probably got a better workout to boot! And that includes training their characters to do the right thing.

The case presented at the Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunisitic Infections in Denver, is the first involving umbilical cord blood, a novel approach that could make the treatment more widely available, researchers say.
The woman has been free of the virus for 14 months without a need for her regular antiretroviral treatments. Good news."
please tell me this isn't a joke. THIS. IS. THE. BEST. THING. EVER!!!!!!!
I grew up in San Francisco in Eureka Valley, which is also known as The Castro. From the time I was born I had more “uncles” than most people have relatives. My mother was a charge nurse on the AIDS ward during the early days of the epidemic. Because of union issues and not initially knowing how it was spread, along with later paranoia and misinformation, most allied health care workers did so on a volunteer basis. The custodial and dietary staff wasn’t allowed on the floor. It was an open room setting with beds separated by curtains. My brothers, friends and I volunteered as custodians in our pre-teen and teen years. I watched countless patients, neighbors and uncles waste away. I cannot even count how many beds I sat beside as people I loved died. If you want a small glimpse of just how numbingly unreal it seemed, watch “We Were There.” I have cries countless tears of joy with the fight for a cure from AZT to now this!!!!
I knew they’d found people with a natural immunity/resistance to HIV—-the idea was originally based on anecdotal evidence, from the time, that some people survived the Great Plague, even if they were directly exposed to it, simply because they were naturally immune or resistant to it. But I didn’t know they’d completed the research and started transplanting stem cells. This is amazing!
It wasn't done for HIV treatment, it was done for Leukemia. Amazing side effect in any case.
Load More Replies...Only reason I can come up with is because it's a somewhat taboo and outdated topic. They don't report the successes they've had in treating it, that a lot of people with HIV are non detectable and non transmittable, that peoples' immune systems have fought it off. The only way you learn about these things is to either have someone close to you with it, have it yourself or do your own research. I honestly don't know why this topic is such a hot potato.

"Yesterday we shared the story of @seattlekraken fan Nadia Popovici who weeks ago noticed a spot on @canucks' equipment manager Brian "Red" Hamilton's neck and through the plexiglass held up her phone that telling him the spot on his neck is cancer. Turns out it was a Stage 2 Malignant Melanoma which he had removed. Yesterday he went online to search for his lifesaver and found her within 2 hours.
Yesterday they met, hugged and Nadia was surprised with $10,000 between both teams."
Wait, so she was cheering for the other team but noticed the Vancouver coach had a spot on his neck? I’m gonna cry, this gives me hope for humanity

Thankfully he came away with only minor scratches, now he thinks he might be a superhero. The mother expressed that it wasn't the driver's fault- the children had suddenly crossed the road. First responders and fire crews paid him a visit to congratulate the hero for his bravery. Great job, Kayden."
How wonderful that the mother didn't blame the driver. Even knowing that it's the child(ren) that run into the road, some parents still have to blame the driver.
Kayden, you don’t have to think you’re a super hero——YOU ARE A SUPER HERO AND ALWAYS WILL BE!
Look how you screw yourself Taliban, by causing your best and brightest to have to flee and take their gifts elsewhere. Let's hope all dictators and oppressors feel the pinch of no talent.
I can barely get out of bed in the morning. She is what young people should be admiring, not talentless celebrities.!

On Tuesday, Shaq surprised the Collins family with the purchase of a 15-passenger van since they'd outgrown the 12 passenger one. He took them to Rainforest Cafe where he paid for their meal and another table’s entire meal and gave their waitress a $1,000 tip.
But that’s not all. When @shaq learned that family's father, former Harlem Globetrotter Mandrae Collins' truck wasn't working, he got him a truck too!
This is what I would do if I were rich, pass it on helping people in real need.
If I were rich, I would build a mansion and start a program that lets dozens or even hundreds of people live there, free from bills, rent, jobs, etc. They could read, write, swim, etc. I'm calling the plan "the DeathShade Foundation". It's a life goal XD.

A doctor told my best friend to go home and leave her son in the hospital as he would never survive to see his 1st birthday. She fired him, and sent him birthday cards from her son. He is 33.
I wonder if this research was supported by Christopher Reeves who died still believing he'd be able to stand before he passed away.
Fantastic woman. Absolute character. She does a lot for charity.
I live in the same county where Dolly Parton is from. An a few years ago she donated millions to help many families here when we had a large wildfire. She's a wonderful, caring person.

How about the United States work on make University accessible to students from a vast array of economical backgrounds? It should not cost $50,000.00+ to get an education--even state schools can be outrageously pricey. Students in the United States should not have to take out loads of loans and end up in incredible amounts of debt just to get a decent education. All students who want to learn should have the right to a great education.

Our son was 3 years old when we found out that he had 20/200 eyesight. I remember thinking at the time that he did not even know what we looked like. After he put on his glasses he would not take them off. He slept in them. He showered in them. He is 24 now and still rarely takes them off. <3
My daughter was 3 when she first got glasses. I remember asking the doc how could we possibly keep them on a toddler? They assured me it wouldn't be a problem. Her vision was bad enough that she literally cried when I took them off.
Well, I don't think he was carrying Port a potties in his bread truck.

There is always more good happening in the world every day than there is bad things. It’s the job of mainstream news media to only show the bad things happening in the world and it gives readers the skewed perspective that bad things are common and good things are rare, in reality, it is the opposite that is true. There is more good in the world than evil.
I fully disagree that it is their job to only report on bad things. It's their job to report on noteworthy events, good and bad ones. Unfortunately the reality is that bad events sell much better than good ones so they are self-restricting to almost exclusively bad ones.
