20 Poignant Images Depicting The Global Issue Of Child Labor By This Photographer
Embarking on a journey that transcends borders and perceptions, a poignant collection of photographs unveils the harsh reality of child labour, a scourge that persists worldwide. Originating from a profound encounter in Bangladesh back in 2018, the collection's creator witnessed firsthand the stark truth of child labour etched in the fabric of society.
Child labour, a pervasive issue affecting an estimated 170 million children globally, casts a shadow over their innocence, stripping away childhood joys and replacing them with the burden of toil. Beyond occasional assistance to struggling parents, for many, it's an unrelenting cycle of arduous labor, robbing them of their rightful education and playtime.

Defined as work that robs children of their dignity and stifles their growth, the photographs encapsulate the bittersweet essence of young lives overshadowed by responsibility. From the bustling streets of Asia to the intimate moments within households, the lens captures not only the grueling labor but also the quiet moments of resilience and determination.
Each frame portrays a narrative of survival and sacrifice, where children, with a mixture of pride and resignation, navigate a world where work eclipses play. Yet, amidst the solemnity, glimpses of laughter and fleeting moments of joy pierce through, reminding us of the indomitable spirit that persists even in the face of adversity.
What is at the end of her pole? Is that a cutter of some sort? Poor kiddo...
Spanning across diverse landscapes from Bangladesh to India, Kyrgyzstan, and Iran, the collection serves as a poignant reminder of the universality of this issue. Behind each photograph lies a poignant story, echoing the silent struggles of millions of children worldwide.
As the world observes World Day Against Child Labour on June 12th, these photographs serve as a clarion call to action, urging society to confront the harsh realities that deprive countless children of their childhood dreams. Through empathy and awareness, we can strive to create a future where every child has the opportunity to flourish and thrive, unburdened by the chains of exploitation.

And you have to wonder who profits - this doesn't look like a family pulling together. This looks like economic exploitation at best, captive labor / modern slavery at worst. And barefoot in that environment while working? Those sandals to the side don't exactly look OSHA regulation. No protection for the eyes from flying shards. The more you look at this picture, the worse it seems.
Of the various types of labor depicted in this series, this actually looks kinda like a cool skill to have. IMHO.
Poor animals too. I know sometimes the owners don't have the means to help their animals but I do feel for them just as much as the children working long hours in the heat with nowhere to rest or even have water. (yes, I do support Brooke charity)
I really wish these were in color. The black and white makes it feel old and like it's past photos instead of present. Lacks some impact somehow...at least to me
