Artist Turns Stretch Marks Into Art In Order To Encourage People To Be Proud Of Them
Japanese art style called ‘Kintsugi’ is the craft of repairing broken pottery with a mixture of gold, silver or platinum lacquer and powder. Japanese philosophy treats rupture and its repair as a part of the object’s history and therefore should not be disguised or hidden, they are accented and celebrated as the most important parts of the story.
This is the idea behind the project by a Pakistani artist Sarah Shakeel who is conquering many web users with her unusual photos. The artist is transforming the stretch marks into works of art using digital collage techniques.
The artist is inspiring people to accept and be proud of their stories and encourages followers to send pictures of their stretch marks for her to turn them into art.

Share on FacebookBedazzled stretch marks! I’d need to have my cellulite dimples done as well 😂
I love it! But, instead of someone painting over my stretch marks in a picture, I want someone to paint my stretch marks for real. I wonder if I can get them tattooed in colour. I wonder if I should get them done in gold or blue, maybe I'll stop in at a tattoo shop that next time I'm out.
Unfortunately there is no metallic tattoo ink. Tattooing might be troublesome though as the flesh in stretch marks are more tender and fragile.
